I have spent a coin or three (lol) on this game.
I did not complain when the items in league chests were reduced. I did not complain when the items in "huge development paks" were reduced.
However: The reduction in emerald rewards for champion improvement is a step too far, as it removes the major way that a non-coiner or small coiner could gain some strategic balance with the big boy coiners, by putting in major time and effort.
Are there many players willing to add another $49-99 per month to their current spending? I don't think so. I do not know how many will be convinced by this change to leave the game, or play less often, vs accepting underdog status; but I do think we are nearing the loss of a critical mass needed to keep the game interesting. This change, if not reversed soon, may push things over the edge.
Changing the emerald award amount on the Champion upgrades was a HORRIBLE thing to do . I wonder at times if Plarium does analysis of the mechanics of this game & the effects of changes that they make .. In this instance obviously not ..
Sure non-coiners & non-coiner leagues could spend the 10s & hundreds of hours upgrading Champs giving them a better advantage in fighting & defending .I say yes indeed, this has been a part of the game that Non & Low Coining players could get lots of satisfaction & reward from. More than half of my league are non or low coiners. Its a great way to catch up with coiners .
BUT for the medium coiners and the Mega Coiners the Champions have also been a huge part of the game. As it has been, to get a level 5 Orange Champ there is only about a 1 in 10 chance of getting one of those out of a $100 Holy summoning bond package. To get the Champ that they actually want, make that a 1 in 14 chance out of the orange champs received , To fully enlighten one of these one needs 5 more of the same . The money involved in Champs is Huge .... Once a Coiner actually gets one them, they need to be upgraded . I have known Mega coiners to spend entire weekends upgrading an expensive Champ that they have bought to stay competitive . With the new 'rewards' system , this will force coiners to buy straight Emeralds from bank AFTER they have bought all of the packages available to them, this just to continue to upgrade these champs that they have spent so much money on to get in the first place . By giving a somewhat reasonable reward for upgrading Champs ,it gave a slight incentive to continue buying scrolls & upgrading champs .
Mega Coiners who are spending thousands of $s or Euros per month on game are generally rich people. They generally did not get rich from being stupid . They do not like being ripped off . They are not going to be spending another several hundred or several thousands of dollars/Euros to buy straight Emeralds to upgrade Champs on top of the huge amounts that they already spend.
I urge Plarium to do the math and actually see how much money and time it took in the 'old ' way to get & upgrade good Champs. I urge Plarium to do the math and see how impossible the 'new' system makes it to upgrade Champions for non coiners . This 'new' system pleases no one. It will make non/low coiners lose interest in the game, thinking they are being forced to spend large amounts of money . It will chase the Mega coiners from the game for the insult that it gives them in trying to force them into spend truly ridiculous amounts of money .Thinking that they won't notice that they are being ripped off is not a good idea . They will notice .
Plarium please do the math & change the Champion upgrade reward back to what it was .
Please Change the Champs back to the way they were, so many players got back into the game, Coiners and Non Coiners came out of the wood work became active again, many of them started to chat again and it gave players something to work hard at to get the rewards or get a random Grade 3 or 4 Champ after spending hours or a day clicking and working their champs for the rewards. You should see how EXCITED a players gets when they get a Better Champ from Earning the Rewards. We are all just now getting into a pattern for upgrading and preparing for the Tower and the Rewards was a Big part of this, now there is no point and a waste of time, most of us will stop using the champs and the Tower event will be a dead end when players stop clicking and upgrading champs.

There is no problem in changing a reward system but my suggestion is to refund players who safed up high rank champions to be levelled up for their big hit. Such players, like me, lost several thousand emeralds over night, due to your update!
I think of it as very important to actually recognise and compensate such players for their losses.
Actually I used to spend quite a good penny each month but right now I’m in protest. I stopped playing since, even though I like the game. Got plenty of time suddenly and the money gets spend somewhere else. Plarium, 6 years I play daily and invested in you. If you don’t act soon then I might enjoy drinking my morning coffee and all my little spare time coffees with somebody else.
Yep, I have to say this situation is pretty appalling. This is my first time posting in this forum as I usually find it to be so shockingly negative, I don't spend much time reading anything here let alone posting (it WOULD be nice to come here just to learn about the game, but I find the high degree of negativity and out and out rudeness a huge turn off).
But now I can see why many people on here are so outspoken against Plarium. I find that I can't stay silent here either. This was a huge and greedy nerf, to say the least.
My two cents:
1. Please return the champ upgrade rewards to the former values, or at least consider significantly reducing this nerf.
2. Gems are desperately needed to continue upgrading champs (paying for energy boosts) which are of course designed to take significant time to actually get anywhere with in the first place. They are also needed for the tower event since the last few unlocks are sooo expensive.
2. Before, it was actually possible to make an effort to grind out champions and be able to gradually accumulate gems for these purposes (i.e. one was actually rewarded in proportion to their effort). Now that is not the case.
3. Champs were the one part of the game where spending money didn't provide as much of a huge advantage. The playing field among all players willing to make the effort was relatively equal. To give an example, I am a relatively low impact player myself, but even I was able to rank highly in the champ tournaments by just putting in the work. I could also contribute to my league fairly equally with other league mates by having enough gems to have a footing in the tower events. Now all of this will probably no longer be the case, which certainly kills any personal satisfaction involved in 1-4 hour chunks of endless clicking!
4. If you don't want to kill your game, then throw people a bone! This game is already hugely pay to win as it is and dominated by coiners, which is a shame because the game does have some fundamentally good/interesting aspects. Consider making some part of the game actually skill/effort based, and not just based on time available to play and wallet size. Like...maybe the champs, for instance?
5. Every game ends up juggling a balance between the big shots and noobs. The biggest players want something new and the noobs/more casual players just need somewhere to start and/or be relevant. Can you guess which group gets more attention here? If you have any concern at all for long term viability, then I suggest doing something to close up this disparity a bit (e.g. i don't think Spirit Wardens are helping).
6. I think most people are largely frustrated by the continual addition of yet more levels to reach and more skills to max....please don't let the game turn into something this uninteresting. Stoneheart was a fail imo, champs WERE at least somewhat engaging and had a point to them.
7. I WAS pleased that league chests got a boost and therefore were something to be generally happy about, but this rather sours it a bit. One step forward, one huge step back.
8. And maybe I'm just missing some patch notes somewhere, but it WOULD be nice to get some warning before changes like this go into effect.
Thank you for your consideration.
Hello, Lords and Ladies!
I understand your frustration about this change.
I already gathered all feedback you posted on Forum and in FB Group and forwarded it to devs.
I hope they will reconsider their decision on upgrade reward rebalance, but I can't give any guarantee for it.
If anything changes, we will let you know. Follow the in-game news!
