Well, the legendaries in the shop aren't going to remain static, so maybe there'll be some cheaper ones later.  

Given how the faction guardian and empowerment systems work, it's hard to imagine I'll ever have enough spare legendaries to make "unbinding" worthwhile.  Maybe if it turns out I'm the rightful King of England I can trade the Crown Jewels for enough sacred shards to get another 2000 tokens, but otherwise it's not going to happen unless I'm still playing this game at the age of 900.

I'm hoping Plarium hands out some life tokens periodically as patch gifts, tournament prizes, and so forth.  Otherwise the only people who can actually afford to use them will be oil barons and the House of Grimaldi.

yeah be like 10000 if plarium had their way, personally i think we should be able to choose a champ we would like. Id instantly drop all my dupes for salad just to get the wipe on 21 i just dont have the fire power to wipe it at the moment lose 1 champ at around 40% and its normally my anax who i just cant seem to get tanky enough to survive those boss hits unfortunately running with zelotah, maus mage, vogoth & tried skartorsis / nekhret / frozen banshee / elegaius - gorgorab or grinner would be mint about know if i had shards after chasing dutchess lol

siphi would be mint ive dropped so many void shards i have to be near pitty system - dropped 60 in the last month chasing serris got her on the 30 guaranteed and then few randons in between then and the 23 i just dropped chasing krisk lol

That's not what she said at all. 

It's a free gift that they didn't have to give us. Be upset with the system as a whole if you want. But why are people complaining about receiving something for nothing? 

I want to be neutral on this.

Yes it is free, everyone should be thankful.

But some of the f2p players felt insulted in a way. How? They believe 500 tokens will help a lot of whales while for f2p players...? Where are they going to use this 500 tokens? It is not like they can use this to buy refills. When are they going to have at least 5 dupes to buy Minaya (at least)? They will probably quit first before they even get 5 dupes.

But then again, everyone should be thankful.

I don't bother about the life tokens or the cost of the legendaries in the shop.

If I will get dupe legendaries, they will go into the Guardian Ring. Or, if they are dupes to my most used champs, they will be sacrificed to empower.

If, after 30 years of playing, I will have dupe legendaries beyond that, I'll start to look what they have in the shop.

Some combination of entitlement and unwillingness or inability to understand everything in the game has some sort of monetary value attached to it, would be my best guess.  

I think it's more that the 500 tokens are, for the overwhelming majority of players, really only a "gift" if they're willing to spend hundreds of dollars trying to get the four duplicate legendary champions that'd be necessary to actually use the 500 tokens.

It isn't really so much a "gift" as a discount.  Discounts are fine, but when they're disguised as gifts... Well, some people find that annoying.

I 100% can understand how people would be annoyed because currently, overwhelming % of the player base can't do a thing with them right now. 

On the flip side, if someone's been playing a long time/has a healthy roster of legendaries that doesn't include enough dupes to be helped right now by these tokens, that also means they haven't had to deal with the annoyance of too many of their legendaries being dupes. 

It just seems like one of those things to me that is complaining for the sake of complaining. To each their own, I suppose.

They are gonna sit in my bank for a long, long, long time. But at least I'm 500 closer for when I finally pull a dupe.
