Fan Fiction Story Contest: Battle against the Iron Twins

i

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at writing fiction? If so, the new contest is for you! Create a story that involves a battle against the Iron Twins, be it a standoff between the Twins and a group of Champions or even a clash between the fearsome metal golem and another Boss. Describe the story from the perspective of the Twins or its adversaries; it does not matter. What does matter - the description of the fight should be gripping.

The battle should be the core of the text. However, for better immersion, feel free to include further details, like:

  1. What is the lead-up to the fight?
  2. What are the reasons for the fight to happen?
  3. What purposes do both sides pursue in the fight?
  4. What is their motivation, and what makes them so determined?

We will choose 7 best stories whose authors will receive 1000 gems each. Please be ready to respond to a moderator or a community manager who might reach out to you for your in-game ID in case your story is among the winning ones. We cannot send you the reward unless we have your in-game ID.

Later we will post the best stories in a distinct folder in the fan-fiction section of this Forum.

To qualify for participation in the contest, your story should be posted in the comments section under this post until 28 of October, 2:00 PM UTC, and abide by the following rules:

  1. Language: English, Ukrainian, Russian;
  2. No more than 3000 characters, including spaces;
  3. Please keep it safe for work;
  4. Texts or their discussions cannot contain any insults, personal attacks, discrimination, references to real-world politics or religion. Please, keep it civil;
  5. You can submit multiple stories, but one user can get the prize only once;
  6. Please be kind to others' stories. Competition is all cool, but it is always a good idea to encourage your fellow writer with supportive words if you genuinely enjoy their story;
  7. The fan fiction stories you submit will not be considered a part of canonical lore unless otherwise specified by a representative of the company.

Posts with discussions unrelated to the fan fiction stories contest are subject to removal without prior warning.

The impassive burial mask of the Tomb Lord revealed no emotion, but his bronzed, armoured form was visibly torn and damaged. The foe that towered before him was unlike any he had faced before. A clattering golem, 30 feet tall, given shape by plating and cogs. The golems' unusual form was split at the waist, sprouting two distinct torsos’, each wielding different weapons. Once again, it reared up, twisted, and spun like a tornado towards him, spewing fire. Had it not been for Roshcard the Tower, the ever-armoured paladin of the Bannerlords, the blows would've all but disintegrated him. The golems' bladed arms slammed down on them both, but Roshcard’s magical golden barrier took the brunt of it.

Before they could recover, a strange mechanical whining emitted from the golem's faceplate which began to glow viciously. Suddenly, a beam of fire streamed out towards them, igniting the air with hissing steam, but struck nothing but the surrounding chamber walls. The Tomb Lord scrambled to get up, noticing that both him and Roshcard had been rendered invisible by a familiar energy. The golem clacked and whirred in apparent confusion. The round head perched on the second torso turned, spotting a lithe, wicked figure hovering above it at a distance. It was the Duchess, Lilitu, the demonic sorceress who had led the party here in the first place. Commanding the fabric of the void itself, she had twisted her hands in strange motions, whispering eldritch incantations of protection to veil her companions. Granted much-needed respite, they withdrew to recover. The golem let out a deafening screech, seemingly enraged, and cut a ruinous swath toward the Duchess. The blades stopped just short of her, straining against an invisible barrier. Lilitu slashed with her crystaline staff, and a flash of thunder struck the golem. Despite her efforts, the blasts only served to distract it. She drifted backwards with the furious golem in tow, luring it away by unleashing bolt after bolt of crackling lightning toward it.

Observing the battle from a distance, the mysterious Geomancer, a crazy-eyed dwarf, staff in hand, was muttering in an incomprehensible tongue. It was finally time to quell the threat of the Iron Twins. The Geomancer had watched as the creation that was meant to guard his people had laid waste to their fortress, and watched how it used their souls to fuel more carnage. No longer! Raising his staff, he completed his final spell over the golem. A spell of redirection. He chuckled to himself.

Lilitu disengaged from the Iron Twins, her energies spent, and flew quickly to a height outside its reach. Perched like that in the air, she was able to survey the situation. Her veil had flickered and died, revealing Roshcard and the Tomb Lord to the golem. It was approaching them fast. Lilitu had come here to harvest soul essence, the fuel that gave the golem life, and accompanied by her party, she had thought it a simple matter. The golem had proved a mighty match, but the battle was far from over. Lilitu swooped down, stopping between the automaton and its targets. She could shield them, but only for a moment. Looking to her far left, she saw the Geomancer skulking in the shadows. He was grinning. Lilitu understood - a moment would be just enough!

The beam glowed red-hot as it poured out from the golem’s eye. Fire flooded over them, scorching their armour and their flesh. They howled in unison, but then, a massive explosion echoed out. Their enemy collapsed, debris flinging through the air, gears clattering over the floor of the chamber. A roaring fireball emerged from its eye, and with a final, deafening metallic screech, it crumbled to pieces. Just as Lilitu had predicted, the Geomancer had done his work. She smirked, dazed, as she started the healing incantations.

