Roll back your changes, Plarium

Let me tell you, as a dev with almost 20 years of experience - if I shipped code with this many problems, I'd be lucky to keep my job, and the very first thing I'd be doing is immediately pushing a rollback, followed by a strongly-worded apology.

There are so many problems with this latest update, that it really isn't acceptable to just say "you'll be watching and fixing things if necessary". Roll it back, admit you messed up, and fix it properly when you've had time to debug and figure out what messed up.

Why roll back?

I see zero reason to do so. They just need some AI tweaking for targeting and then it's all good.

These Hydra changes were an absolute necessary in my opinion. And people needing to 1) get used to reduce damage numbers 2) rebuild their teams some is just part of what needs to happen.

I would not want to go back to trying to get maximum cheese Trunda damage for hours and hours, nor even the way longer normal runs that we had to do.

I disagree.  It runs smoothly.  Is it more difficult than intended yes. Can that be addressed with a patch or two, i think so.

Progress isn't a linear positive slope, change is going to require adjustments on our part. If you think exact same teams should do equivalent damage while simultaneously nerfing the comps that we ASKED FOR then I don't know what to say.

I mean a fair assessment of the rollout would be a C or C minus.  The 4 head 100pct no damage is pretty bad. And I don't think trunda was nerfed enough (from what I've heard 2nd hand). The AI bad... The Red color indistinguishable health bar TERRIBLE.  No way someone like closedpoly can tell what's what lol

But on a plarium curve it's good :)

big agree. I think once the figuring out of teams, gearing and such sorts itself out this is gonna be such a massive time saver. obviously the bugs need fixing, but overall I'm here for the future of chaos snek.

I understand there is a rather large subset of players who would rather just be able to auto and not change anything with teams (including improving builds as an approach to the game long term) but as someone that's always improving builds (which I think people should be doing) I don't mind the regears/retooling.

The majority of players agree with OP from what I read. To approve the hydra changes is quite delusional. No one I know is pushing damage in hydra now, they are not interested in it anymore and just getting the basic rewards. A game that punishes success is not going to keep customers.

The AI is a mess for a start, the serpents will needs fixing as well.

I dont believe the comments on here reflect wider feeling -it always makes me laugh to see the cheerleading for plarium on the 'official forums'

But then, i dont think people feel the 'massive outrage' that the content creators claim. It is somewhere between...

The people who feel strongly enough one way or the other to actually comment are always gonna be the outliers, the silent majority will always be somewhere in between

Can you, as an experienced dev Krama, tell why they release couple halfassed bugfixes (not talking about hydra in particular) in the same timeframe a proper 3d mmo releases whole new continents/quests/dungeons/raids/secrets to explore? This question is in the back of my head always when i play Raid lol. They actually do nothing but pretend they are working hard lmao 😂

I don't have much to add to what Moored said, the silent majority is either in the middle, or just as likely I think, doesn't care.

I personally think the AI needs work. I don't think anything at all needs to change about Serpent's Will.

Well, I guess something needs to change any Serpent's Will ... the way people deal with it and build teams for it. :D

You don't object to the fact that Plarium clearly stated that having all the heads with the buff simultaneously would be very rare, yet it happens multiple times in every fight?

They clearly desgined that piece to prevent the Trunda-style nuking of respawned heads, but the reality is that it penalizes lower-than-old-Trunda damage teams far more because those are the teams that do not nuke all the severed heads simultaneoulsy, so they end up with heads respawning at different times and all getting the buff.  This will eventually lead to less diversity in team selection, not more, because the only mechanisms that are nuking the severed heads simultaneously are (1) AoE Enemy Max HP and (2) Surprise, Surpise: Trunda.

The actual implementation punishes the wrong teams, and goes back to the bigger points:  failure to test effectively and then giving fasle information because they don't actually know what is going to happen.

I hate to say this and please keep in mind this is anecdotal, but my current Hydra Clash matchup is very competitive. The total damage difference between 1st place and 5th is a much MUCH smaller gap than pre-nerfs.

Not saying this is true for all, it is a single example and many Hydra changes still need to be made... but yeah, my grouping seems more competitive and reasonable now

No, I don't object. All of my runs this week have not run into this problem of 4 Serpent Will heads. Like at all. So it's quite rare for me, yes.

Perhaps my teams are so bad that I can't put out enough damage to have this issue that you guys are.Or maybe that I was always heavily reliant on max HP hitters and Trunda.

Either way, my per turn damage is better across the board for my standard damage. So I personally have zero reasons to be up in arms.

Actually I'm incredibly happy that Hydra takes way less time for me now too. I hated running cheese teams.

Once the AI is fixed I'll have nothing to ask for except even harder Hydra with an even lower turn limit for even shorter runs.

That new health bar isnt my current score?  Just because I am old, color blind and need new FREE glasses there is no reason to target me personally here.

lol

I don't believe my hard and brutal teams are so bad that they were less impacted. Though they did worse and I only ran once on auto.

Do you think improved AI targeting and maybe a slight tweak in the respawn logic would make your runs similar to prior damage?

Only 1 of my 6 keys was done manual, and not very well.  The brutal hard teams definitely had a decent drop off, but I honestly think improved auto targeting will rectify a ton.

My brutal team was better both times I tested.

My hard team I actually just submitted after some quick testing earlier in the week, and it was better than whenever I last ran it like a year ago. It's been Trunda cheese for several attempts and up to hours every week since I built that team.

So it's better than whatever was before Trunda cheese, but that was a long time ago... so seems more to do gear improvement overall, and mostly with having Thor now who hits like a truck. Have several changes for this on Hard I want to try, like using my second Trunda. Reworked Trunda is just a crazy good DPS.

I do think we need the AI fixes for sure. And I know they're working on them now, so I don't expect it to take months and months.

Here's mine:

Found out I ended up running my hard team today with several champs missing gear. That's what I get for testing earlier in the week and then moving gear to complete a bunch of Soulcross during free regear. Just opened Hydra and hit start while making dinner. Haha.

Marius AND Michinaki! I'm so... SO very jealous. Especially since Trips seems to have 2 of each :(

I'm happy to have them both for sure. Maybe I'll even go back and make sure champs are fully geared this week. 😅 😅

Excited to run with Trunda Two in hard mode in place of Dreng. She piled on the damage in Brutal even in her old 70% CR build.

Give players the option to set thier own AI and you could get fully 100% optimized results for every champ in the game in a single day :D
