PSA - 5 Minutes to Complete Daily Live Arena Quest

Live Arena and the Daily Live Arena Quest are very likely here to stay. If you came to the forum to complain about it, that isn't going to help you, me or anyone else. By now, the Mods have surely passed on more than enough feedback expressing general player distate for this quest. Plarium Devs march to the beat of their own drum most of the time.    

However, this quick plan may help you complete that pesky little Daily Quest, and get back to the parts of the game you like better in about 5 minutes. All you need to do is ride the bots.

If you are in Bronze or Silver, you will be given a bot team after three consecutive losses, so here is the plan:

(1) Open a fight

(2) As soon as an opponent is found and you have the ability to exit the fight, exit the fight and take the loss

(3) Repeat two more times

(4) Fight the Bot, collect your 20 multi-battles and go play the rest of the game.  

Final thought:  If you can't beat the Bot Teams, find a different game because Raid is not for you. 

@Mods: would it be worth pinning this for a couple of months?  I should have thought to type it up earlier.

This might explain why better teams leave the battle and give my bad team an easy win.

There is a ton of throwing fights in LA.  I do it every night and have for months now.  I'll take my 3-7 to get my energy and quest done.  Also gives me enough wins per month to get the primals.

There is a ton of throwing fights in LA.  I do it every night and have for months now.  I'll take my 3-7 to get my energy and quest done.  Also gives me enough wins per month to get the primals.

I've been doing that the last couple days, and the results of my experiment are disturbing:


Had a live token refill from sin city that was about to expire, couldn;t be arsed to put in the effort, so I quit 5 times and gave away freebie wins

The next day, I got super easy matchups, guys who have just barely hit gold 3, points 4800-4825 compared to my 5400ish

Got 5 easy wins in a row, then quit for the next 5 fights

Did it again the next day, same results, did it again today. same results.


Even though it's advantagious for me, this matchmaking manipulation SHOULD be considered a serious problem and addressed.

Yes it's somewhat well known that throwing gets you easier fights.  Recency Win Rate appears to play a large role in matchmaking.

I think short is correct that WR recency is somehow included for matching within tier. I'm not sure how this is even remotely bad? 

Reducing time to pick/act is only change needed imo.

Still ZERO screenshots on here or reddit or anywhere where someone has shown a 10 battle day that demonstrates anything wrong with matchmaking.

Matchmaking should produce approximately fair fights. If every battle is a radical difference resulting in an immediate blow-out, that's an issue. And if players can actively skew that in their favor, thats a big problem imo.

Is it the biggest problem at the moment? No, not even close. But it's something to add onto the list for future improvements.

While I 100% agree with the "Reducing time to pick/act" is definitely needed, a couple things:

MR said it was a "Serious Problem" but nowhere wrote it was a "Priority fix" so I think the interpritation here was a bit off. Also I wouldn't say the ONLY change needed is the time-reduction.

That being said, I will also agree with your sentiment that I'm not feeling this as some sort of issue BUT I'm not in Gold. 

What I'm trying to understand is why this is a problem overall? Is it preventing people in Gold from getting to Platinum since you can throw matches very quick and then win a bunch quickly with a total net gain of points?

Or is it screwing up matchmaking so that players with weaker teams are forced to fight stronger teams constantly?

MR said it was a "Serious Problem" but nowhere wrote it was a "Priority fix" so I think the interpritation here was a bit off. Also I wouldn't say the ONLY change needed is the time-reduction.

That being said, I will also agree with your sentiment that I'm not feeling this as some sort of issue BUT I'm not in Gold. 

What I'm trying to understand is why this is a problem overall? Is it preventing people in Gold from getting to Platinum since you can throw matches very quick and then win a bunch quickly with a total net gain of points?

Or is it screwing up matchmaking so that players with weaker teams are forced to fight stronger teams constantly?

My main concern is the unfairness for people who JUST got into gold 4 immediately getting outmatched and dropping back into gold 3. I remember how frustrating it was when it happened to me.

heh, my *second* fight today was against an OBV guy with +4 Ankora/Narses/Taras (only +3, loser)/Marischka


I was in the LA beta, and my very first fight ever was against a RAT guy who's spent approximately 1000 times as much money as I have 😂

I don't think comparisons to siege or cvc tanking are valid at all.  

And I honestly don't see a problem with essentially matching winners with winners, losers with losers within tier? Honestly if this was applied to siege it would significantly mitigate the problems.  

If all win rates (outside of extreme outliers at the tails) are converging (pushed) towards 50% as N increases isn't that "fair"?

Last point.  Why do you all pick 4 rares instead of quitting immediately on selection screen?

I think've we've all noticed from time to time that text can be hard to determine the level of emphasis and is widely open to interpretation that may or may not have been intended.

No need to apologize to me :)


I mean, you make a decent point about win rate being pushed towards 50/50 regardless, but I don't think what was intended by the devs is that every battle being massively one-sided, even if which side you're on evens out over time.


Fwiw, I do quit immediately, that 4 rares pick was Shorty's

I'm not sure if I believe anyone that says they went 0 for 10 tbh.  

If anyone can actaully lose 10 in a row, I wrote this line for them:  "Final thought:  If you can't beat the Bot Teams, find a different game because Raid is not for you."

Personally, I think my worst streak in G4 Live has been 7 losses in a row....on the flip side, I have had 8 wins in a row, and for that very brief span of time, I fantasized about snagging that fancy "Are You Not Entertained" Badge.

There is no Platinum for LA...at least not yet.
