Like, here's a question. If it is a replacement for an ancient shard in a spider tourney, lets say, would it be an improved reward or not?

i'm gonna go with "not" personally. the increased drop rates are nice, but between the limited pool, the restricted timeframe, and the automatic pulls at the end of the event, it's just far less useful a resource than an ancient shard would be.
Nothing showing for me. There's a red dot on my Events icon at the bastion, but no event in there for prism shards.
EDITED: Restarted the game, I see it's in the portal itself. thought Plarium said they'd be starting us off with some prisms? Nothing there to play with at the moment.

Eventually the 30 prisms will show up as a shop popup, like other push offers.

I have to admit, I do like the look of these, and decent rates for a player at my level. It's my birthday this month so might treat myself to a pack. Goodness knows I could do with some decent Sylvan Watchers - or Geomancer, if I get lucky. :)

I would also go with 'not' especially because you cannot collect them. An ancient shard I could save up for the time I want to use it...a prism shard will be automatically pulled whether I like it or not (for example because I do not need any of the champions in the prism pool).
So the flexibility of the prism shard is not existing in comparison with normal shards...the chandes to pull something decent might be better than ancient/void shards...but altogether...it is not improved
Just saw, they replaced the top reward for the Spider turn tournament with 20 crystals...so it is 1 pull you get for 6500 points....ahem...this does not motivate me...
Edit...with my current team I need 10 turns to beat Spider hard 10...that nets me 73 points on the spider turn tournament...so I need about 90 runs on Spider hard 1800 energy to get 20 prism crystals....aehm...no...

Yeah, you need 20 fragments to equal one pull...
So odd - Plarium could sell tons of packs if they were shards, not fragments. Instead, they've decided to only target the biggest spenders and cut out any one else who might have been tempted to spend. What an odd way to do business!

Sure and if you had a 3% chance to get these champions from blue shards they would sell a ton of shards. While there is certainly a pay-to-play aspect of this game you don't want to shift it so far that only those that can pay regularly, can play.
It is a ballance.
My guess is these new "shards" are targeted towards new customers. The value seems good, but the limited pool does not appeal to the long-term player.
Definitely not targeting whales per se, just all new spenders.
These are catchup events so new money can cut the gap on old money.
Old money will continue chasing void 10x and soulstones.

Wow. Plarium just can't do anything that is actually in the interest of their playerbase, and not money for them. Ooo thanks for the free 30 prism shards. But these greedy &*(%s put the pulls at 20. Forcing you to waste the "free" 10 or buy more. I get they only care about money, but come on. If you give 30 for free, and only intend to give one free pull, then make the just give 20. And then of course they only way to get more shards is all benefitting the whales. What a shit company.

My opinion on this is the same as every new feature or function: Plarium needs to hire or outsource to more competent copywriters. Once again the descriptions are needlessly serpetine and dense. What is the prism event? How does it work? What do you do to participate? What does "rewarding period mean?" These are the things that announcements should address in comprehensible ways.

Instead of leaving, to use your scenario, change. And then let everyone participate equally in contests/tournaments to have a chance to earn more.

You do realise those extra 10 crystals is just to goad you into spending money. Just look at the purchase offers. $4.99 for 20 shards. (1 pull, still 10 left). $19.99 for 80 shards. (4 pulls, still 10 left). Oh but wait. For $49.99 I can get 210 shards.... I can finally make use of those extra 10 "free" shards. Just gotta pay $49.99. So again, you missed my point. It's great they put this event in for the chance for something. Just don't blow smoke up my ass with the extra "free" 10. Oh, and to answer your question. Yes, I would rather NOT get the extra 10. I'm not a whale, so they are just going to sit and rot.
