I'll go farther. Nobody said that "both" is about two squares on the left, so we have more options.
1. 1st square covers 2nd square - I can see all images (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).
2. 2nd covers 1st - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
3. 1st covers 3rd - 2, 4, 6, 8.
4. 2nd covers 3rd - 3, 5, 8.
5. 3rd covers 1st - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
6. 3rd covers 2nd - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
I believe, the idea was to cover square with images with both squares on the left, so there is only image #8.
