I just found out that if you have zero food in stock, your troops don't die...
That sounds illogical...
Why troops are consuming food if they don't die without it?
In my opinion troops should die if you don't have food to feed them, that would balance the game in some way.
Right now some of the players have enormous armies which are almost impossible to destroy if that is actually doable.
Any other opinions on this?
Its just the mechanics of the game , a lot of it doesn't make real time sense.
You cannot do upgrades without food so you have to have some means of getting a supply for this, and if you get any supply of food and you haven't enough food to satisfy the whole army you will find that it quickly disappears before you have a chance to do anything with it.
no food in stock have a secondary effect... you need food for research and construction...
food and army eating it is really a problem at low level... once you reach lvl 21, production double...
making troop die when food run off will only be a problem for smaller player...
i am lvl 25 with a lttle more that 12 million troop, 1.5 million of them are t5... with my rest armor, i yet produce 9 million food by hours
i am in red when i am in attack mode but never reach zero due to high capaciy farm and capacity
as destroy huge armies, it is possible... amount of troop is one thing but hero, shaman, armor and research are more important
for example, look below one of my attack... send only 500k troup, 200k are killed... but i have kill 2.8 million ennemy ( 80% who is the max ) in their own city... spy is my speciality... sometime after spy, i see a ennemy with a lot of archer... then contact a clanmate who have the expertise horse since horse have a 50% bonus on archer... and he do the attack
and for the very huge one, you have always onslaught too
Totaly agree with your answers. 'Troops upkeep' it's the game mechanic. Just imagine, if units would die without food all players would playing with food hyperfarm

when you want to do several upgrades and you have issues with troops devouring your food then you can use the troop upkeep boosts they reduce the amount of food your troops will eat before you manage to do the upgrades, these are great boosts if your a fightermy food consumption is reduced by 96% so they only eat 4% of what they should and I produce over 10m of food per hour pretty soon my troop will eat nothing so my army can be as big as I want it to be with no worries about food being all used up.
You mean "decreased food consumption" and that it is -96% ???Yes that is correct I have amended my post accordingly.

You need to rearrange your hero skills, etc and use the appropiate equipment for production,
There are 3 ways to reduce food consumption
Hero skill tree - up to 20% reduction
VIP - up to 50% reductiion
