Presumably, you raided him? If so, and that player is on your "Friends" list, the "Enemy" status will reset after 7 days at the latest. Unless of course, you attack him again :-)

PS: Sending a player, friend or not, resources will change the map color coding, but I am uncvertain if it will also toggle the "Enemy" status. Perhaps worth a try.