Victory!

Reward:

8,800 silver. 135 mortal soul coins.

Replay?

It’s a little longer than 3,000 characters, but hopefully that’s ok. It was fun writing this - hope you enjoyed it! 😁

The Story of THE IRON TWINS & ITS FORTRESS

As a Martyr, I never thought of having such to burden a Gigantic Mechanical Monster. It was just all stories & I can never fathom such Horrifying enemy but unfortunately it’s all true. Cold Heart said the Iron Twins rests in the Iron Fortress to the West. She said the Fortress Launches devastating Missiles to nearby Towns. Some Pike men reported that their Village was annihilated with one Explosion of a Missile. Arch-angel Cardiel said we should strike soon before any more gets hurt by the Iron Twin’s reckless assault on innocent Villages & Towns.

We seek help from our allies from Banner Lords. They sent out 6 Knight-Errants to scout the Iron Twin Fortress. Meanwhile, Arch-angel Cardiel is preparing an Army of Templars to march into the Fortress itself and Destroy the Gigantic Iron Twins.

The Knight-Errant Scouts just reported that the Iron Twins is going to launch another Mass-destructive Missile on a nearby Village, so Arch-angel Cardiel picked the best of the best to end the Tyranny of the Iron Twins. Me(Martyr Tristtæ), Cardiel, Gliseah, Sir Nicholas, & an army of Templars set out to the West to destroy the Iron Twins & its Fortress. It was strangely empty at first but when we entered the Circular Room, it was there, the IRON TWINS!!! Cardiel took the first turn & casted his Angelic Song. After that I casted my Faith Spell & increase the Focus & Defense of my comrades but the Iron Twins also have some tricks up its sleeves! So Sir Nicholas made certain that we will have no Casualties & casted his Protective abilities upon all of us-his Allies. The Templars did their best & manage to severe the mechanics of the Iron Twins. It took awhile but we manage to destroy the Iron twins with our team work!

Thank godness we made it out alive & I was surprised that we have no deaths because I swear, the rumors of this Mechanical Monster is beyond what I saw at this fight.

 The loss of
immortality

The fortress seemed bigger than usual. The scent of burning metal, grinding gears mixed with
the cold sweat running down his spine. The young Paragon had encountered and
mastered this adventure hundreds of times, with never ceasing bravery. But this
one – he felt – this encounter somehow felt different than all of his other
endeavours.

When the giant machination of rattling scraps towered in front of him once more, there
was something different than usual. Fear. The Iron Twins seemed different than
usual, but he could not quite figure it out. So he got to work.

Slowly grinding down the monster’s defenses, one power draining stab at a time, while
he suffered giant wounds and torment by the giant blades and burning irons. But
this was nothing out of the ordinary, as the young Paragon knew he could
endure, now matter how much the attacks hurt. And so he kept going, for hours
and hours, staying alive, hitting, staying alive, hitting… all while the pain
and suffering by the ironbrand was almost unbearable, but always not quite.

After hours of battle, the boss changed its attacking pattern, as it usually does. The
paragon prepared for barrages of the monster’s hidden technique “Doomsday
Machine”, which he was sure he could endure, as he normally could. And he did.
The fear began to disappear as he thought the fight would go down like all the
others now. The warming feeling of routine spread through his body. And even
though he was still enduring the torture of the giant robot, he could not help
but let out a short confident laugh.

And then it happened. During the most harmless attack, while enduring the assault of
voltaic pendulums, a sharp pain ran through his body. The Paragon was shocked
and quickly lost his stance.

How could this be? Just recently he could endure every single attack, and now he would
fall to the weakest one. As he fell on his knees, in his last moments, he
looked up to the deadly machine. And there it was. He was able to make out a
small adjustment on top of the twins’ head, alongside a well-known symbol. The
symbol of a well-known evil sorcerer.

“How could he have been so careless? Just to look for some red gems that allegedly strengthen
the soul? Why do I have to die just in pursuit of power? How did I not notice
the changes made to the robot?”

And so, the paragon met his demise. Because Unkillable was no more.

the twins had enough of guarding a tower, fighting people whom they did not want to fight was all they did. A fine day they decided to quit and go on an adventure. Little did they know that the tower which they left unguarded for 1 day had many eyes on it. The next day when they arrieved they were shocked to find everything misssing from their tower. They started arguing on whos idea it was to go adventuring. When the Arbiter came to know that the tower which was guarded by the twins was looted by the siroth, she cursed them so that they turn into metal monsters and share the same body. From then on the twins have been looking for prince kymar, duchess lilitu and hepharaak who were responsible for the break in. if they managed to hunt them down they will get restored to their old selves and be relieved of all their duties

The iron twins and the soul chasers

At least few miles left, we have to take the mountain path across dawn hills,

Don’t want unexpected attention of bothering irethian folks.

We are near to behold the true behind the sky peak rumors, the power and promise of awake our souls it’s the dream of us the revenants, and the emotion of a great enemy it’s just so exciting to avoid.

with the decision made in a council at the great city of Narbuk, five of the finest where chosen.

