the one on the right

my guess is all 3 baskets looked the same before the asp came along.

the merchant could see through holes in the left basket, no asp there. it may have been there to damage the basket when leaving.

the sign that had been there fell and hit the floor.

it seems if the asp separated the lid from the top edge of the basket, the goodies? sign would fall. and it a venomous asp not a gifted sign hanging asp. so no asp in the center.

that leaves the one on the right, and the right edge of the picture appears to have a little bit of a blur as if venom may have been spit on the right side. also the sign that was on it fell to the floor.

or maybe i am reading too much into it.

The left one is emty ... as the merchant could be able to look into the basket ...... the center has a nice shield            " goodies " but its a wrong information to distract from the correct basket ...

oberon cannot be fooled. he knows that the best and last vessel contains the asp, and would not touch it. the right cask is it.
