What is the point?

Been playing for 3 weeks and I am failing to see the point of this game. There is nothing to do?

  • Raid 10 cities a day to gather resources to build stuff
  • Wait forever for buildings/troops/agreements/scrolls to build
  • Wait forever to travel anywhere
  • No troops to kill after lvl 10 because everyone hides them
  • The boring persian thing that just kills off your troops for occasional rewards of stronger troops
  • Throw some troops at a pan or capital during an event
  • Play events that you win almost nothing from unless you are a high level player

Only purpose I see is to build a big city while playing low return lotteries that slow your progress. What am I missing that makes this game fun to play?

Guess I was expecting a strategy war game not a building sim. This game is extremely boring for new players, building has really slowed since Lvl 50. Took an hour to figure out PP and create a spreadsheet to max rewards. Emporium are fights not wars so get dull very fast. No one interested in warring over capitals or pans unless there is an Event on.

Game could have had potential if there was an end goal of a coalition conquering the world. And have 10 worlds in action at once with a new one opening when an old one gets conquered. Members of last 2 coalitions standing get rewards to carry in to new world. Would make people battle instead of waiting for events.

Not for me I guess, Enjoy

Nothing to do? How about your own list:

  • Raid 10 cities a day to gather resources to build stuff.
  • Build, build, and build! You have so many things to do - raid with Units, improve your City with Buildings, boost your Units and open new possibilities with Agreements!
  • Send Units to the destination and make some coffee. Then sit and watch how your rivals burn!
  • Your enemies often leave Offense outside. You need to stay alert to catch it!
  • Learn Persians. Discuss them on Forum, find someone who have mastered them, or master them on your own. let everyone jealous your army!
  • Defend your Capital and Pantheons! Your Coalition need you! Build necessary Units, send as much Defense as you can and watch your enemies get smashed!
  • Play for your interest, have fun, fight and conquer, and receive a nice bonus from Tournaments!

Alyona, the only problem with the game becoming dull, is its poorly-veiled one-sided support of the coiner minority and its fixation on monetization.

Lets be straightforward here....the overwhelming majority of us (non-coiners and occasional spenders) exist here only to patiently build troops month after month to act as "food" for the super coiner minority. We comprise the 80-90% of the game's body and make its existence possible, yet our interests hardly worry anyone, and you know that does get really dull after a while.

We don't "play" for "free" as it claims on the main page, we labor on Plarium for free... building our cannon fodder manually day by day and participating in tournaments to keep Plarium's coiner community (which needs someone to spend their bought troops on) alive.

We feed the coiners, they feed your company. Simple as that.

All aspects of the game are designed for heavy spenders to maintain interest. Us, the majority, not so much....there is a constant inflow of new "masses" through advertisement  so we peasants matter little.

Many of us  tried to find interest in studying the game's mechanics, but unfortunately gouging and persistent monetization policies generally hide these mechanics, which are dull and built entirely around profits anyway.

I fully understand that Sparta is a commercial product, but can't there be a capitalism with a human face?

The answer is always no...

...unfortunately.

I lost most interest when you decided to change Persians yet again.  There was no exploit, players just solved the puzzle and with that brought the ability to fight great battles with Persian rewards.  Build times are absolutely positively painstakingly slow and do not keep pace with the game in the slightest bit.

Actually there was an exploit. But it doesn't mean that you or any other player here used it. There were many few players who were using it (believe me, very few). We don't mind that you use 1-bar strategy. We just had to modify it to eliminate the vulnerability. Unfortunately, everyone using 1-Bar strategy was affected. But not much. The size of payouts is still the same.

They should have banned them and not only that, when you say very few, I have a suspicion they are in the hundreds

Not in hundreds, but I don't know the exact number. Also I don't know if they were banned or something. Our Support Team does such things, not Community Managers.

1 Raiding cities is more a chore then cool, watching raiding stats of most players, its very abysmall low. U need to invest alot of time in knowing the right cities, if your not near a botline your screwed. Raiding takes too much time once u have to look further and further.  Making it necessary to buy marauders. Its cool when u start the game but once u need more resources, nobody wants to spend half their day to raid cities. If units would return in acropolis then game would be more playable then needing to buy auto return. Unless u have too much free time, raiding takes up too large of your time unless u spend the coin to make it playable.

2 Building up your city is fun since thats why people play strategy game, however there is no fun once buildtime start to be very long. U can`t call it fun, its just the standard thing to do, u dont get enjoyment from it then the idea that your advancing.

3 Sending units to make rivals burn while making coffee. Sounds good in theory not in practive, 90% of cities have no troops outside, nothing to kill. U need to waste hours to find an enemy. There is a reason why people hate the kill x power daily quest. U waste more time trying to find troops to kill thats its not enjoyable. Most people who `` play`` log in and dont even build units alot, game is too boring and not rewarding.

4 Killing offense is not rewarding, u dont get any pvp points for them even when killing strong units. U only get points if u kill your own army. Which is another problem on its own. Destroying people doesnt reward as points received are only good when your units die too.

5 Persians...Not viable anymore

6 Defending capital, is fodder army for coiner army to score pvp points, nothing fun about a normal coalition getting destroyed by a few coiners with gigantic armies. Capitals only serve as way for coiners to waste some of their units as unlike smaller players who need to find opponents, coiners can just attack a capital.

7 The sad and most important fact is that for first months u don`t know the game and are ok with shitty rewards as u dont know better. After some months u have to wonder why your wasting your time building an army to get no rewards from tournaments.

The sad fact is that not playing the game and just build is the best way to get stronger. Which makes the game pointles, games are played to become stronger and grow. When your playing a tournament and get weaker from it, then why do the tournaments, itss pointless, so u should just build and build and build and never do anything as thats only way to gain power reliably.

So eventually people get bored and quit the game, its also the only reasonable solution to this question as there is absolutly no reason to play the game under this system. Only a fool spends much of his time on a game that doesnt supply any fun factor. There is no fun in wasting 200k army and getting 30k back as reward.

U can`t win in this game, only loose, all rewards are based on loosing troops without any real rewards attached to it.

ps; Most important there is no outplay potential , people enjoy games by playing it better or smarter then other people or spending more time then others to get advantage. Sadly there is no option to win by outplaying opponents, only coin is the deciding factor. A game is very boring if u can`t advance by playing good.

Most people come here expecting a mmo war strategy game, the sad fact is, there is no war, 1-2 fights is what people can do per week.

There is not strategic elements to outplay. If u get enjoyment to pointlessly waste money for no reason , thats the state of the game today.

Hi I have to agree with Wait forever for building troops. There are Stables and Barracks and Infantry camp and Armory and each one of them trains one unit. What I suggest since there are for example 2 pages of stables on the first page there is scout, Mounted Peltast, Macedonian cav, Agema horse, and on the second page there is Cathaginian horse, Equite, Legate, Venator. Allow 1 unit per page say I would like to train Mounted Peltast on the first page and legate on the second page and so on for all. That way we have faster process in training units and players don't wait for ever.

Thank you

It's when you attack the Position, but leave a few enemies alive until you decide to knock it down.

Some interesting views - never thought about non-coiners being cannon fodder for the coiners.

After a couple of months playing - starting to come to the conclusuion that alien.online might be right.

In many cases players balance the game themselves. They set rules, they unite, they do many things to take control over the in-game activities.