Teodor: the whispers tells about a great mechanical enemy

Hegemon: for us there is no great enemy, we can decimate whatever lies ahead

Dreng: ( grunting Indistinctly )

Drath: get ready seems we are about to have fun ( smiles maliciously)

Kalvalax: my blade it’s ready to cut trough anyone who’s fool enough to face us

They enter the last chamber in the tower, in front of theirs soberb eyes lies the mechanical monstrosity of legend, then in an instant the thing became alive with a red and raving glow in its eye deposing the chains who constricted his arms, and prepares the glaves, in a thunderous chaos the golem hit the rector

But with a swiftness move Drath passes side the blow and cast instantly his annoying spirit form for all the team and the battle begins, Dreng in an gagged battle cry Rams the golem shacking even his tremendous size, causing him to ablaze, confused of the dimished and glassy form of the perfect veil, he took a delay second when he realized both of the enormous blades of Kalvalax and Hegemon crushing the gears folding with venom and damage of the blows, Teodor from the distant casting the foul spirits to potent even more the dense venoms, but this is not going to be that easy for them, the twins were build with powerful incantations too, the Revenants surprised and annoyed saw how the golem cleanse and blast a rampage of missiles they have little time to react, all but Dreng took quite damage but just that they need, Dreng to soak damage, he as quick as the golem did, cured the group to his level of health and the battle continued, teodor warp the speed of the golem with spirit tendrils, Drath supports and heal the team, Dreng rams burn and reflect damage against the golem, Kalvalax blow and poison every part he achieve to touch causing corrosive damage and Hegemon blow after blow crush the monster, even with the glaives, missiles, laser beams and thunderous attacks, the team manage to whistand all the arsenal and curse of ironbrand that gets heavier and heavier as time passes, and at last with a heavy hit of Hegemon and his blade the golem fell in chirrid sounds of malfunctioning system leting them pass to the power of myth, to the very legend of the soulstones.

They achieved what seems impossible, they defeat the golem of legend and confirms the rumors, and now the Revenants hold a new power… their souls awakes with new and terrifying capabilities, all Teleria will know of the impeding shadow that renews and sides with the Knights Revenants now.

I sing the tale of da brave Banner Lairds who didst go forth
ta face the unspeakable beast known only as the Iron Twins. Bright and boldly
they didst set forth. The mighty Chevalier, our Lairdly Legionary, the knight
of da Azure, the valiant Halberdier and our clever Spymaster who didst discover
the creature, who hath taken hold of a long abandoned tower.  One that was once ours. One that we wouldst
not let remain in the hands of such a creature as that.

The foe was most foul in its arrogance, letting our
champions approach with nary a care in da world. I stood back, ta chronical da
tale of this foul miscreant’s demise. Behold our Legionary didst challenge da
foe ta single combat as is right and proper but the monster laughed and
arrogantly told them all ta come together and he wouldst deal with them at once.
Honor impugned by such dishonorable arrogance our knights didst take the monster
up on this most foolish of challenges. Or so they didst think.

The Halberdier strode forth firstly, planting his shield
awaitin’ da blow to come. The Legionary bellowed his battle cry, his sword ablaze
with da fire of da righteous and charged da foe. Pausing only ta use their most
holy magics, the Azure knight and the Chevalier boosted their allies’ power
while da Spymaster crept to the side seeking a weakness in da giant.

The giant known only ta us as da Iron Twins stood arrogantly
and as our champions charged forth it then released infernal fires upon them
all, our champions cryin’ out in pain from da flames that bathed them. But our
champions were not so easily daunted. LO! The Legionary returned da fire of da
foe with da flames of his holy sword but behold! The foe was barely scratched.
Undaunted the Chevalier, mayhaps maddened by da flames which hath most sorely taxed even his healing
magics, unleashed a flurry of blows upon da foe while da Azure knight lunged at
da monster himself despite his wounds. Mayhaps I didst see a wince in the foe
as these twin attacks struck. Or twas just a hopeful illusion on mine humble
part as a drop of fear struck mine heart.

If so, our champions had no such fears. The Spymaster
darting  in and out with his dagger. Our
Halberdier, having taken a blow now cried out his own battle cry and heedless
for his own safety, hammered at the foe himself. Regrouping and assessing the
damage, our champions’ visages took a more grim appearance. Despite their
blows, the creature seemed barely harmed. With a glance earned from years of
fighting together, the unspoken tongue that all boon companions in battle shared-
which outsiders could only think of as magic, a plan was made. Undaunted they
leapt once more upon da foe.

Alas ‘twas exactly what the deceitful Iron Twins hath
desired. As our champions came forth once more bravely and boldly, the monster
made a mighty slash with its bladed hand knocking our champions ta da ground.
Save only da Halberdier who grimly drove his blade unto da very floor itself
while braced behind his shield. Struggling to his feet he returned the blow
with one of his own only to find suddenly all da protective magics around
everyone had vanished and from da monster’s back a flurry of metal projectiles came
forth which exploded everywhere. The Spymaster, most lightly armored fell, as
three of these foul projectiles struck him. Crying vengeance the Legionary
again charged da foe in fury while da Chevalier didst beg him ta wait fer da
others. Now da drop of fear on mine tremulous heart hath become a flood as rage
hath overcome reason facing such a foe as this.

