What I think is that

Yes pay to win is stupid but bruv how do you expect the game to run without money and yes pay to win might give you unfair advantages and possibly guarantee your match but I'm playing against pay to win aswell and I'm having a 50-50% of win and loss the thing is about skill which sometimes you don't have

Dont hate the player, hate those that abuse their mamas credit card

DDon't

You are paying to have a better chance at winning. So you pay to play this game.

When your opponents are constantly maxed out, you have no choice but to pay for upgrades.

And of course once you get your mech upgraded enough to compete, they nerf the weapons and mechs.

If you ever played a true "play to win" game, you wouldn't be calling this one play-to-win.

Play to win means a team with maxes out everything could be put against a team of 5 with entry-level, low rank, mechs and weapons.  This doesn't happen.

Yes, you may not have high rank mechs and weapons and see an opponent with significantly higher sp. But is that the whole team? Probably not. Is it every match? Probably not. Is it enough to piss you off? Obviously.

I play a low sp squad sometimes, and sometimes I get high rank opponents, but it isn't the whole team. It isn't every mech.

The fact is that the developers try to roughly match teams. It is very hard and not perfect, but for sure if they stopped, matches would be 1000x worse and it'd truly be pay to play.

It's crazy to me that people who play and enjoy the content created by the hard work of others act like participation without playign is some type of moral high ground. FYI it's not. F2P = Freeloader to play. In a world where a single fast food meal is $10-15 if you have never paid a single dime for a game you play and enjoy then you are seriously misguided. Chip into the success of things you like or don't be supprised when they are no longer around or when the content they create and sale caters to those that pay for their kids to have food and clothes.

Dude, P2W only unlocks content early, increases the rate of progress but has no effect on whether you won or not. I have defeated people with awesome hangars using my Stalker, nuked whole teams with my Redeemer, blocked Legendary Mechs with my Panther, danced my opponents to death using my Lancer. If you can't win then it's not because of P2W, P2W is useless unless you back your expenditure with skill, so my advice is to get good. The game has changed a lot since you left it, it's a lot more complex.

Also, a little help Drew. I tried changing my Avatar to my usual, by uploading my burning hot Avatar, but the save button isn't working. Is there any requirement to create your own Avatar?

No, I'm not. Technically, Mech Arena is not a P2W game, so I'm just highlighting this fact and explaining why I think so.

The thing is, nobody with plarium will ever come out and say that the game is not pay to win. They think they are in the right, and nothing will change their minds. I was going to list a bunch of other people in history that also thought they were doing the right thing, but figured that would be more cruel trying proving the point, and since this is just a game, it doesn't merit that type of comparison.

The Gold Champion Event is a way to really show it. A few of the people that got the highest total might have been sitting on stuff to upgrade weapons and mechs, but I bet the majority of them just bought their upgrades. I got to 5205th place doing all the upgrades I could with what I had sitting there, and that was the highest I could get. So no free weapon for me, but I knew from the beginning that I never had a chance.

A lot of it depends on how fast a non-paying player wants to progress. I spent over a year saving up on resources (acoins and credits) and now am able to take part in most ECRs and get gear that is otherwise still locked for me. I now have a lot of the same gear (though not at the same ranks) as a paying player. Not saying everyone should be as patient as me :-), but any other player will not really be able to distinguish between my f2p hangar and a paying player's hangar (at the same SP).

The point I'm trying to make is that (for a third person) the lines between an f2p and paying player are now quite blurred, and so the usual "pay to win" complaint is becoming less and less valid. What remain valid complaints are the bad matchmaking and tacit support for tankers, irrespective of whether paying or non-paying players are involved.

Finally, on the gold event, I'll briefly share my pov - I completely ignore such events. Just like I ignore every ad for the next luxury car :-). I can't get it and don't need it. But the other events (silver, bronze and similar events) are very much within reach and I've placed in the top 3 in such events more than once. They actually help f2p progression quite a bit.

(Small disclaimer: I'm not 100% f2p. I've made the odd purchase for stuff like the gold battle pass, but not anything to significantly change my hangar ability.)

I can see your point for player that have been in the game for a while now, but for new players, they do have to deal with P2W even more now. With long time players getting either bored or upset with the current matchmaking, they are making new accounts. And since they know what they are doing now, and they know what to buy to maximize their new accounts, it is making the problem even bigger for the new F2P players coming in for the first time. I made a new account almost 2 months ago now, and I have seen accounts with less then 200 total games played with higher inventory powers then my first account which is a little over a year old now. That is another reason I argue that inventory power should play some sort of role in matchmaking, just not sure how big or small.

And to add, while I am a F2P player, on my main account I did pay $2 from my google play account one week to finish up an event to get extra a-coins. It didn't really help much, so that was it for me. That was early on when I started playing. lol

Agreed, and to make matters worse new players think (like I did when I was new) that upgrading stuff is the right thing to do. And that just pits them against even more mismatched opponents.

But there's not much that can be done about the kinds of issues you raise (is there?).

On the other hand, if Plarium were to miraculously take matchmaking seriously and stop pitting 3 star paragons against 3 star deathwalkers (with or without accounting for inventory power as you suggest), it would solve a huge part of the problem. It would matter less that somebody purchased something or that they took gear hub shortcuts that they learned from their first account.

Yeah it's not the spenders it's the system.

Sounds like you agree with the original post by giving CrystalDrew a hard time about his Opinion.  Sucks to be you that you don't have the Meta or the best weapon.
