Scout Defense

What is the best weapon for scout defense when defending against espionage between the Serrated Blade and Sigurd's Sword, The serrated Blade has 8% more health than Sigurd's Sword but 4% less Defense, and Sigurd's Sword has an extra 8% offense over the serrated Blade. I know that Health is the most important aspect followed by Defense and lastly offense so it's a hard one to call.

The formula used for determining your troop power is square root (attack * defense * health) The system determines that above all else and who has a lower score loses the battle and 80 percent of what he threw on the table. Attack HP and defense mater separately after that is determined to calculate how much the winner loses.

So yea for defending you should go with defense and more health to lose less, that is if you win. However me personally would look at having as much of all stats as possible in any given situation so I'd go with the sword it gives me more of total like attack and defense than the serrated blade who would give me just more health at a greater cost of attack and defense. Its a minor thing tho won't make much of a difference anyhow.

So what you are saying is that the total stats determines the victor, Serrated Blade total stats 60% Square root 7.75 Sigurd's Sword total stats 64% Square root 8. Have I understood you correctly.

almost... the most important of what he say is "its a minor thing"


at low level, gear is important, each % count but at more high level, it is research who do the trick...


the attack/health/defense when all is count together can be huge... in the 500% in my case... so, a few % difference on gear don't change a lot the outcome...


as you can see below, a few spy with the right research can exterminate million of not well train spy... the few % in gear will not have change the outcome a lot, if at all...

Impressive I have a long way to go before I reach that kind of level I'm only at palace 23 with hero level 52 I only have one piece of Armour at the moment the Jarl's  helmet for food production, I only want legendary equipment so it will be some time before I have Lynx, Saracen and Sigurd Armour's but the wait will be worth it I think.

I think it is a mistake to wait for legendary equipment for items that influence knowledge or construction times.  Even rare or epic Victor's Bracelet or Falcon Figure will save you a lot of game time and that is a precious commodity.  It is more important to get the first 20-30% off times than wait for weeks/months waiting to complete legendary equipment that give you only another 5-10%.  This is assuming you are not buying a lot material with coffers thru the Item store.

I have a lot of 35% building and knowledge boosts that I use for big upgrades and a lot of 15 day and 7 days boosts that I use once i receive about 20 clan helps I also do the upgrades on the day that you get an extra 20% off the time 10% for a kvk or kvkr revenge win and 10% for the the knowledge of building speed bonus for that day and have bastion of the beast activated too. on a side note I am very very close to getting the  falcon figurine and victors bracelet.

i think that it is a waste to make epic armor, specialy these with usual material like Victor's bracelet or Falcon figurine...


Buy some clan task refresher in clan store, or with gold from event... once you have a bunch of them ( at least 50 ) ... buy the 25% extra experience for hero and shaman and make them roll... 2 epic task or a legendary task in a refresher will give you back 10000 pts in clan store, enough for buy a new clan task refresher... you will build up exp, receive ressource and from time to time material... easy way for have material for victor bravelet and falcon figurine


reason why i think that epic is a waste is because when you destroy the armor piece later, you only retrieve 1 of the material, the other are wasted


Now, gem are a other story... best to put 4 epic on 4 armor piece that 1 legendary on 1 armor piece... later, you can remove them with knife and improve them


Unfortunaly, gem for construction and research can only be found on some uber invader... none of the usual invader from lvl 1 to lvl 6 drop them


As material, if you have some hero energy, spare it for next week... it is invader hunt event for a week, mean a new invader each day... the next week end it is centurion and barbarian who are very rare... best to hit lvl 5 that lvl 6... max mat for lvl 5 is epic and max mat for lvl 6 is legendary... but a critical hit on lvl 5 give you legendary material... same reward that lvl 6 but for less energy

well, i am only lvl 25, so you are not so far...


as combat armor, i have skip lynx and saracen... stronghold one combine the effect of both lynx and saracen... good for offence and defense


i have a few legendary armor : combat spy, combat archer, troop training, yielding, recherche, construction, killing invader, production


but since i have begin to play in juni 2017, i have spend each month 4.99 for a hero energy package... it is the only package that i buy each month... with time, it pay off... and only attack uber who have material or gems that i need


i have 4 other cities too, each hyperfarming one type of ressource... it is all they do and feed my main account in ressource who allow me to make plenty of expensive combat research...

Your question was about scout defense but unfortunaly, i have no screenshot from scout defense... but i have from a recent archer defense...


look at the screenshot below... i am a lvl 25, almost 700 mil influence... attacker was lvl 29 with almost 4.7 billion influence... all his bonus that you can see at the end of the screenshot are way better that mine... only in my speciality archer, i am a little better...


So, how it come that i win the defence with a huge advantage ? i only loose 66k t1


Very simply, huge saturation level with t1...


Same can be apply for spy defense... few million of t1 spy with at least 100k t2-t3-t4 will do the job... t1 take the beating and t2-t3-t4 do the killing... with medium gear and research, you will be able to beat bigger guys in defense... only danger is a massivde onslaught where you can loose your saturation advantage... so, not long without shield or move regulary, so ennemy cannot setup a onslaught against you

In my opinion, best way to get materials - farm 6 lvl invaders. I test it by myself: to kill 5 lvl Invader I need 18k-20k energy, for 6 lvl 25k-30k, but from higher lvl i have much more good material eather 5 lvl.