The knight of the Azure seconded the Legionary and smashed
the foe with his shield in an effort ta knock the foe off his feet and even the
battlefield, thinking such armor as the Iron twins wore wouldst make it most
difficult for him to rise again if felled. The Legionary unleashed his mightiest
skill to heal his allies and protect him from the foe’s next blow. Too late for
the brave Spymaster, the Lordly Legionary felt shame at failing to suspect such
a mighty attack was held in reserve by this creature and held off too long on
this skill. Now atonement was at hand.

Emboldened by the fresh magic, the Chevalier and Halberier,
joined the attack as they saw da shield bash of the Azure knight to fail to
knock da foe back. The Chevalier called forth a blow from da heavens but to his
amazement the foe was not da slightest bit dazed by this rebuke from da heavens
as the Halberdier hacked and hewed at da enemy. Now I think da faintest of
doubts entered da hearts of these champions, though all wert da mightiest and
bravest of our clan.

The foe made no sign but our champions didst brace
themselves fer the coming blow. All were prepared fer yet another massive blow
ta smite them all as da creature hath done so before. But da massive monster
instead flung his razor edged pendulum at the knight of da Azure striking a no
doubt mortal wound upon da brave hero. The Chevalier hath barely time ta begin
ta try ta heal his stricken comrade only ta find da treacherous Iron Twins hath,
unbeknownst to the knights concerned with their comrade, continued ta swing da
pendulum around in the arc and struck a mighty blow upon all, ending the life
of da Azure knight.

The Lairdly Legionary was first to regain his feet
unsteadily as now there were only three remaining. Even his heart quailed atda
sight of his comrades battered and butchered by this seemingly unstoppable being
upon whom only minor cuts and dents in its armor could be seen from their
efforts. The Iron Twins made no move to finish off its foe, its contempt
obvious, certain it could finish them off at any time. Such contempt could only
fire the heart of da Legionary and his knightly honor wouldst not let that
stand unanswered.

As for me, I am no knight, I had edged my way towards da
exit, if only ta bring word of their failure back ta the clan. But honor
demanded, though I wouldst surely have fled if alone, I stay ta remember all
that happened in that place ta honor da memory of our champions who fell.

And alas, fall they did. Though the Legionary stood fast, da
Chevalier hath barely gotten ta his knees while da Halberier hath only pulled
himself up to his feet using his shield. Both knew their time in this fight was
nearly ended. The Legionary once more pressed his attack upon da foe hoping to
buy time fer da others ta recover from his healing magic.  It was in the end for naught. The Iron Twins,
perhaps bored of our heroes impotence before him, decided ta end the battle
with one final flurry. Shrugging off da Legionary’s blow, da Iron twins
unleashed its ultimate attack. One bards throughout da lands will whisper of
only on brightly lit days lest they terrify their audience by speakin’ of it at
night.

With its first blow a foul rune appeared on our champions,
all of whom hath been knocked ta da ground once more by da force of da blast. Even
the power of the Legionary’s ward was shattered and only weakly returned a
small part of da blow upon da enemy which it didst ignore. Then again it struck
and here the brave Chevalier’s heart could take no more and he succumbed ta his
wounds fer an eternal rest.  Now only two
remained and da Halberier and Legionary could only gaze at each other as they
lay on da ground, struggling, even then, to rise up against da enemy as true
knights must. It was then where the Iron Twins, all but glowing with power
struck its final blow and our knights were no more.

The tower itself began to crumble from da force of da blow
and despairing of da fate of our clan, I barely escaped. Running as fast as I could
I looked back to see the entire tower begin to crumble to a mound of stones, a fitting
cairn for our brave knights and mayhaps da Iron Twins themselves. Yet I should
not have been so confident, having just seen what I hath seen. As the dust
settled and da stones grew still there was a temor. As I took to the safety of
da nearby woods I stopped and turned back ta watch what I feared was ta be.

And so it was. A blade didst pierce up from da pile of
stones into the sky and slowly but surely didst da Iron Twins pull itself forth
from da rubble, scarcely showing any additional wounds from being buried. At
this mine own heart fell. Such a monster wouldst surely destroy the clan and
there was nothing to be done about it. But then the gods smiled upon us. No
doubt touched by da sacrifice of our brave champions. For behold, da monster
didst turn south, away from our village and slowly wandered off. I watched
until it vanished into da dusk before I made my return.

So now ye all know the fate of our champions. Mayhaps the
foe felt da taking of da village was not worth the effort and so went
elsewhere. Mayhaps instead it found us too weak to be of interest. In the end
what matters is that the creature no longer dwells near and our village is safe.
Wherever it may wander to next, pray to the gods that those there may be strong
enough ta put an end ta its rampage once and fer all.

