Masteries
I always do masteries the slow way. I save about 200 gems and get some HP for my champs and silver along the way. With RSL helper I can leave it running all night unattended.
Is there a downside to this that I dont see?

Is your question whether there is a downside to running Minotaur with four people that need masteries and one person that is L60 and can solo it, and level up the four at the same time? If so, the only reasons not to do this are 1) if you can instead just run with five people that need masteries and XP, or 2) if you have so many gems that there's no point in wasting the time :)

I run it with 2 who need masteries and it still seems resource effective.
This game has taught me to always look behind the curtain for a surprise.
EDIT: I have 12k gems but why squander? I got them by carefully managing resources.
I have found that the ideal formula is to run a two-toon team to clear and three toons that need to be mastered. Doing it this way is a very close balance in terms of XP earned and scrolls earned, so that you aren't done levelling or scrolling long before the other is done....squeezing out every possible ounce of efficiency...
Running the two-toon clear team is just for speed. If you have a fast enough solo toon, you can certainly run a solo clear, but I'd still say don't run with 4 to master. I used to do that, and the toons always hit L60 before finishing their scrolls.
Mathematically, four scroll getters reach level 57 when fully completing scrolls, and many champs can easily do it in sub 2 minutes solo.
Well, I throw 4 brews into every L60 for some cheap champ training points, which starts them at L20 when they hit Mino, and they are typically L59 or L60 when they are done with masteries.
IMO, that is the perfect balance.
Can you name a few champs who can solo?
My first Mino 15 solo toon was Valla (Barbarian Spirit Epic). She was 100%, but she wasn't exactly quick about it. Since then, I have used Brago, Septimus, Razelvarg & Staltus as solo toons. Staltus is my fastest solo at 30-35 seconds per run.
I have also used the following duos: (1) Septimus with Stag Knight, (2) Razelvarg with WuKong, (3) Razelvarg with Gnut, (5) Razelvarg with Rathalos, (6) Razelvarg with Katonn.
No matter who I try, I can't get much faster than 30 seconds per run.

I have Thor, and Razelvarg + the champs. How do they need to be geared to survive and win?
1-2 min runs are fine with me as long as 100%.
same way they'd be geared for literally any other content?
it's not like we're dealing with amius on hard mode here; this is the minotaur we're talking about. he's got 600k hp, 100 speed, and even if he gets a turn in, his hits do like 5k damage. as long as they have multiple AoE attacks to oneshot the waves, any halfway decent nuker should be able to solo him.
