Granted this is ancedotal but it seems to me like the vast majority of players want to farm Great Hall medals/questlines/Arbiter/whatever smoothly rather than the alternative that we had.
That said, I am starting to see mostly pages of full teams in Gold V, even if those teams aren't very good.

It seems they have been steadily increasing the maximum number of losses per day from what I've heard. Not sure what it currently is, or what the plan is. But I would expect they are trying to make at least g4 g5 competitive in addition to plat? I don't really have a clue or care.
My suggestion to the OP is to spend time in Tag Arena if he wants PvE experience. Can brag when in Gold Tag, classic arena boasting is laughable.

I'd like to see G5 become more competitive, but am not looking the gift horse in the mouth and have been farming medals like crazy. Frankly, I haven't been paying attention to losses recently at all. If it's been increasing I assume it's in the 12-15 range.

I just had 5 easy wins in G5 and 4 easy wins in BR2 tag.

I cant get a feel for how many losses. There seems to be no pattern. Some days I lose a lot and others days not as much. After reset this week it was 18 hours before my first loss.

I'm still seeing up to 6 one champ teams per refresh in gold 5.
After 3 years of playing this game (and i suck at it), i have never seen arena as 'perfect' or 'balanced.' It's either a struggle, a bitch, almost an impossibillity, just to maintain your current tier. Or it's easy farming for medals.
That, my friends, is what we call reality. We can talk about utopia. We can talk about perfection. And yes we can and should talk about how to approach these ideas. But my advice, based on experience and reality, is to get them while you can.
During the easy times I farm all the medals I can, and work on other areas of the game. When it gets hard i focus on improving arena.
And at the end of the day, i sit in the shade under the pecan tree drinking a beer, and wonder if my grandchildren will ever know what it means to have a balanced arena. GFL!