The white marble stones cracked and everything ached, it was a long time since Kael had felt as much pain as he did in this moment. Still, he should have gone down just then, and with that, the memories started to flow back in. How he and the others had entered the previously forbidden place known as the Iron Fortress. He had always hated working with champions from the other factions, after all no one could match the brilliance of the Dark Elves.

Opening his eyes, he was met by the gleaming armor of his savior, and he had to smile at the irony of his previous thought. Goffred stood tall before him having shielded him from the devastating blow of the hulking monster that had faced them when they entered. On top of it all it had to be a dwarf that saved his life today, maybe he had to start appreciate the others a bit more.

As a matter of fact, even the High Elves had joined them, Lonatharil applied his shielding magic to clear the party’s other big hitter, Fayne, from harm while she applied all her brutal attacks against the Iron hulk guarding the fortress. In that moment the drive to win, pride and vengeance of his race swelled inside of him. He stood up, as marble dust flew into the air from his armor, he would be damned if he was going to be shown up by a rat!

Aniri felt the sweat coat her forehead, the Iron Twin was a worthy opponent, it was about all she could do to keep her companions standing as the various weapons kept on bombarding them. “How was Kael, had Goffred managed to save him?” At that moment she glanced as the silvery-haired elf appeared in her periphery vision, he looked angry. Her only thought was, "Good" they would need it.

Keal felt the dark magic swell in his veins, he loved the feeling of it pulsing, the power. He longed to release it all, but he knew that if he wanted to end this he had to wait for the perfect moment. Soon Fanye’s strike opened a small hole in the giant monster’s defense. He roared out the most powerful spell he knew, all the rage, the hurt, the pride and, the power he held released.

Everything turned black but Goffred stayed calm, he had faced the man-elf before but this time they were on the same side as Kael’s deep voice filled the tower, “DISINTEGRATE!”.

Fayne felt the ground shake as the pieces of the now dead iron man just lay there. She looked at the others but did not give them much thought and instead started to look for the prize of their kill. After all they had to come back again tomorrow to do it all over again…

"As I walked up to the Iron Twins Fortress, I took out my contract for the elimination of this terror....And realized there was a section of fine print at the bottom: Rewards doubled on Sundays....Crap it's Tuesday"

After many attempts to conquer the doomed tower, Arbeiter and her team finally defeated the evil forces that longed to cast their dark magic over Teleria. As the mighty Sorath fell, the champions were able to bask in their glory and sweep the treasures around them. Through a gleaming light that struck a pillar, the warrior Kael noticed writing engraved around it. He called the rest of his team, Galek, Elhain, Athel, and of course their fearless leader Arbeiter to the writings to help decipher what it said. Written on the wall was a prophecy that said, “guarded by the 4 monsters of Teleria lies the keys of a fierce warrior that will bring peace once and for all.” The team looked at each other confused. Galek spoke out and said, “we have swept the Fireknights Castle, the Dragon's Cave, the Spiders Den, and the Ice Golems Peak several times of any treasure worth taking.” Elhain mumbled that there must be a secret room hidden within. The brave champions took a night to regain their strength after the conquest of the doomed tower and planned to head to the 4 demons' lairs at sunrise. The first conquest was the ruins of the dragon's cave. Although the dragon has been slain, its faithful minions still guarded their home. Wave after wave the brave champions took them out. Once they made it to the resting place of the, now skeleton, dragon they realized a secret door that lies beneath. Galek swung his mighty axe to golf the bones away. Opening up the door the champions dropped down one by one. Arbeiter led the way using her holy magic to give sight for the rest of the group. All that was down there was what appeared to be a quarter piece of a robotic machine. Athel was convinced this had to be one of the keys the inscription of the doom tower prophesied about. Galek strapped the piece to his back and carried it back to their castle. Week after week the champions headed to the 4 corners of Teleria to fight their way to the ruins of the monsters that once ruled the land. The champions noticed the same secret door in each of the lairs they revisited. Once they had what they suspected to be all 4 keys to the savior of Teleria, Arbeiter used her magical ability - destiny's call - to unlock the robots powers. Red smoke started emerging and the robot eyee glowed with hatred and vengeance. The dark witch, Rian the conjurer, emerged from the shadows and in a screeching laugh she yelled, “you foolish delvers fell right into my trap.” “RIAN!” Arbeiter yelled, “what is this!” Rian explained how she intentionally changed the inscription in her tower to make it seem like this robotic warrior was going to bring peace. However, it is the very thing that will destroy Teleria. Rian laughs and tells the champions, “you have finally awoken my precious babies, The IRON TWINS! Rian used her dark magic to turn the champions into a darker version that Arbeiter could barely recognize. After fleeing for her life, Arbeiter sought to build a team to purify her team and save Teleria.

