Hello John.  In "Battle Reports" you see if you have earned any Soul Shards.  An example is when I attacked a city in anothetr Kingdom it recorded I had Kill a good number of troops.  It also told me I had recieved 79 Soul Shards.  I checked my inventory and I had.  The problem I had in our Clan Siege was the "Battle Reports" recorded the number of troops we lost and killed AND told us the Number of Soul Shards we recieved.. The PROBLEM was that of the 3 clan members who participated. NONE of us recieved any into our inventory.

I have a soul shard problem too. I left the clan temporarily to go to another kingdom to attack a ghost town (part of a clan) whose shield had just dropped, successfully killed 82 million + troops and I can't see anything in the battle reports about earning any soul shards.

Do I have to be in a clan to earn soul shards? That is rather tough on all those nonclan member out there.

Yes it cost 3 drakars for me to move, and you are free to pay drakars to move at any time.  The town you attack for soul shards has to belong to a clan but as far as I know it does not matter which kingdom. I haven't managed to find any instruction on that yet.

And soul shards become the main building material for troops, aesir etc, a real pain and hard to earn unless you can kill millions of t7 and t8 jotuns.

Plarium has sent me confirmation that you can only get soul shards by killing players from another kingdom, as per a temporary relocation, i.e. as part of a competition.

You left clan and moved to a different kingdom(with drakkars?) attacked an unshielded town and gained no shards? That is probably because you moved to the very same kingdom the town originates..

Your own kingdom players does not give soul shards. Any players outside of your own kingdom will give soul shards when killed. 

My advice is build a level 4 stronghold and tower of odin and get a few friends 3-5 people(fighters) can be a decent clan and grow their military strength. Do not go excess on the influence by having a shit ton of troops you dont spend. Unless you know you are capable of atleast taking on 600m t7 onslaught by other clans.

I pointed out why pipkin did not receive soul shards, it gotta be the same kingdom, theres is no other explaination. The part about level 4 stronghold and tower of odin is an advice, followed by some pointers.

If people want ghost towns to magically grow some troops every now and then for them to get something to attack and gain soul shards.. I can say that'll get you nowhere. 

As for defending a siege and not gain ANY soul shards.. that just cant be true(If you defended against jotunns)

With a level 4 tower of odin you can get 50-56m shards total every 3 days. If you are few in the clan then more shards among you. No ofcourse doesnt it solve the soul shard problem, dont be ridiculous. 

Thanks John and xyz. It gets worse. The game originally suggested before the move that I could return in 24hrs. Now I learn you have to wait a month to spend any more drakkars - and it will use all the drakkars I have. A real expensive learning exercise. This kingdom has a lot of towns that have stopped playing and have  shields due to drop in the next 3 weeks - but they wont give me any soul shards and I do not need or want their rss. So sad!

As xyz suggested: allowing all ghost towns to regenerate troops continuously for soul shards would make it too easy to get soul shards. I had the impression that the clans in my former kingdom used to take turns taking the pop from each other to get soul shards, a misconception or has something changed?

The other bigger clan members have realised they are going to have to develop a fighting force to get any further. They have been great farmers until now - no 4 clan in this last competition.

Nothing for it but to do soul shards the hard way: a 1.1tril infl lv40 ek player left 4.2mil t6 on several gold fields at the start of my alt's clan cvc. At least the ek player got some decent soul shards out of it too )) , and it is still cheaper than taking on 12 million t7 Jotuns backed up by millions more level 4, 5, and 6 troops.

The Jotunn marches are very very much weaker than players atleast and siege defense is the cheapest way to get shards If you get to do it in peace.

So it might be a good idea to have 2 strongholds. Use one for pure shard farming, keeping the 2nd stronghold for cvc and point scoring till you eventually get dry behind the ears. Problem is that once you start getting over 4T influence youll face many with this tactic.. using 2 strongholds during cvc. Some folks even got level 5-6 tower of odin Making victory almost impossible for the non disciplined.  

complete your ubba gear and upgrade it. Its one of the easiest gains to your stats for starters. buy and save gold specifically for town upgrades, some secret knowledge. Fortress knowledge. At lvl 38 you can get to level 6/10 knowledge i think, pick it as number one. Get tier 8 for second, itll take a moment till they can be used effectively.

brotherhood of the north subscription is very good for helheim fires to complete your gear upgrades.

if you siege in peace you can try saturate the stronghold with troops. Put t6 with hero shaman/double and fill up the rest of the stronghold with T7 without hero. 

the idea is for the t6 meatshield to be exchanged as needed and be a shield for your t7 which point is to add to your defensive stat pool. Obviously dont do this during hostile competitions.

You may get the chance for 56k x 2000 hero energy for 10 dollar up to several times a month. Its not a bad idea to grab it. 

the packs are greater today than when level 40 first was released. Its written "catch up" all over. There is also over 1b gold available a few times a month. Getting to 40 has gotten a little more trivial. 

These gold packs are also great for secret knowledge to get you abit up to speed despite you dont have the most kill experience thus had the shards on hand to develop military knowledge. You also need to spend alot of gold for some of the town skins. 

If your kingdom doesn't want peace then maybe change kingdom? 

Plarium already have translation in other game where they are fully testing it and Vikings will get translation thing this year

I am super impressed: 49ml t4s smashing 195 mil t6 and t7.  The best I ever manage is 9ml t4 losing to 12ml t7s and the millions more t4  5 and 6 they have with them ... I get 600k t4s at the cost of 7mil of my t4s. I am obviously doing something wrong (not that I have 40mil t4s.).

How come there weren't any t4 and t5 in your Jotun march? Our tower is level 2. And I am still palace level 27 so no t7s and only lv 2 knowledge with t6. But thank you to both of you  - all good tips to pass on to the lv 36s in our clan.

We campaigned long and hard to get kingdom peace and apart from the occasional new person who needs to be taught the advantage of kingdom peace it has been great for the last couple of years: anyone is free to farm any tile and active players who lose shield are often notified by other clans instead of being attacked.

I don't know if anyone has replied, but looking at the posts that appear here, you can see in small print and sometimes quickly how many soul shards you have earned compared to the number shown in a siege report.
