Arena Defense Champions are played exclusively by the AI Computer.

Arena Offense Champions are played manually by a person or AI Computer.

The choice to manually play your team changes the nature of the fight.

The AI computer lacks long term strategical thinking.

The AI computer has been programmed to play certain moves as priority over other moves.

A human can alter the moves a hero will do.

You can use a move to further help your Strategic plan.

For Example:

I give this hero a 5 on Arena Offense

I give this hero a 4 on Arena Defense

The move I want Spider to do is the move Glowing Mark, but that isn't the move the AI Computer wants.

The AI Computer does the move Calamity.

The move Glowing Mark does AOE Decrease Enemy Defense

The move Calamity does AOE Decrease Enemy Attack

If I play this hero on Auto in Arena Offense, He does Calamity.

If I play this hero on Auto in Arena Defense, He does Calamity.

However, I have the power to manual him on Arena Offense.

I can force Spider to do the move Glowing Mark which is the move helping with my Arena strategy.

This is why I have given him a better ranking in Offense vs. Defense.

On Arena Defense, I would have to build my Arena Team around the fact that Spider will do the Calamity move.

or I would have to substitute Spider for another hero who prioritizes the AOE Decrease Enemy Defense.

Is AOE Decrease Enemy Attack Bad? NO!

It just isn't the move I want for my specific arena strategy.

I dont know where get that info, for more than I year now, my defense is also my offense and it is getting wins.

Another thing to consider is that a good arena defense champion should also be difficult to counter.

With that said the ratings in-game can be very wrong. I see it often on spider where champions that are good at spider 1-12 and awful at later stages have really high ratings. Champions that are godlike on spider 20 get low/mediocre ratings.

I dont think that many think like PlayerJ does when rating arena defense - but I do agree with him.

@Trips......I have started using a different defense in arena.  The core is still my offensive team but I change 1-2 players.  To the casual player they look innocent, but I know they have special aura, skills or gear.  Most casual players only look at the point ratings.  They do not click the other team and check each player.  I am getting more defensive wins, but still not close to what I need.  Its a work in progress. 

After some time you wouldn't check them anymore. You will know what they all do, how they behave on auto, you will litteraly can tell what will happen within the firsts rounds.

The only qwestion you will have will be something like are his Arbiter faster than mine, is that Maus Mage wearing Immune set, do they both have shield set and things like that. 

At some point Arena is like your daily job - you know what to do, you know how to do it, so lets finish this and get back to the fun parts, like farming food. 

I am still having problems farming food.  I have Kael 60 with all his masteries.  He is fully ascended.  5^ gear leveled to 12-16.  But he cant get past 8.3 dragging chickens.

So he's not in lifesteal gear anymore? That makes it a lot harder, of course... not sure if it's absolutely required, but tough if he doesn't have any form of healing. 

Also, am I seeing correctly that only one piece has a crit rate substat, but you use crit damage gloves? What's his total crit rate? If it isn't close to 100 percent, or at least 75-80, you should probably switch the crit damage gloves for crit rate ones. It doesn't make sense to have high crit damage if you aren't getting critical hits on the large majority of your hits.

What exactly are you trying to get your Kael to do?

First of all you have to use lifesteal gear on your Kael, especially if you're running cb with him. Then, you have to change the T6 into "Warmaster" and increase the accuracy.

@Valdys.........I changed Kael to lifesteal and CR gear.  His gear is 5* L12.  Until I find a build that I like I am not going to 6* L16 gear on him.  Its a huge investment and I want it to be right.

If I build a Shiledguard for farming what gear will he need?  Which stats would be the priority?  Will he need full masteries?
