Sounds like a great idea! I'd pass this on to the team.

We need a matchmaking system with less variables not more. And we need proper power ratings for every item in the game. For every variable you introduce there's more that can go wrong. It's actually gonna be a terrible idea to follow OPs advice

nerfing favorite sp droppers mechs only make them switch to other mechs..

but i realized the forum is not for us to talk to developers and convince them our logic, its for us to talk between ourselves.. and between ourselves this subject is pointless.

That's cause if developers listened to us and let us try and convince them of anything then they might actually have to do stuff they don't want which may earn them less money than they were earning befor. If they let us talk amongst ourselves without participating they don't set any expectations so they can sit on their asses more.

"IDK why should a rank 4 Nomad (a legendary mech) deal significantly lower dash damage than a Rank 4 Killshot (epic mech). And when I checked why it was, and I got to know that they are nerfed because many SP droppers use it to get unfair advantage"

Yeah the nomad and dreadnaught nerfs defy logic. The nerfs don't solve SP dropping (guess what the latest popular SP dropping mech is - redox!) and make these mechs completely undesirable even for regular players.

Genuinely for the longest time I wanted a nomad because in my head, it was a better killshot. I am a heavy killshot user, it's the only mech I have at rank 6 while the rest are 4 and below and thats cuz I've has this mech since the beginning of the game and felt it des3rvee it. However for me to beat the bots and highly advanced players or even the new players with legendaries, I thought a nomad would be the normal progression but after trialing it and seeing it's stats, I was honestly glad I had my killshot instead. I don't use any legendary weapons on it so it's legit just an epic mech with missile rack 8 and if anything I'm trying to get storm racks to hopefully keep up. I stopped playing for two or more years because I just couldn't seem to enjoy losing so much when I spent so much effort tho I'm really glad I never deleted the game for pilots like Neymar and my 12yo's self's efforts have made life easier. And then I hear about the returning players code and just can't believe it. I somehow got Hemlock after spending an ungodly amount of credits because I didn't know any better and have tried to get the legendary weapons and such but after coming to the game after 2-3 years and playing for a month (I very recently hit the tengu reward thing for login) I then hear abt returning players getting a legendary just like that! And I wasn't going to decrease my own progress by going offline and trying to get it because thered be no point. I just think itd be nice to be kinder to players who try to play ur game the way it should be intended but instead ppl drop ungoldly amounts of money and soar to the top. The only thing I dont like is that f2p are heavily disadvantaged when many can't even afford things even if they wanted to. As far as ik the game is 11+ but regardless we shouldn't makes f2p hate p2w players since most of the time - it's someone trying to enjoy the game using their hard earned money. And thats the sad thing, both sides are at each others throats but really there's not much to do. P2w force themselves to spend more money so they can keep being at the top, and f2p players keep getting discouraged, leave the game or try to spend loads of time grinding to make up for their lack of money. Is this really how a game is supposed to be?

i really really really really honestly dont understand why so many people are moaning about p2win, how do you even tell the difference and why does it even matter??? I have not paid anything, im full hangar of legendary mechs and weapons and pilots..

But that is not even the point, how do you tell the difference if im pay2win or fight2play???

The matchmaking puts you against random enemies ACCORDING TO YOUR HANGAR POWER... why would anyone in the world care if that Versa is bought by your enemy or won in ECR crate rush? Why does it matter??

You just probably not great at the game and blaming somebody (p2w) helps you feel better somehow? Ohh i lost because he is p2w and i dont spend, this game sux right?

The matchmaking is just totally removing this issue, if i buy all legendary mods all legendary weapons all legendary mechs and all legendary everything my hangar power will not be 5k anymore, it will be 17k, are you trying to say that you are paired against 17k hangars?

No, normally you dont, so all you said above about p2w and f2p is pure nonesense to me, all i hear is bla bla moan moan bla bla moan moan bla bla.. nothing relevant to reality.

