A box with a secret

Jarls, the mighty Konung who solemnly rules the Place of Power has decided to test our ingenuity and attention to detail. The Konung gave us a box with a strange lock. We can't get it open no matter what we try, but maybe you will figure out how to do it.

Hi Alice, you have to turn the middle part, align the oranges and then you get the answer 2

I hope you'll have a good secret in this box 😁

and I will go with half the meaning of life: ie  2 1

ie rotate inner disk to align orange lines and then rotate whole disk ??

(I like Franz's logic but the yellow lines don't join together and presumably they should)

okay, IF the outer ring is moveable (and not the center) - an information not given in the riddle - THEN the solution will be 1

I say 2. Spin the middle to make picture of viking upright, then line up the red lines

Let's treat this like a disc tumbler lock where we have to hit each number in sequence, rotating the disc in opposite directions between slots, to eventually open the box. We're also going to make a few assumptions necessary to crack this puzzle and open the box. The first being that you can rotate the outer ring freely. The second assumption is that once a colored pair of the lines on the inner ring align with their counterpart on the outer ring, both rings can be rotated together from the center knob. The final assumption is that you can realign the disc by rotating the outer ring alone until a different color of lines are paired.

Now let us begin. First, rotate the outer ring five notches counterclockwise for the orange lines to match the inner ring. That'll line up the orange lines to give you the first combination.
Now that a pair of colored lines are combined you can rotate the inner ring from the knob and the outer ring will follow suit. Grab the knob and rotate both rings simultaneously, five notches clockwise this time. That'll line up the orange lines to give you the second combination.
Now realign the disc by rotating only the outer ring this time, six notches counterclockwise will do the trick. That'll line up the yellow lines to give you the third combination.
Once again now you can rotate the inner ring from the knob and the outer ring will follow suit again. Grab the knob and rotate both rings simultaneously, five notches clockwise like the last time. That'll line up the yellow lines to give you the fourth and final combination.

With those four rotations the lock should come undone, allowing the box to be opened.
