How the hell did the Devs break Exposed Neck mechanics this badly!?

By now most people have seen that Ally Attack against Exposed Necks sucks because the attacks stop when the Neck hp runs out. That's really bad but it's not even the worst part of it!

Multi-Hit attacks ALSO stop if the neck is depleted. IE a Double or Triple hit ability, if the first hit depletes the HP then the 2nd and 3rd hits don't even happen!

I don't get it, I really hope this is some accidental bug that happened with the AI Changes. All we wanted was for Ally Attack to stop going off against Serpent Will heads and the tradeoff seems to be Neck HP mechanics got all screwed up.

This is especially bad for people without say Trunda. Trunda's A2 still functions normally against exposed necks because it's a single hit, so now she's potentially more OP again after the nerfs...

EDIT: Apparently this is WAI and if that is the case, I feel that all abilities that have a "Kill" condition should now proc when a Neck is fully depleted then

They've stated it's not a bug but was INTENTIONALLY changed....

Tbf this makes sense. Though I am curious for trunda, is the damage capped on the amount of hp the head has? Or is it uncapped and just forces respawn after?

I guess it makes sense but no Trunda still does full damage since its a single hit, so she is uncapped lol

It makes NO sense for champs with multi-hit attacks. Forget the Team Up for a second, are you saying that you think it makes sense that if a champ does 2 hits on their A3 that you're fine with the 2nd hit not happening at all?

Also yes, Trunda is uncapped because it's single hit. Like I said. In my original post.

If they're gonna have the necks function the same way as things that can be killed, then they should now ALSO trigger abilities that count as "kills".

Btw and this is to anyone, are you noticing MORE situations of 3-4 Serpent Will buffs than before? It seems to be happening very frequently now...

The serpent will seems the same, it would be hard for it to appear more frequently 😆

It has happenned to me almost constantly on my Hard & Brutal teams since the change 3 wks ago.  A little less frequently on NM becasue I don't kill the necks quite as quickly there, but still enough to make the runs painful.  

I have not run a key today to see if it is any worse after today's new cluster eff.

It seems to be the worst on Normal especially, then Hard. Brutal not so much because the heads cycle less but since this change my Damage has plummeted and two teams are build around ally attack.

Also, I'm not thrilled they've essentially "buffed" Trunda through this nonsense. Necks still count overkill damage from her A2 but Thor is who I put a lot of effort into and now he's taken a bit of a dive. His A1 might not get both hits off AND might not repeat PLUS his Passive now procs on Respawn Heads instead of the remaining Neck

Horse do tend to be good.  You're also cheating with a 6* one.  Meanwhile I've been waiting 3 months for him to show up in the shop again.

As a paying customer, I need to weigh in on this. Based on the description of the issue we received, there were several options available other than the one they chose (roll back limited hp on exposed necks, change multi attacks and ally attacks to be counted as a single block of damage, change the order of operations so that the full string of attacks completes before checking if the neck's hp is depleted).  What "they" failed to do was consider which option would piss off the customer base. This needs to be adjusted and quickly.

Interesting seeing Reap.  6* feels like immediate Rend for me.

I wonder if the issue was something they worried could be exploited (because the server was getting attacks against a target that no longer existed and was actually applying the damage) and that was why they didn't publicize it before a fix was made. I also wonder if they weren't sure if the fix they implemented would resolve the issue (they might actually not even be sure yet) and that's why they didn't mention it in the patch notes. It's possible the danger is still not past and the only reason they have commented at this point is the outrage. They've declared that they want to be as open as possible about their fixes for hydra and hydra clash, but their actions have been the opposite to this point. A good honest "here's what we see as the legitimate problems right now; here's where we want it to be; here is our current timeline for resolutions" would go a long way, at least for me.
