On the Mech Arena dev team, we're always striving to make the game an engaging and fun experience for all players.
For a while, some Mechs and Weapons have stood out as being more effective than the rest. Your feedback, and our in-depth analysis, has helped us to create a multi-phase plan focused on one goal: creating a dynamic battlefield that allows a diverse range of content and playstyles to shine.
Our goal is not to weaken your current favorite builds, but to raise up the rest of the roster so you have more choices in every match. Hereβs what you can expect:
We're announcing a four-stage rebalance that will span November to February and target Mechs and Weapons.
We are committed to an approach that encourages you to try something new and provides you with more options on the battlefield, without driving out any of your existing, hard-earned content.
π When?
The first stage of rebalancing will take place 14 days from today, on the 27th of November.
π οΈ What?
Two pieces of content will be nerfed:
Dev Note: Revokers have long dominated the meta, preventing other weapons from fully realizing their potential. To finally give them a chance to shine, we are taking away a bit of damage and range from Revokers, making them a truly close-range weapon that requires better planning to close the distance to the target.
Dev Note: Hemlock has long been an unrivaled controller, at times completely preventing players from taking action, especially in 2v2 and Hangar Showdown modes. To allow other Mechs a chance to contend with its charms, we've made it so that Hemlock cannot constantly keep a target βdazedβ. This doesn't kill its potential, but now it will need to better calculate whom to target with the ECM shot ability and when.
Four Weapons will be buffed:
Dev Note: Howler's main problem was the insufficient amount of ammo/charges. We decided to allow it to shoot more often by significantly reducing its reload speed. Now it will be more like a hit & run weapon, and closer to our initial vision for this weapon.
Dev Note: Hellfire has good damage, but its main problem is range. Since we cannot increase the maximum range due to technical complications, we have increased its optimal range and damage, making it lethal at distances up to 40 meters.
Dev Note: Applying Damage Drain status effect to enemies is good, but you also need to be able to outshoot those enemies. Initially, we intended Suppressor to be more of a support weapon, but it wasn't very popular with players in that role. So, we are adding a lot of damage to it to see how it will fare among other brawl weapons.
Dev Note: Savant had great potential, but also a few significant drawbacks that overshadowed its advantages. It relied too heavily on double damage chance for dealing damage, and Mods negated this advantage. Therefore, we are transferring the damage from the double damage chance into more straightforward damage-per-magazine. Also, Savant's projectiles were fired too quickly one after another, often hitting a single layer of a Mod instead of destroying several. We solved this problem by changing the speed at which projectiles leave the magazine one after another, and now Savant will be significantly more effective against Mods.
β‘οΈ Whatβs next?
We will announce the second stage of the rebalance 14 days in advance.
Once all four stages of the planned rebalances are complete, we will launch a new Seasons system in early Spring to keep the game feeling fresh year-round!
Thatβs all for today! We believe these changes will smooth out the current power gaps and ensure a constantly shifting, skill-based meta. Please feel free to ask any questions and leave your feedback!
Although I am glad for the redistribution of power, I dont know how many times I've been frustrated with the revoker, but it is doable..Hemlock, it is frustrating when you go head to head and the ability is applied, full health and I am stuck because they just keep applying the ability. Might as well through your hands up at that point. I can agree with most about time and money..in addition to this revamp, how about the ability to exchange unused blueprints, and Modes we've upgraded or the weapons we either dont like or use at all.. would love to exchange level one guns for points in same weapon class upgrades or the ability to choose how the exchange is applied. Especially for those that have leveled beyond using them
This is the situation after today's update. Compared to yesterday, my opponents' power diversity has increased. They're now even more powerful than my hangar from yesterday. As I said before, every update from these incompetents brings worsening. Mech Arena was already dead. The revokers kept a few players here, but now I firmly believe that the collapse is imminent. Who knows what today's update brought? I can't play anymore. Every word or action they do always brings negative consequences. They're incompetent, we knew that by now. But now it's like they're dropping an atomic bomb on themselves. Goodbye Mech Arena. You were a good game at the beginning, now you're just continuous garbage. Losing 90% of your matches today means the end of the game... it was fate...
