Yes, they do if left unattended in a castle.

Not sure what unattended means.... 

What I mean is they die if you leave units in the castle, not in the catacombs. If you send them outside of your castle, they will die only when they are back in your castle and you don't hide them in the catacombs, until then they are safe.

Ok...ok...they die if they are let outside of a castle.

but...they arrive at some point...how much time do we have to move them in catacombs...before they die? ( let suppose i don t have food).

 

The question was if and when the troups dies, in case we ran out of food.
