The EM Rifles are still strong
Browsing the forums today I saw a thread complaining how the EM Rifles are "Useless" after their nerf. I on the other hand completely disagree with that thought, and believe that the EM Rifles are still just about as powerful as they were before.
The aim-assist feature that the weapons uniquely had over most other sniper weapons made them a weapon that required almost no skill to kill most mechs in a single shot with two high-energy rifles. You'd find almost every competent player using them would negate the downside of the windup by hiding themselves behind a wall until it was just about to fire.
Removing aim assist makes them take more skill to use, while still allowing them to one-shot most mechs. Now making them essentially a railgun that reloads faster, or a longarm that dumps all of its damage immediately and doesn't have as extreme of a low-damage range. The lack of aim-assist also makes it easier to hit the target you're aiming for, especially against stealth mechs, or two mechs on different levels of an arena.
If your reaction to the EM Rifles getting nerfed is switching to the Railgun or Longarms, that is an overreaction, because those weapons have similar damage outputs, and the same lack of aim assist.
