Mods Rework Announcement

Thank you for all your feedback about Mods! Your suggestions have been invaluable. We strive to make the game an engaging and fun experience for all players, which is why we’ll be making some changes.

Mods were originally added to expand build options and improve Mech survivability. However, we recognise the need to make the system more balanced and fair for everyone.

The rework will be released on April 2nd. Here’s what’s changing:

  • Mods unlock for Rank 3 Mechs: Mods will now become available once a Mech reaches Rank 3, regardless of when a player joined.
  • Lower prices: The price of obtaining and upgrading Mods for non-Legendary Mechs will be reduced to make them more accessible for early and mid-game players (Common -50%, Uncommon -40%, Rare -30%, Epic -15%).
  • Adjustments to multi-layered shields: Blockade ML and Perimeter ML Mods will have fewer shield layers, but the total Shield HP will remain the same. Minor balance tweaks may be made to this if needed.
  • Upgrades will be tied to Ranks: You will only be able to upgrade Mods up to your Mech’s Rank (e.g. Rank 3 Mech → Level 3 Mods; Rank 4 Mech → Level 4 Mods, etc.)
  • Resource refunds: If any of your Mods are at Levels that exceed your Mech’s Rank, the extra invested resources will be fully refunded and the Mods will be downgraded to meet the Mech’s Rank.

Please note that Tournaments will be temporarily paused, starting from March 31, and will resume once the update is live.

We hope this improves your experience in the Arena and we welcome any feedback you might have.

So you're nerfing the ML mods with less shields, you are destroying the game completely by listening to whinny players who haven't used a lot of mod parts to upgrade them,

you really should let us scrap mods for mod parts and be able to get back what we wasted on upgrading these ML mods so we can buy the stronger ones and upgrade them instead because these ML mods are going to be useless now

So where are all my mod parts? I've been earning 55 for ever three logins a week but there are only 100 in my inventory? Anyone else missing all their stuff?

We see your point. The goal of these changes is to improve overall balance, but we’ll share your feedback with the team.

Please try restarting the game first, and if the issue persists, reach out to Support with your player ID so the team can investigate this for you.

Many of the bots have already been nerfed like Eclipse, it has now become just like an Epic bot after investing thousands of A-coins and hours of playing. Now you nerf ML mods. What will be left for such so-called legendary bots. Instead, you should give some new extra buff for such bots which are really struggling. And if you are so much concerned for those whose bots got nerfed, you should have returned their A-coins at least. Or let's just destroy the game. Keep on nerfing

Plz think.

Exactly, I've used about 13000 legendary mod parts maxing out my ML mods on 9 mechs, took me so long to save them up, now it's just a waste, they really are destroying the game badly, we spend long times saving resources to max things and boom they nerf them out of no where to please all the whinny low hanger players

A balance for who? All low level players who complain about everything?

What about us high power players that spend alot of time and resources upgrading these things, just for them to be nerfed, how does that balance anything for us when it just makes our hangers weaker

Developers: The problems that players complain about the most are how mods being restricted makes the game unfair for some of the player base and Revokers are so insanely over powered because they rip through mod shields like a chainsaw. I know! Let's make the game worse for everyone, not just the new players and at the same time make Revokers even more over powered by making shields even worse! Yes, this is definatly a smart move and will cause no future issues what-so-ever! I am a very high IQ smart person! That is I!

Dear Plarium Support & Development Team,

I am writing as a paying player of Mech Arena to formally express my concern regarding the upcoming Mods Rework announced for April 2nd, and to offer constructive suggestions that I believe would better serve both the player community and Plarium’s business interests.

CONCERN: CHANGES TO PURCHASED CONTENT

Many players, myself included, have invested real money into Mechs, weapons, and Mods based on their advertised capabilities at the time of purchase. Repeated rebalances that reduce the effectiveness of purchased content — including the reduction of Blockade ML and Perimeter ML shield layers — erode player trust and raise legitimate questions about the value of future purchases.

While I understand that Plarium’s Terms of Use permit these changes, I would argue that exercising this right repeatedly and without compensation is damaging to long-term player retention and the game’s reputation.

FAIR REBALANCE PRINCIPLES

I’d like to suggest that any future rebalancing consider the following principles:

1. Grandfather existing purchases — players who already own and upgraded items should retain their current stats, with nerfs only applying to newly acquired items going forward.

2. Offer resource compensation — if a purchased item is downgraded, fully refund the real-money value in premium currency, not just in-game resources.

3. Communicate change ideas in advance with a meaningful feedback window before rollout is planned.

ALTERNATIVE DESIGN PROPOSAL: COUNTER-MECHANICS OVER NERFS

Rather than reducing the effectiveness of items players have paid for, I’d like to propose an alternative approach to balance that I believe would also be more profitable for Plarium.

Instead of nerfing ML Mod shield layers, introduce a new Pilot with a specialized skill designed to counter ML Mods — for example, an ability that can pierce or disrupt multi-layered shields.

Why this works better for everyone:

• Players who feel ML Mods are overpowered now have a purchasable counter-option

• Players who invested in ML Mods still feel their purchase was worthwhile

• Plarium generates new revenue from players motivated to purchase the counter Pilot

• The meta evolves naturally through addition rather than subtraction

• Player goodwill and trust in future purchases is preserved

This model — solving balance through new content rather than stripping existing content — is used successfully by many leading live-service games and tends to result in stronger long-term monetization.

I am genuinely invested in this game’s success and would welcome the opportunity to discuss these ideas further. I’m happy to contribute additional design suggestions if that would be of value to your team.

Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback. I hope it is received in the constructive spirit in which it is intended.

What if they say..."2 would be perfect". The so called MULTI- layered stuff. Oh with addition that HP will remain same. What a relief isn't it.

For the most part, this is what we have been asking for.

I know that I have never asked for changes to how each mod works, so not sure on the changes to the multi-layered shields will work. I only have 1 mech right now that can use mods, so still not really up to speed on them all. It seems like since the shields will still have the same health, they should be ok, but again, I don't know.

absolutely, imagine how much more content becomes viable again, weapons that used to be permenantely buried underneath the revoker/storm rack meta, now revoker / storm rack / burrow beam meta, have a chance of being usable again, because there will be less mod layers - so Tetra rifle might finally be able to have its ultimate shot fire without any mods (i think that's how they designed it), perhaps even the old ember gun can be a viable brawler weapon again.

Agreed with those who spent money on content that is getting nerfed now, i.e. mechs and weapons, but Plarium have listen to all the compaints about lack of compensation, and they are now compensating for the mod nerf! Honestly, you can't fu#@ing win!

PS. Seen the announcement about tournament daily limits, music to my ears, they actually ran a test on that a while ago, and it felt like a great "fair-maker". Then they removed it but I felt it really was needed to allow people who can't become nolifers for life reasons remain competitive.

PS2. I have paid for content that has since been nerfed, just so it's clear.

With all this nerfing going on. Are us players that put money in the game getting a refund? It's like buying a truck with 4x4 and someone buys a base model truck for less with only front wheel drive that doesn't have 4x4. So you disable the truck with 4x4 to made it like the base model.