I know this is going to make a ton of players mad about Hemlock. But lets face facts here Hemlock was to Overpowered. I ve seen players lock up 2 players and control simply by having the right implants on it. Revokers getting a nerf ( of course they are I just got them) but if its going to change what I face ( constant revoker/eclipse builds. I myself use it only because of how effective it can be. I left the game after the last "rebalance" because the devs dropped the ball on how to balance the game properly. Hope you have corrected this and look forward to seeing how this plays out. If it is as bad as it was last time you will lose a player that has spent a small fortune on your game but will stop if it is like last time
You understand that they are not doing anything the same as I said after today's update, the situation has further worsened, so much so that you can no longer win a single game, revoker?? Nothing will change because they know... if they do it the players will leave.. this is the proof... words words, to keep you happy, but nothing will change. 6 months for changes is a lot, you will have time to forget about today's announcement.. they are cunning and unscrupulous..
I think it is not fair at all.
Players spent so much from resources, to time and money in order to get the best operative close range weapon and now, as happened with disc launcher or em rifle, which are been nerfed and become useless, we should completely change again hangar and style of playing, spending much more money to restart the maximizing process on a new weapon or mech.
It is just stealing money.
Plus this is the opposite that has been said on the interview, explaining how mods part was the real issue.
But instead of getting mods part lighter, decision has been made in nerfing and buffing good cashcow weapons and maximize those who werent selling enough. For profit.
Why paying for something that is constantly changing? Often getting worst? Theres no fun in that.
Is like to buy a ferrari and after a while find urself with a bycicle. And those who had a bycicle now got the ferrari. For free.
There is no point in investing if after a while it becomes useless.
To get to the point, this will be a boomerang, with uncertainty and constant change, nobody will spend a single penny.
I honestly think that a beta version and a test period and has to be submitted just for a reasonable period of time. How long do you expect to keep people waiting for the latest and definitive version? Or it is just a way to gain money?
Lol revoker optimal range going from 26m to 20m. Changes nothing for most scenarios except eclipse losers dancing around max range. Surge seeker deathlord losers will see no change.
15% damage nerf might not seem much but it might be significant since it's applied every hit. Still, revoker is outperforming every other close quarters weapon, this will still do plenty of damage.
The most fun part about revoker is the reload system and that's not changing so I don't think this is a crippling nerf.
However, all the other legendary close quarters weapon getting a buff is a big deal.
Howler is basically a revoker now. 3s reload?? Lolol shorter with implants right? And it will have same range as revoker? Oh and it hits multiple targets??
This might be stupid good. But who knows. I can't afford any of these legendary mechs and weapons and 0 announcements on a price drop.
So much "transparency" when it's just a two-week notice of something changing when we have no idea on what's changing nor how it's changing. Practically useless information.
You are basically telling us "don't buy anything until February because we don't know what's going to change or how. LOL no refunds!!"
And legendaries still cost a MILLION CREDITS. how about you change pricing before doing all these changes so we can experiment and use more weapons like you "intend"...
What's the point of making more weapons usable when we can't even afford ONE weapon properly.
Feela like as a f2p player, I'm just stuck buying NOTHING until February and then buying the ONE next op meta weapon.....
Might as well just quit and come back in March.
A nerf as far as i undesrtand in my extensive mobile game playing as i am a 52 yr. old man been playing mobiles since day one, IS A NOOB MISTAKE OR A MISCALCULATED ATTACK!! FOR EXAMPLE
IF I SEND 100k tier 1 to attack 100k tier 3 i just nerfed myself its a mismatch due to player error why would you actually put a nerf purposely in any part of a game leaves me wondering do i even want to play here Anymore and ive spent money here!!! SO NO WONDER A LESSER MECH WITH LESSER WEAPONS WINS AGAINST ME ITS A NERF WRITTEN IN THATS CRAP IM DONE!! All the spenders will leave!!
