You know, I think you're on to something here.
They don't care what your squad power is. All the match making is done on some unknown "skill value" that is set up to keep you at 50-60% wins (at least, I think that's what the target number is). In other words, if you have skill - you know how to use the maps, mechs, and weapons to their fullest - you will be punished because they can't have it.
The single biggest problem with working the issue of different player skills in this way is that they obviously don't have a good limiter on it. Its fine to put a skilled player against *slightly* tougher opponents to create competition, but if you do it to the point that the player is feeling steamrolled, well, that's bad business as the player will eventually leave. I don't want to see that happen.
As players, we are all working under the impression (having been lead down this path by the game itself) that power (weapon power, mech power, squad power, etc.) means something. It is a representation of how powerful your equipment is and if you can develop your skill as a player, you should be successful. We are also lead to believe that power is the biggest factor in match making. In all of this, I'm beginning to realize that we are wrong.
If you really want proof, just look at how hard it is to get 4-6 wins in a row. After 3-4, you'll run into a wall and get your butt handed to you. There is no way that is random or good for the game. People just rage quit. If that happens enough, they don't come back.
I know there is a problem with SP droppers, but you can't punish all of us just to catch them. I've proposed other solutions to that problem before and still believe that they could help, if not outright solve that particular problem.
I'm going to try this win streak again. But I don't want my family getting mad at me because I'm enraged from facing opponents with mechs, weapons, pilots, and implants WAY above me and mine. This is a fun, cute little game. I really do love it and will give you all some time to figure it out. However, I've been saying that for months now, and at the end of the day, no game is worth my health or relationships with my family. I don't mind losing if I feel I have a chance and the other player is just better than me, but when I'm being taken out to the back alley and getting the stuff kicked out of me by someone who can simply one-shot me, then I'm just getting mad and saying out loud: "I hate this game." Which all of my family replies with "so why don't you quit?"
I'll give a bit of time. I don't expect a miracle (like a sudden and immediate fix - lol ), but I need to see or hear about some real progress. And no, I'm sorry, but "we are working on it" can't be the answer. I can only hear that so many times before I need to see it for myself.
Thank you for your time and understanding.