The battle for his soul

It all started when the leading organization, named Plarium, started recruiting heroes to slay a new foe in the outlands, the iron twins they were called, I saw the contract a couple days ago and decided to march there and see what all the fuss was about, turns out, I made a mistake..

hey! hi! Hello! how are you guys, my name is Deathknight, dk for short, and he’s my story and how I made a really big mistake, it all started when I saw the poster a couple days ago while a drinking in a tavern with my buddy mr. Squiggles, he’s small but awesome, I was drinking my usual gallon of ale when I saw the poster hidden in the shadows and checked it out, I walked up to it and saw it was about some new foe in the outlands, the reward, 1000 ruby’s, oh boy, I said to myself, I could really use those but enough about that, that’s all the past, let’s skip to the present.

I was walking up to the fortress, it looked to be made completely out of iron, doors the size of mountains, “inventory check dk”, shouted kael, my best buddy, he’s so cool.  I got my ax, and I got my helm, I said to myself while tapping my skull, making sure it was still there, kael walked up to me, “best of luck In there man, I hope you find your soul”.

with best wishes imparted, I opened the little door meant for humans, and walked into the great hall, and there he stood, the iron twin’s giant, without a word of warning one of they’re axes sliced right down at me, not even giving me a chance, I jumped to the side, and they missed me by inches, the air sliced right where I was standing, I knew I didn’t have a single hope of defeating this monstrosity, I hid behind a pillar, I have a single chance, I can’t sustain a long fight, so I have to beat him in a single blow, I was scared honestly, that I couldn’t beat this dude, he’s even stronger then the demon king, his axe came down again, right next to me, and I, in dk fashion, did something crazy, I started running up his arm, my armor clanking and rattling, my axe trailing behind me, just as I was at his shoulder, he turned one of his heads towards me, his eyes started glowing… and that’s the last thing I remember….

To be continued..

idk if this was too long, i wanted to do something longer but i was worried i was gonna run out of space lol, best of wishes to everyone and i hope you guys win.

In The Shadow Of The Twins

A tower looms in the distance. Barely visible through the sunset painted fog. Tales of a mechanical monster have spread throughout the land of Teleria and Arbiter has requested aid to destroy whatever terrible abomination rests within. The dwarves answer the call.

The legendary Mountain King leads his squad into the fortress. The tower is dark, so Acrizia sparks her sword to give light as they move to activate the strange lift machine. Geomancer and Keeyra are the last to step onto the platform as it ascends. Heavy chains clang and twist around gears as they rise. Steam explodes from pistons churning the platform upward. Suddenly the lift stops as large doors open wide and a towering metal colossus steps forth from the blackness. Its bronze-colored body decorated with detailed design is soon a blur as the twins begin to spin as they start to ascend again. The dwarves spread out ready to face the attack. Of all the horrors they have faced in Teliaria they have never seen anything like this.

Mountain King signals a dash towards the golem. They bash and slash, but the steel is much too hard for their weapons. The twins rotate unleashing blades and flames upon the tiny warriors. Geomancer summons his own hellfire from within. Instantly the twins are engulfed in flame and char. Keeyra leaps forward but is met with a barrage of rockets. Her shield taking the brunt of the force as she is knocked to the ground. Acrizia notices the steel is beginning to soften as Geo’s burn rages on. She strikes the golem hard, and slices open the tree trunk sized leg revealing gears churning inside, powering the massive machine. As the twins stumble and the dwarves regroup, they see a red glow from within one of the heads. The twins spin up furiously as dust from the still rising lift begins to vibrate and levitate from the metal floor. Suddenly a beam of light shoots out from the head and sweeps across the room. The dwarves duck the beam, but in the chaos of that moment, Mountain King wasn’t so lucky. The laser sliced through his body with ease. Fueled with rage and disbelief, the remaining dwarves attack the golem with all their might. Geo unleashes a burn like never before as he sends a shock wave of magic across the room. The others continue to destroy the twins’ legs. Gears and pistons begin to explode from within and the twins’ stumble. Again, the strange glow powers up from the head and just then Acrizia leaps up with her flaming sword and slices off the glowing head. Keeyra catches it and directs the beam towards the second head. The beam shoots out with such force it blows through the golems head and the iron wall behind it. The golem falls to the ground as it continues to smolder as the lift grinds to a halt.

The Dwarves have won but at a major cost. As they leave the tower they hear from deep within the bowels, a sound of sparks fusing metal together as a red glow emerges from those desecrated halls.

It is a tale of unforeseen cataclysm. The veil over the forbidden void tower was finally lifted as the champions of Telleria marched forth to conquer this new land. The tip came from an anonymous being, who traded souls for power.

"Bring me the soul coins from the tower west on the farthest region of Telleria, and you shall be bestowed by power never seen before. blessings from the divine beings themselves." The being had announced in the night.

Our champions were naive, thinking this would be like the layer of the Dragon or the castle of the Fire Knight. Or god forbid, the almighty doom tower, which taunted them in the distance, the screams of their fallen comrades now silent. Nevertheless, they sought the help of the most powerful, the most valiant champions.

