I need to talk about lacewing

This is really disappointing to see, that the new lacewing mech does not fly, and instead jumps and leaves bombs. I understand a legendary lancer is long overdue, but I'm sure we can agree a flying mech could have been much more exciting. I'm just disappointed. I do have some amount of copium that they will make a flying mech though, so fingers crossed. *sigh*

I hope no flying mechs ever. War robots has flying robots. They're always so vulnerable they're overtuned in every way to compensate

So its basically a replacement for tengu and lancer? Screw Plarium at this point I should just not even invest in anything

Why replacement? Lancer is for the early game; Tengu is for the mid-game, according to their Grades. Both of them are out of place competing with Legendary Mechs, so it's a perfect time for the new Mech to show up!

Anyway, will lacewig just be yet another 24 energy scout mech? At this point the meta will only be scout mechs, since attackers don't really have as much value compared to them, 24 energy is all that's needed after all, attackers are just too slow to keep up.

Another thing is that surge, nomad, and eclipse are meta right? So this mech is completely obsolete. It doesn't have stealth after jumping so it's vulnerable. If this mech could fly, I think alot more people would want this mech.

the best thing to do i think is give it a 35% defense against guided weapons when jumping, since those weapons are often used and one of the most deadly in this game.

edit: i would also suggest a heavy targeting delay instead of removing it, especially since with its jump ability when used properly it can get into cover much easier and faster...i would also suggest checking out where this mech can jump thanks to its better jumping capabilities since players can be rather creative with it and maybe cause a lot of damage when in places that can't be hit with most weapons.

Lancer always had its own niche and we've been over this, other items can and already do cross grade boundaries. I said this before as well, this was a thing that was likable prior to the grade update. It is likable that it is still a thing, I'm suggesting no change to that. Tengu maybe meant to do well mid game but some players still use it (mostly for fun) at max. Lacewing wouldn't replace Tengu, but it basically takes the one niche from Lancer and makes it obsolete completely. Not only does it have the same jump height but it can move in the air, has two jumps, and drops mines when jumping. Oh and it has higher energy capacity too because as if the other parts of its toolkit weren't enough. It's literally just Cheetah and Lancer combined but better. Totally uninspired and falls into the category of copycat powercrept mechs as well. At least when nomad was added with its double dash it still left a niche for killshot to occupy. The same isn't true with lancer or cheetah here.

Well consider mech arena but more unbalanced, greedier and buggier, with flying robots.

I like Lacewing for the fact that it isn't another broken Legendary scout mech, Lacewing's power and utility mainly depends on the map. It looks like it's more tactically based.

Hello! That's an interesting opinion. We will definitely take it into account 👌

Still, the original idea was to have pretty similar Mechs for different stages of the game (Lancer - early-game, Tengu - mid-game, Lacewing - end-game). In these terms, it seems like it works well.

Of course you'll take it into account because it's only logical. If some items are meant to be stronger than others then each should at least have a niche use case that it excels in over others. Lancer's was height advantage. Tengu is ambush brawler. Cheetah area control. May still be able to occupy this niche as it has more ability charges and shorter cooldown.

The idea of everything exceling in a certain niche is born from the knowledge that some items are meant for certain stages of the game, so it is tough to balance everything. Everything at least being able to accel in a niche is a close to balance as it gets.

Lacewig should get stealth upon jumping, that would add a lot more utility to its ability, since the mines are kinda of just there, like what's the point of the mines? How do they synergize with a mech that most likely will just be jumping on roofs and therefore placing more mines in a location that no mech beside another lacwig or tengu can get on to? What makes lacewing legendary besides its energy and health?

Basically, it is an Ability to make TWO jumps and throw multiple mines. The idea of stealth for Lacewing is already well-known, but in this way, Lacewing would be quite overpowered, so we don't consider its rebalances/rework at this moment.

Well either way this mech doesn't exactly provide much value, it doesn't work all that well in higher SP brackets since bots target players and therefore every time a player uses lacewing they are almost immediately shot down. Maybe the devs could let lacewing jump in the air: while in the air if you presss the jump button again, it instead causes the lacewing to dash through the air before dropping down again. This way there isn't stealth which as you mentioned could be problematic, but then there is also at least some more counterplay to being shot at in the air. javs? Dash midair to dodge them! This would be both a fun addition and make lacewing a bit more enticing to play as and against. Because like with killshot, a bad dash could quickly get you killed.

And like tengu, whatever way your legs are facing, is the direction you'll dash in!
