Captainbently,
Your Castle Defense Bonus increases the defensive performance of any Units your have defending your Castle. Building Fortifications, (Walls, Towers, Gates, Ballistae, etc.) and Improvements increases your Castle's overall Defense Bonus. Keep in mind that your Castle Defense Bonus only helps your Units defend against attacks, and will not help you if you have no defensive force posted at your Castle. Each 100 Defensive points increase your Units' Defensive stats by 1%.
A fireball does not become effected by castle defense, you require units to absorb it. The castle defense only improves your defensive unit's stats
What does the Castle defense bonus need to be in order to withstand a Fireball attack? I am wondering since the Fireball attack is 12,600 that the defense mod bonus need to be at least 12,800. Any thoughts?Your Castle Defense Bonus is completely ignored by Fireballs, it is a magical attack and your walls are useless
I think you were lucky this timewell..after saying that.....
i took a fireball today, i had very little defense out and was able to keep my level 6 altar of weor.
so....just like anyting else in this game, i have no idea what anything does at any given time. there is no predictability here.

its not supposed to be a game of luck or chance.
If i were the attacker, i'd be angry. My fireball didnt kill a weor.....so now my enemy's resource production remains 25% higher and helping him make troops.

We already have Woer's Protection Spells in our Black Market > Misc > Special .... but the cost is prohibitive, and it only delays the attack.
It would be better if the attacker was not warned that protection was active and the spell absorbed the attack
Weor's Protection is different. Our devs are preparing something new which will work only against Missiles.