After all, stepping into unknown territory was an all too familiar feeling, one, the Arbiter had warned, to not take lightly. Legends spoke of a mechanical whirr, which echoed through the valleys, terrorizing the lands to abandonment.

As they approached the tower, its crystal glared down at them. Mithrala, the wisest of them all looked back at her team. Brogni sat heftily, Aniri had a grim look on her face. Tomb Lords' silence and Geomancer's gaze meant only one thing. This was not going to be easy. All they had to guide them were the fallen bodies of their compatriots. The smell of burnt air, metallic dust, and sparks stung the champions through their armor.

"In my years of exissstance," Mithrala hissed calmly, "I can only tell you, not all of usss will make it out alive. Are you prepared to lay down your lives, to serve the Arbiter, to serve Telleria?"

Muffled grunts and a half-hearted cheer were all that the group had to offer. Aniri began her enchantments, her elixirs of life. Brogni steadied his shield and Geomancer looked worse for the wear, after all, he had just come back from numerous expeditions, without rest. Tomb lord stood mysterious as if accepting his fate. Everyone knew their task. To protect what they could, or die trying.

When they approached the tower, the ground shook. The metallic gates descended slowly, the gears ringing "boom, boom, boom" with each snap. Warm air rushed out, waking everyone up. The whole valley fell silent. Nothing moved, nothing made a sound. Steadying their breath, they walked through the gates. Technology littered the floor along with the remains of once brave warriors.

"Everyone ready?" Brogni asked. As the priest, he prayed to the gods for their protection before stopping before a column of spiraling stairs. "Stairs... Why do there have to be stairs? I'm old and fat and- ugh, let's just go."

Aniri chuckled and pat the old dwarf's back. "Come on. I got your back." Everyone nodded in agreement. "We all do."

As they approached the first gate, a message carved in tellurian was embossed within the architecture. "The guardian protects the souls of the fallen. To free them, you must slow them down. Time your skills. Do not rush into the fight, or fire from heaven will reign. Be firm, be quick. The Twins do not leave survivors. They are heavily guarded, and incredibly focused and with each hit, they become stronger. Resistance is futile, once you step through these doors, either you make it out alive, or you don't. To whoever is reading this, these are my last words. Perhaps you will find my soul someday."

"Well isn't that encouraging?  It's like someone just took the best qualities of every other boss and decided to make a hybrid Christmas cookie." Geomancer said. "It's like... I was made for this."

"Alright, Lancelot." Brogni chided. "Dont get all worked up now."

For a moment, Geomancer almost smiled. "Let's go get this son of a-"

Mithrala cleared her throat. (Well, do her snakes' count as multiple throats?) "Together we fight. Together we fall. One way to eternity, once and for all." This time the cheer was louder.

The champions made their way through the first-floor gates. Waiting for them was a towering monstrosity. Its eyes were empty, yet gazing into their souls. That's when the room buzzed to life, gears spun, and chains swung from the ceiling as the robot got up, its massive blades and chains sparking against itself. Its roar silenced the heartbeats of everyone.

"Alright, everyone. Positions!" Mithrala ordered. "Tomb lord, Go!"

The bronze hero charged, aiming for the legs. The first strike hit. The second scrapped off, and the third never made a dent. "What the-"

The giant shoved the decedent champion back into rank. "Multiple hits are ineffective" Aniri noted. All eyes turned to Brogni. "You better hope your time with the minotaur doesn't get us killed. Or I swear to god I will beat your stubby legs and let Cardiel experiment on you."

"So much for having my back." The dwarf grumbled and slammed his shield down, effectively protecting the team from a supposed attack. But the twins did nothing. Mithrala charmed a hex onto the boss and nodded to Geomancer to do his thing.

"We should probably come up with move names." He said as he focused his flaming staff and set the metallic giant on fire. Mine should be something cool like "Quicksand Grasp"

"Hey! Enough talking" Aniri scolded and topped everyone's health, making sure the shield stayed on longer. That's when the boss moved. Everyone braced for impact as the blades sliced through the shields as if made of butter. Brogni did his best to reflect the damage back and geomancers magic seemed to affect the boss drastically, but it did not come without cost. Where the boss had struck, now a powerful burn embedded itself upon the champions.

"Poison?" Brogni asked. Mithrala shook her head. "This is different. Iron brands are worse."

"Did she just say... "iron brands" what are we... cattle?" Aniri asked, trying to dust off the mark from her shield but it didn't budge.

"If we don't finish this fast, we might as well be," Geomancer said. That's when the burn on the boss faded. Everyone looked at it in shock, amazed at what had happened. The twins latched themselves onto the ground and from their backs, missiles rained. "Everyone take cover!"

They tried... Something didn't feel right. They had to finish this one off before he became too hard to handle. Tomb lord had taken a beating. He wasn't sure how long he was going to last. Unsure of what was going to happen, they steadied themselves again. They couldn't rush in again like they did before. And their abilities needed time to be effective once again. "I hate cooldowns.." Tomb lord grumbled in pain.

Everyone looked at him. Knight Revenants were known for their silence.

