to get to level 8 you have to downgrade a level 7 so one of the leagues that works "cooperatively" would have to take a downgrade twice
not ideal but it could be done
during the downgrade/upgrade process you have to be prepared to defend it while it upgrades but when downgraded you are given a 24 grace period where the fortress cannot be downgraded further so if you timed things properly and you are willing to spend saphs you could complete the process quickly but yes its hard to find fortresses to downgrade you could wait and watch for the appropriate levels to downgrade but it will be risky to hit them as they have force limits as to how much offense you can send to them

I know that there was lost of discussion early on about attacking certain level fortresses in order to upgrade your leagues fortress.
I didn't really understand their question but in reading it I came up with a question of my own.
To start it off.
EXAMPLE: Your fortress is at Level 10 and I need to downgrade another leagues level 10 in order to upgrade to level 11. I look for another leagues level 10 but find a league fortress leveled to 20. I manage to downgrade that leagues level 20 fortress to level 19 and get the achievement required to level my fortress to 11.
QUESTION: When I go to level my fortress from level 11 to level 12 will I have to downgrade a fortress level 11 or higher? Will our league have to continue to level down fortresses every time we go to upgrade our fortress? After we have already downgraded that level 20 to level 19 does that achievement carry over to each fortress level upgrade attempt from here on out?

Hi there
If I read the replies above as correct, if our fortress is at level5 we must upgrade it to level 6 first before downgrading a level 6 fort, then upgrade to level 7 and then do a level 7 fort to go to lvl 8. Nope you can't skip it . You will need to downgrade that lvl6 to go up by one lvl and then downgrade the lvl7 to go up to 8 .
You are lvl 5
Upgrade to lvl6 with glory points
Downgrade a lvl6 + the glory points will take you to lvl7
Downgrade a lvl7 + the glory points will take you to lvl8 .
No other way , No skip to anything.

The mechanics are as follows:
1) You reach level 7.
2) You downgrade level 7.
3) You can upgrade to level 8.
4) You can be downgraded to level 7 again.
5) You won't have to downgrade another level 7, it already counts.
8) You can upgrade to level 8 again.

So if you have a Beacon when you start the upgrade and subsequently loose it, the upgrade will continue through completion. However, to go to the next level you must meet those requirements which are even more stringent.

i dont wanna go directly to level 8 (from level 5) but i wanted to know that if i am at level 5 and attack a level 7 (what you need to do to go to level 8) i dont need to attack a level 6 also .... i hope i explain it ok? :) the normal way would be to attack a level 6 first to go to level 6.... but i want to skip this step and attack a level 7 so i can upgrade to 6, 7, 8 without attacking any other fortresses

OK I know I am late to the conversation but I have a question about upgrading
when I upgrade from lvl 5 to 6 can I hit my lvl 6 downgrade WHILE my upgrade is in progress or do I have to wait until its fully processed to lvl 6 before I can do my lvl 6 downgrade?
