Yes i also have trouble with that, i always get 100000 resources ;-)

But to help you a bit:

Step 1, build enough units that can transport at least 50K of resources.

Step 2, send out a lot of recons. You have to find a sector that contains enough resources. You have to assume that a part of that is in the bunker, you can't raid that.

Step 3, if you find that sector with enough resources, RAID the sector.

also, if you only have 50k capacity, you are only allowed to take 95% of your capacity home, so I always raid with 52k capacity

What's the point of the 95% capacity thing anyways?  Why can't our troops carry 100% of their capacity?

There is a way to raid for more than 50k resources for I discovered this when I contacted Tech support after being raided for 94k in resources that drove my resources into a negative number for I did not have 94k in resources at the time I was raided.  Since then I have been raided several more times by the same player that week in excess of 200k how this is done I still do not know.

he sends 50k creds and raids for the 100k resources

then he subsequently sends creds and raids resetting that limit to get another 50k each time

I just went up a level. when I did all the raid counters on all the castles everywhere I have looked including far away went to 0 and said wait an hour. This includes castles I have never raided nor am I hitting the 50k sector limit.  So how would I get this fixed? I tried restarting game and browser. I waited an hour and now they all say 1, but this seems to be a bug. They never all should have reset to 0.

As for raid, I am aware that players are able to raid above 50k resources from one target, OR raid more than the max allowed (10 and they recharge).

I have seen this at the weekly leaderboards for raids. You should be able to get a total of almost 4 million raid points in a week, yet there are people getting above that amount.

(10x50k from 1 raid = 500k per day; 7 days = 3.5 mil; adding starting amount because you would sometimes start a week with 10 already, so that is 4 mil)

Prev weekly winner is Lidia with 8.45 million raid points (more than double the max)

@Gladiator if planned properly, some people start their raids close to 24h before the new ranks start and do a long distance raid of 24h.

So that is 19 not 10 times a possible 100K. So that is an extra 9 times 500K - 1m. (1m if you know how to do 100K raids).

And suddenly 8.45m is then not a problem to do 

That's the thing, I don't know how to do 100k raids xD

Anyway, find a sector with at least 100K resources (After all that bunker limit, warehouse limit, troop limit, etc.), then send a raid.

Assuming you want to keep your resources, send a 50K caravan to the raid destination about 25 seconds before it hits, then recall  right after it hits.

I got raided for 37000 then 10 minutes later for 26000, I never got any caravans, I can never raid for over 50000 in a week let alone 10 minutes

You don't need to receive the load in order for the 'balance' to sway; They change as soon as the payload is sent.
