Sounds like you were a victim of the often complained about 'Siege of the Stronghold'.
Your opponent,would have set the siege,by which the game creates armies to attack their stronghold,so the enemy mentioned was not you, but the troops created by the game.
John, it would appear that matching clans/kds in competitive battles is a real weak point in this game. As you have highlighted above 'significant points' in cvc are not available to clans without seige ability and so influence alone doesn't produce competitive battles.
It now seems that a clan can score points for their own CVC by participating in a seige of their alliance clan ... and their enemy clan gets no notification of their alliance clan doing a seige ... :(
