Totally agree. Right now our developers are checking the feedback from players about Emporias. I really hope they will find a way to make them more efficient. But right now there's still a big risk to be destroyed by others.
Just don't try to get ressources from Emporias. Its (almost) never worth it.
Sending small forces is tedious and you will still loose them fairly often. Sending large forces, as said above will be their doom fairly certain. If you need ressources, go raid someone (if you go for the inactive players, its almost riskless and still brings home more then emporias ever could)
Emporias still have some use:
a) Getting rid of units you don't want anymore. esp. when you overproduced / won more units then you can feed, just send some def troops you don't want anymore to an emporia, and either someone will do you the favour to get rid of those overfed bellies or they will actually bring sthg. home and you have to send them again.
b) Destroying other peoples unit to get points for quests / tournaments.

That might be a good rule to change ;)chakrab said:
Why is it that when I send troops to emporium, it takes 5 mins when they actually start collecting? It's one of the basic Emporium rules. You need to hold it at least 5 minutes until you're able to collect Resources.
I'm using 31 archers to hold an emporium for 90 mn, and 62 to collect 9k.
Note that the "collect 9k" quests can be done in small chunks, you don't have to collect them with just one party, so now I'm sending 4 smaller parties, with 3 out 4 enough to complete the quest.
For "hold for 90 mn" quest, I send parties to several targets so if some get killed, there's still hopefully one that will suceed.
And of course, I raid the crap out of any offender.
Some even understand what they did was bad and become friendly and respectful to other players. The others become farms. It's up to them.
So many people can't understand the social aspect of the game and keep on acting like whimsical and egotistic babies...
Sometimes they scout before they raid, so I can warn them. 95% of the time, they attack anyway. If I can be fast enough, I send 120 millions of defense there so they lose all their offense. Serves themselves well. Else I try and kill their offense when it's back to their cities. If I can't, I attack them later, and I sometimes get lucky (and they, on the other hand, aren't at all :p LOL)
Rude people have to be taught manners. That's what they deserve.
Attack emporia could be OK, I guess, provided you're officially at war. And even then I feel bad and apologize, and never attack more than one emporium from the same player. But I can't see te point of making ennemies from everybody around.
We're supposed to be playing an ancient Greece simulation. People then were sopposed to have honor and declare war before attacking, and not beign such gross boors.
It would be really cool if you could write a short Emporium tutorial for players, with your tips and hints ;)I'm using 31 archers to hold an emporium for 90 mn, and 62 to collect 9k.