Its just like crying that PC users get more quests and rewards than android users. Ok now PC users dont get extra tokens, because of your moans, HOW EXACTLY IT MADE YOUR LIFE BETTER? neighbour's cow died, little things, but making us happy right?

I didn't mention that we need a new variable, all I said is that we want a "new matchmaking system" which can clearly "know" how each hangar slot is filled and how is each loadout contributes to a players SP. SP Droppers have one strong mech with strong weapon while all of their other mechs and weapons are too weak. Many a times, some mechs are nerfed due to SP droppers which ruins the experience with the nerfed mech. Also, all players with similar kinds of weapons have similar playstyles, so to promote teamplay and discourage excessive camping-style gameplay we need the new updates.

I'm not asking the devs to add/sutract power of a mech/weapon. I ask them to develop a system which will discourage SP dropping and let players experience different playstyles and use some of their "skill" along with their mech and weapon instead of constant spamming with overpowered content

Just ensure betrr matchmaking, it is very unfair and mostly leads to continuously losing 3-6 matches (worst case scenario which happens with me) becoz of how unfair the opps are

The original post is not specific. I think more than sp is already considered, as I just discovered.

I swapped out a 5 star seeker for a maxed volti in one hanger which now has 8799 sp. With Seeker in it, I was competitive and could win and prodice 5+ kills a fair amount of the time.Opponants were generally 5 star with some max mixed in. With Volti put in, I lose most games with 1-2 kills. Opponents are often max mechs with max weapons. My performance drop is not because Volti is not as good of a mech as Seeker.

Maybe I appear to be sp dropping and the algorithm is punishing me. In that hanger I also have a 4 star Scorpius and 4 star Stalker. I just haven't been able to develop them yet.

I would just say that the huge number of combinations of mechs, weapons, implants, pilots, mods- it's very hard to really match to everyone's liking. Then throw in skill differences.

But I would say it seems something like a max Paragon is given too much credit while a max Orion not enough.

Pay to win is fake. If you are a free to play player, great. Don't think buying a mech/weapon/upgrade will make you win more. It doesn't. It just increases your competition.

Your explanation is valid to some extent, but the game clearly looks onto a single "skew" (In ur post it's your maxed Volti) and assumes that you have maxed out all mechs in ur hangar. That should not happen. You might be SP dropping (because that's how an SP dropper uses one-two maxed mechs/weapons and the rest are all very weak compared to the maxed items) and my post has provided a solution to get rid of SP Dropping permanently.

If the matchmaking could look at all your equipped gear, It can identify you have a maxed volti, rank 4 scorpius and rank 4 stalker (As you stated in your example, I don't wanna assume anything, for the sake of simplicity) and pair similar players who have one maxed legendary mech, and two rank 4 mechs from a legendary and rare class. If such matchmaking happens, you can use your skills and try to win the game. I don't want to ruin the matchmaker and also the game experience by matching exact copy skill, mech, weapons, everything exact copy style.

Hope I had explained you my point (I admit that my OP wasn't clear because I'm not a Dev to provide a clear-cut solution to a problem in the game)

They wont change anything they have known for over 4 years and did nothing, what makes you think they will now lol. They keep it this way to make whales happy and that is all that matters to them and nothing will ever change that

I think the suggestion makes a lot of sense because good matchmaking is one of the biggest factors in whether a game feels fun or frustrating, especially over longer play sessions. In my experience, even small improvements to how players are grouped based on skill, experience, or recent performance can make matches feel much more balanced and enjoyable. It also reminds me of Kukasoittie , where thoughtful feedback from the community can lead to meaningful improvements over time. If you could change just one thing about the current matchmaking system, what would it be?

as a starter i would leave the matchmaking exactly the same that would look at SP power of hangar, but i would introduce/amend next step that groups players against each other.

This would look at players win %, so basically player with 2 k hangar & 90% win would fight against 2k hangar and 90% win, not against 50% win.

