Lab Grown vs. Wild Mined

I want to buy an engagement ring for my significant other, but I want to learn more about the true differences between the two types of stones.

I understand the basics, like the price difference, etc. But every gemologist I've spoken to says that lab grown stones are pretty much the same as wild mined stones.

However, if that's the case, why is there such a big difference in price and why is there a difference between the two? If they were the same, there would be no reason to determine how they were made and there wouldn't be a big difference in price.

They are identical in composition and appearance and have the same physical and optical properties. But it's all about origin. A natural diamond takes many years to form in the depths of the Earth, while a lab-created diamond takes weeks to form under controlled conditions. This is what affects the price. You don't pay for the shine, but for the rarity and the extraction. The stones are really very similar and their composition, shine, and hardness are the same. That's why Madestones  focuses on lab-created ones. They are much more affordable and look identical.
