Looking at the combine statistics it shows terrirty 0km2. What is considered territory and how do you get it?

Territory is the amount of space a combine controls, this normally gets awarded (mainly) from controlling MC's, however I believe that having strong players in an area can provide territory as well

In the achievements of alliance, there are several that I do not understand how to win them, one of them is the one of the territory, how I manage to seize of a certain portion of territory?
