My observation is the matchmaking is making a serious error in that it assumes my performance when playing with 4 of my clanmates is the same as when I play alone. With 4 clanmates I look awesome because they are filling in any gaps in my skills or abilities of my mechs. Alone I'm ok. But that doesnt seem to be what matchmaking sees. It throws me up against 5 star mechs with maxed out weapons and maxed legendary pilots and implants when I am running 3-4 star mechs and 4 star weapons with a mix of basic/ expert and 1 legendary pilot. It's gotten so bad I see no point to play alone.
Why is that bad? Well I spend limited amounts (~20-$30 a year) on the game. I have no interest in spending money if I can't use the tools to play a fair game alone. I also then have to have 2-3 clanmates on at the same time to have a reasonable match. I have no interest to play when I can't be sure a clanmate or 3 will be online. So where before I was much more available for matchmaking I now only play at specific times of the day. I look active but I'm probably 75% less likely to be on for a match.
2v2 has become unplayable without clanmates for me. 1 stupid AI on my side and 2 OP mechs on the other side just takes it from being worth spending my time to not wort it. As those are also one of the only way to get acoins I fall further behind. I'm not spending any more money until I see a significant improvement. It feels like I need to move on. The game is in a strange place between server based Multiplayer online games like the Battlefield series and a standalone game. If it's going to be a standalone game because all I see are AI then I will move to that one time cost game that I can not deal with random nerfs. If it's and MMO then maybe it's time to have dedicated "servers" type things where you know its got players and the game is between whoever is there divided evenly. AI for me has stopped working.
Couple that with the much more stingy payout of acoins, increased real dollar cost of mechs, weapons and nerf I'm looking to move on.