You probably mean kill lvl 6 invaders... but the word "farm" remember me of a way to have material if you don't have energy... yield invader tile...


It is slower but cost nothing and yielding make points in plenty of event


For barbarian/centurion material, you can only have it when you yield the special lvl 7 tile after a winning kvkr... there is a table somewhere on this forum with what material you can found on tile lvl 7


i am below 40k for uber invader and i kill only these now, mainly for the special gem who boost research and construction that usual invader don't drop


The opening topic was about scout defense... morganite gem for scout defense can only be found by uber Longobard... zircon gem for scout health only by uber Avarin... so at the end, uber are the way to go when you specialize because of the special gem...

The trouble with the stronghold combat Armour  is that it only works for one type of troop e.g killer or ranged I prefer to have equal stats for all my troops, If I had all cavalry troops with stronghold cavalry Armour and I was attacked by just Melee troops with Stronghold melee Armour they would have a massive 50% bonus against my cavalry troops.


Yes I also buy the hero energy package for 4.99 to attack the umber invaders  but so for I can only get epic from an umber invader and my max attack is 445% I also like to attack the lv4 invaders as I get epic material from them too even though it stats you can only get rare from them.


I hyper farm too I have one other account and I use it to hyper farm stone I also use my main account to hyper farm food I currently produce 4m food an hour.

the problem with all type of troops is research... you cannot research everything for all type of troop unless you burn your credit card


in my example, i have loose only 66k t1 archer... and he was with horse... in defense, a good saturation do the jobs... for attack, it is something else... it is why my other speciality is spy... never, i will attack a guy, same a little one who is specialist in horse...


normally, with 445% you can have legendary material from uber... the attack % is one thing, more give better mat but a other thing important is the critical hit... for any invader, a critical hit give a material above the usual lvl... it is why you have epic from lvl 4, it happen when you do critical hit... you level of critical hit is probably not enough for uber...


my own stat are ( without my royal guardsman legendary gear ) and the 20% scroll booster :

- attack in serie 40 ( 600% ) ( allow to increase power of hit and give better reward when high )

- critical hit 57.5% ( give a reward above normal when hit )

- reduced invader defense 69.85% ( reduce energie needed for attack )

- hero offense 208.6% ( increase power from hit and reward, so less energy for fully kill a invader too )


usualy, i need around 40k energy for a uber... and begin to receive legendary material for normal when i reach 125%


don't ask for a formula, i don't know... but these 4 variable are important... the little 20% from scroll too... all research, gear, hero skill are additive... but bonus from scroll is multiplicative...


my offense is 208.6%... if i put my full royal guardsman gear... total 208.6+ 6 * 4.4 = 235%

my offense is 208.6%... forget to put my royal gurdsman gear but activate the scroll 20%... total 208.6 * 1.2 =  250.32%

my offense is 208.6%... put gear and activate scroll 20%... total 235 * 1.2 =  282%


welcome to vikings war of clans... a game who seem simple but who have in fact a very complex game mechanic... where little thing can make a huge difference

With the 20% boost activated and the max 445% increased attack bonus I only take 1.61% energy from an umber invader when I get a critical hit.

Didn't read all topic attentively but did someone already write about runes ?

There is few very good ones for scout (but not only on def tho) : Night Veil (Leg 32% scout offence), Iron Vill (9% scout def), Vengeance (9% scout health).

And if smb said about Gems there’re Morganite (12% scout def from Langobard)  and Zircon (12% scout health from Avarin)

No the runes have not been mentioned in this post, Would you say that the Night Veil rune is the best rune for scouts and as you can only use one rune per piece of Armour would you suggest using it for all 6 pieces of scout Amour.

Which rune you will use will depend on how you want to use your spies.  As on offensive weapon use Night Veil, as more of a spy trap then Vengeance or Iron will.

As a person in the middle of researching shaman knowledge, don't waste your resources or time on them until you finish most of your other knowledge trees.  Try to get your oracle to level 27, that will allow you to access much more of the espionage tree.

Yes runes are the new game changer and are very important, however they are more useful in attack rather than defense but still very good for defense.

I recently got runes ranging from rare to epic, legendary runes are something for the truly rich people at this point. 

Having 12 rare attack runes in my hero gear and my shaman attacking gear is 12*19.20 percent which is huge, my ratios when attacking now improved a lot. For lynx I use the HP and defense runes it also helps but not as much as attack runes.

These are some recent hits on tiles where people were setting traps (which I think is very bad to set traps on tiles). I made a mistake while selecting troops in the first hit, went for 100k t4 but but ended up with 30k and lost some t6. The thing is first hit the guy had comparable rsrch I had maybe just a little more defense and health than him but runes in attack absolutely turn the ratios up for the attacker.

Very useful info thank you, For your  6 pieces of Lynx Armour do you use 3 Stamina Runes and 3 Prowess Runes, Not sure what Runes to use for the Saracen Armour as there does not appear to be a Rune for all troop offence.

Yes I mainly want to use my spies as an offensive weapon so I think Night Veil is the way to go however I do want to use my spies as a Scout trap too and maybe Lynx Gear would be better for this rather than Sigurd's gear as if the attacker just attacks and does not Scout First my other troops would be wiped out if I was in Scout Armour.