Ideally it would match players on same basis so that all SP dropers would play against each other in their own puddle, normal players are 50% win rate and so 2k 50% vs 2k 50% should be fair, 2k 10% vs 2k 90% is not fair.

The math required only in case we match 1k hangar  vs 2k hangar, which would require thinking if 1k 90% is equal to 2k 10% or not..

But basically if we imagine that its a yes, then we have some new Matchmaking variable.. so 1k * 1.9 (90% win) = 1.9 for SP droper guy.. and 2k * 1.1 (10% win) = 2.2 for crappy player.. Based on that we could either group people together deciding which player goes against which.. or a total rethink of matchmaking that decides which players are a match.

And instead of changing current matchmaking this could go into temporarily new testing matchmaking mode for those interested to try and tell if it makes sense.

The second thing i would change is remove bots with deathwalkers and citadels. Potentially also Parasites, Seekers and Redoxes. Matchmaking just fails to evaluate how those will affect the match.. with certain weapons they either useless or they are top player MVPs and game fails to match them correctly or predict the logic and outcome. Redox bots are usually MVPs and i dont get why their ability is buffed for so many weeks to come. And giving them weapons and assigning teams is pure nonesense, one team with get seeker with stasis beams and another with revokers or strike rockets, same goes gor other bots i mentioned above and it totally changes the outcome of already bad matchmaking

Do matchmaking on wepon and mech tier not player rank.

The Matchmaking system is the way it is because it generates income. Fairness isn't their number 1 goal. It is to create wins and losses in a certain fashion to get the player the feel they need to spend money to get a better playing experience. I've been in this forum for years and seen many good suggestion and it none ever gets implimented because it goes against their buisness model.

I don't fault them for wanting to make money, I just not of fan of how they go about it.

But the thing is, they can get better income if they could compromise the "buisness model" as you have stated  in your post and provide fair matches to all people

You would think, but unfair play generates more money. Why do you think almost all games these days has some P2W aspects to them. Their matchmaking is designed to make you want to upgrade under the illusion your will be more powerful. Fastested way to upgrade is with making purchases with real money. If fair play was the better buisness model they most certainly would be doing it.

Why do you think we have stars and levels on weapons/bots? To created a wider field of differences that power can be bought. Who is going to want to upgrade if their skill is winning matches?

You are 101% true. But still there's a limit to promote a P2W style, and Mech Arena is not promoting a "Pay to Win" scenario. In fact, you can be a P2P anytime during game progression, but you'll still be matched against players with stronger gear and 'forced' to lose. And winning matches with 'skill' does not necessarily mean you can win enemies with stronger gear. Mech/weapon stars are just "necessary qualifications" that you must satisfy in order to defeat enemies, higher rarity and higher stars simply mean you can easily defeat enemies who have lower rarity and low star mechs/weapons

I support fair matches not only because it promotes skill, it also encourages players to regularly play the game, which will boost their income (if they ever thought to watch ads, or buy new in-game content for real money). A game will attain long-term success only after it gives all players a fun experience and zero bias.

matchmaking shouldn't be a huge mystery. they need to just give us the parameters. clearly, they want us to build balanced hangars instead of just maxing out 1 mech. So just give us the rules And it can be as simple as brackets and 20% rule to prevent SP dropping example... brackets could be 2000-4000. 4001-6000. 6001-8000. 8001-10k and so on.

then give the additional 25% rule to prevent SP droppers. Example "if one mech in your hangar exceeds 25% power of your weakest mech, you will be matched as if all 5 mechs are equal to your strongest mech. That means if you have 1 mech with 2000HP then your weakest mech needs to be 1500HP.

brackets And percentages don't have to be exactly this but clear and simple rules would eliminate the frustration that we all feel as soon as we finally upgrade a weapon and then are all of the sudden matched against people with twice our power. They would sell more weapons this way and actually promote building a solid hangar instead of just maxing out one OP mech.

Spot on buddy! I hope a Dev would use this to fix current matchmaking algorithm.