"As shocking as it is to hear me, I AM a normal human underneath this armour." He said. "Duck!"

They rolled away and surrounded the boss, trying to take him on from all angles. But he had no blind spot. He had two sets of bodies attached to one torso. "We go on him, together." Mithrala ordered. "Now!"

Dust and metal creaked as the fight progressed. Tomb lords helmet lay cracked. Geomancers staff was broken. Brogni couldnt move. Aniri had a spike through her arm. The boss still had a massive pool of power left.

"Geo, do u have your burns ready?" Mithrala asked.

He nodded weakly. "I need to live through a couple of hits to beat him.. but this may or may not be as fun as i would have hoped it to be."

"Brogni. Get up. We need your sssshields. Tomb lord, unload your poisonssss. Aniri? Give them hell." Mithrala gave a warlike smirk. Her eyes turned white as she gave her last cleanse to the team. A temporary shield. My abilities should protect you through whats coming. I might not make it. My warriors, I am proud to have fought alongsssside you."

The team rallied for one last push. Every ability they knew was used up. dwindling on health and energy, they gave their final stand. "It's all on you Geo... You got this." Aniri assured him. The burn landed and hope was renewed. But the twins weren't done. Something changed. The room suddenly felt hotter. More... angry.

"Armour up!" Mithrala squeezed a hex out and Brogni landed his last shield. The twins charged. surprisingly quick for something so big. Lasers shot from their eyes, aimed directly at the iron brands. The whole ground erupted in flames as the blades ran through them again. Geomancer roared in defiance and the smoke filled the room. Tomb lord was knocked back, where he landed on a fallen soldier's blade, incapacitated. Aniri lay clinging to her shattered arm. Mithrala was dazed and brogni exhausted. Geomancer stood unconscious. His hair was caked with crumbling embers.

The sound of whirring came to a close as the sunlight finally streamed in through the windows. Mithrala looked around. "Did we win?"

The iron twins lay burning in pieces. Aniri walked over and poked the body. "At this point I'm too tired to even consider rejoicing but I'm going to say yes. Lets just get as many souls as we can carry and get these two geniuses back to rehab. Sethallia, Apothecary and Minaya should be able to fix them soon enough."

Brogni coughed and sat down. "I dont want to walk anymore... I want some beer. Tell Shamrock to open up the barrels."

"Alright, buddy. Up you go." Mithrala hoisted the old dwarf up and they picked up their injured comrades to the campsite, souls in hand. Along with mysterious coins.  They had managed to do what no one could in ages.

Back in the void tower, over the catwalks, a dark figure tapped his fingers menacingly. "For now warriors. Rejoice in your victory. We shall meet again very soon..."

The tower stood locked for as long as anyone could remember. The sounds that emanated from its halls were nothing less than terrifying. Scraping metal. Explosions. Electrical Crackling. And the screams. Something was being built and the cost was high.

Then everything changed. The doors opened. Nothing came out. The screaming and explosions stopped.

Belanor had been sent on a reconnaissance mission days ago. After using Insurmountable outside the tower, he had snuck in. He hadn’t moved a muscle in over a day. The monstrosity he was staring at hadn’t either. It had two heads, weapons everywhere, and even though it was not alive it “breathed”. Mechanical undulations moved the metal beast up and down in a battle stance that never ended and seemed to be ready on all sides. The only thing he could think about was long long he could wait, or if even a bug would come by to be able to use Insurmountable again to veil up and get away from this metallic amalgamation.

Just as thoughts of starving to death started to surface, there were voices from the door. It was dwarven voices. They seemed to not have a care in the world.

“Maulie. Did you bring us ANY ale or did ya think to thirst us to death?”

“Hurndig you will get yer ale when we report back ya lout.”

There were 5 of them. Maulie, Hurndig, Kurzad, Avir, and the Geomancer. The minute they entered the tower the beast sprang to life. Its arm shot out on a chain and almost smashed Maulie to bits. At the same moment the floor began to spring upwards.

Belanor moved for the first time when the floor moved him. He had faced many beasts and the undying dragon. Never had he felt fear like this. The Geomancer began to utter words forgeign to his ears and flames shot out from under the plates of armor on the monster. Just then it rotated on itself and the hump in the back of it revealed itself to be another head. It shot missiles from everywhere. They exploded on impact with such shuddering forces that the windows, which were disappearing under the floor as it rose, shattered three floors up.

This was his chance. He wanted to stay to help, but he had a job. The Arbiter must know about this. He shot off his Insurmountable skill and bolted for the window. He dove for the breach just as it was about to guillotine him, but the tower only claimed a small piece of his coat. As he fell he was amazed how high they had gotten so quickly. If he were any other elf, this height would be death. He splayed his wings and glided to the ground as far he could get from that unusual hell. He was running before he ever touched down.

For a brief moment he lamented if he would ever see those dwarves again. But then he realized this was greater than dwarves and elves. This would take all of Teleria. First it had to be beaten. Then its creators would need to be discovered….
