Cannot repy to posts on the Forum without starting a new topic
This is of course ridiculous, since I have been critical of Plarium I wonder if that is causing it. Along with the myriad of other things that do not work in the game I guess I am not really that surprised. I do know one thing for sure, in all my life I have not experienced anything like the way this game is operated and functions. Now and then, everyone has had an experience of shoddy work and incompetence, but the sellers or makers, when they are made aware of the faulty product they do their very best to make things right.
But, not here in Sparta. It apparently has become a take it or leave it proposition. A couple of weeks ago I tried to reply to a post, could not then either, but it had to do with a poster simply asking for an explanation from Plarium for the concerns that he had. Another poster told him that basically his inquiry and the inquires of others were insignificant, a drop in the bucket, and that for the most part that the players who posted comments on the Forum were such a small percentage of all the players that play the game that they in no way represented the general population of players who might be upset with the functioning of the game. Now, how did this poster come to this conclusion? Well, he cited his Sykpe cohorts and a couple of other small groups of players who had no issues with how the game was functioning. That poster may have been sincere, but is this not the same thing he accused the original poster of doing, taking a small sample size and extrapolating the conclusions to include the whole population?
There is a large population of players out there that constitute what many here in USA call the Great Silent Majority. These are players who want to play a game for fun and entertainment, and do not want to spend the time or effort to complain and argue about the obvious shortcomings of this game. Because they do not do so certainly does not mean that they like what is going on at all. They are, I think, the kind of folks that when a business treats them badly, do not march into the place and demand satisfaction. They do not scream and yell at the representative of that business, no, they simply never do business with the offending entity again. So, no displays of aggression, no threats, they just quit dealing with the offender by going elsewhere.
There have been many threads I would have liked to comment on, but as I said, For some reason the game will not let me. While I could list a litany of simple actions in the game that are faulty, that was not my purpose here. But for me even messaging is an adventure, in order to answer player messages in the game I have to go on the map and click send message in order to message without a monster lag. To send a coalition message, I have to change browsers, to an old version of IE, because if I do not it would take an inordinate amount of time send even a short message.
I ask you, am I a part of a small critical group that only complains, and does not in any way voice the concerns of a larger silent majority, that for their own reasons choose not to post on the Forum? Or, could it be, that since we all are experiencing the game as it functions, I am simply trying to convince those responsible to make the game better and treat players fairly. Really, who wants to play a game that does not function correctly? I can tell you as Hegemon of a top 100 coalition that my sample size is slightly larger, the poster estimated between 25-50, than what the poster implied when he said most players are not upset with Plariums response to their concerns because his Skype buddies, or teamspeak friends are not complaining so therefore no problem must exist. I think one could look at the views of each topic or thread on the Forum and see that more read the posts here than post here.
So, until the issue with replying to posts in different threads is remedied, I will likely start more "new" topics. Remember, one can be critical yet civil and that all of us, at least those in my small sample size, really want the same thing, a game that functions as advertised and to be treated with consideration and respect. As a long-time player I have waited for promised fixes and changes for quite sometime with regard to some of the concerns raised by different posters. But, I also feel that it is not my job to come to play the game only to find I am really doing the work of someone whose job it really is to fix these issues. Nor, should any players have their concerns dismissed as their fault, or be required to do anything more than to log on an play the game. We are paying for handsomely for this and have an expectation of getting what we pay for. I think most people like to be helpful when they can and at their discretion, and no one likes to manipulated, coerced or forced into something they do not choose or desire to participate in.
To continually ask players to do tasks or make efforts other than playing is a very good example of the lack of consideration shown to players here. In the most simple language, we as players, are what our title implies, players, not fixers, not developers, programmers. What if you bought a new car and the salesman said, "oh yeah, great car here, but in order for it to start, you must walk around it clockwise two times, then counterclockwise two times, get in the back seat, crawl into the front seat, and she works wonderfully." How many would buy that car? I submit not many, if any. The game is no different than the car in the "you have to do this, then that" department.I have played this game for 1247 consecutive days and if I am in the small critical sample size, I have earned it by tolerating the way I have been treated in that time.