Unfortunately, that's what's going to happen. As you said, in the last big nerf, they made disc launchers and arc torrents practically useless, and in the case of the arcs, they did the same thing: reduce their optimal range and reduce their damage. Now, there is one advantage: Revokers reload instantly, unlike Arcs. I hope that helps them not become as useless as they did last time, as with the disc launchers I have, which are practically useless to me today.
This is really..... I want to ask and remind!!!
How many people today play with
1. Disk Luncher DL ?- 0
2. EM Rifle? -0
3. Arc Torrent? -0
4. Ember Gun? -0
5. Rocket Mortar? -0
These are some of the rebalanced weapons. Why are you waiting for everyone to take them and max them out, instead of rebalancing (fixing) them in the first month!? This is FRAUD!
This list will grow by 4 more weapons in 4 months!!!
This is INSANE - We asked for this and other over 2 years ago and after the first attempt this is your answer:
Well ets review
4 Buffs for every 1 Nerf
Revoker - Good change - DEFINATELY NEEDED AND THIS MAY EVEN BRING PLAYERS BACK TO THE GAME AS IT MIGHT AGAIN BE CALLED MECH ARENA AND NOT REVOKER ARENA
Hemlock - Acceptable change - The mech is only a problem when Plarium run a 50% cooldown reduction event and the actual ability nerf should only be adjusted by 1-2 seconds at maximum. 6 Seconds added to 10 seconds is a 60% increase and this is really harsh and will make this mech mostly unplayable
2 mechs nerfed with 5 changes so thats 8 mechs or weapons buffed or 20 total changes, lets find out
Howler - Acceptable change
Hellfire - Change to range and the note states Hellfire has good damage and then gives it a 18% buff - WRONG!!!
Suppressor - No practical experience, change will affect the weapon so hopefully this will be good
Savant - Hopefully good change -all points valid
4 weapons buffed with 6 total changes as 2 are acutally hidden nerfs for Howler damage and Savant DD chance
So, again it right here in the colours of this message but effectively here in Black and White that Plarium will tell you 1 thing that will help the game and then do something different/change the specifics
This is possibly the 50th time of asking but its still relevant and will help and improve the game so here we go again
Spectator / observer mode for custom games - This will allow clan games, mini-tournaments, play-for-prize high level player/clan activity. This will also allow new players to watch more experienced player sto learn new tactics or mech/weapon play that they have not experienced yet. There is NO REASON TO NOT HAVE ADDED THIS OPTION IN CUSTOM GAMES OVER 2 YEARS AGO WHEN FIRST ASKED/REPORTED
Referee mode for custom games - This will allow competitions and play-for-prize activity which will increase the game exposure and also allow for custom clan activity
and adjustment to matchmaking to remove instances where a 5,000 power hanger will have to fight an 11,000 power enemy. An enemy more than 2 times powerful but worse afecting the bots in that game to also be 11,000 power bot and enemy against 11,000 power bots and a 5,000 power human. This imbalance is a core game issue again having been reported for over 2 years and suffered continually throughtout this period and also having my specific game unplayable for 1 week after every single new Battle Pass season reset or Rank upgrade/reset.
Uhh, great.
The paid weapons will become even stronger in the coming months, so that free users will finally become floundering targets, all to sell the rich kids a sense of superiority...
This game is self-destructing. Because as soon as only the rich kids are playing against each other and there's a paid advantage for everyone, they'll be abandoned, since they can no longer win every match.
Oh wow, sounds like a good idea, definitely the Hemlock as the ability can be used before the daze has cycled. The Revoker range makes sense but damage reduction!? That's definitely questionable, especially if your buffing other mechs etc. Your going to find us demanding refunds if you mess with its damage.... It's a meta weapon for a reason, and much like the others they countearable.... Increasing the speed of mechs like a Guardian would bring it into usefulness Loadouts.
The players that complain about Revokers are he players that don't pay your wages... The players who have maxed out the free or game accessable mechs of regular currency and struggle to contend. They struggle to contend because they are F2P players.... Don't mug off of us players who fuel the game... smh
