Maze 2 is the key.  Start at center of maze 2 and work to the outer ring of maze 3. From there follow the outer ring of maze 3 around to outer ring of maze 4. This leads into maze 1.  From there you can return to maze 2 and out to those trio of trees.

The outside of the maze is a solid wall.  The instructions tell you to get Oberon "out of the maze."  The maze is a two-dimensional "flatland" universe.  You can only get out of it if you can leap or fly over the wall.  That takes you out of the maze into the third dimension.  "Hyperspace" to a flatlander.  He can catch a griffin or like flying creature, and fly over  the wall and get out of the maze.  And that is the only way you can do it without destroying the maze itself.  

If you are permitted to destroy the maze itself, just walk to the outer wall,  and whip out your trusty eraser, and erase a hole into the outer wall, and walk out.
