Raid Digest (25.06.21)

How time flies! Two weeks passed far too quickly, and we prepared a fresh issue of RaidDigest for you. Brave Raiders, make yourself comfortable and read some news from all corners of Teleria.

Lately, the Shadowkin Faction has been a subject of many discussions, which is not surprising given that we had several in-game events connected exactly with these fearsome warriors, like 2x chance to get Shadowkin Accessories and 10x chance of summoning some of the best Shadowkin Void Champions. We want to shed some light on our plans about the release of the Shadowkin Faction Crypt. We’ll still be expanding this Faction with new Champions which will be arriving throughout several updates. That's why, the Shadowkin Crypt will not open in the next few months, at least. We’ll let you know as soon as we come close to its release.

Now, regarding MacOS issues that some players continue to face from time to time, namely, the game crashes on its launch. We ran several tests on the new game version 4.40, and can confirm that the game works as intended on MacOS - no crashes were detected. However, there is always a chance that the issue won’t vanish completely. That's why we ask you to report any irregularities right after the release 4.40, which is coming next week if all goes well.

Meanwhile, we ask you NOT to interrupt your battles - do not close the game in the middle of the fight. But even if this happens, there is a temporary solution: delete files in the folder "~/Library/Application Support/com.plarium.raidlegends/BattleJournals" to launch the game again. It helps get rid of crashes upon launching the game.

As you know, we have been launching CvC Tournaments every two weeks, for now,  which means that the next one is coming closer. It will be a regular CvC Tournament with regular Clan Milestone rewards. While we keep working on several improvements for this tournament, the coming one will be no different from the previous.

Let’s move to the next topic which was a subject of heated discussions some time ago - Classic Arena. Last month, we not only made some changes to matchmaking, namely tweaking the matchmaking in Bronze and Silver Tiers, but also added new segments to our server for smoother game performance. One of the side-effects of the segments addition was that low-level accounts appeared in almost all Arena Tiers. Please remember that it is only a temporary deviation - weaker accounts will be gradually demoted to lower Tiers. That’s why keep working on your Arena team, explore new tactics, strategies to be ready to encounter worthy opponents in the future!

And last but not least, we’ll be launching a new Fragment Summon Event in early July. You’ll be able to get a Legendary HP Champion from the Knights Revenant Faction in this one. They say red is their favorite color …

That’s it for today! Have a wonderful weekend ahead!

As long as money is involved it will never be fair competition...need to leave those weak teams in there so people can farm for the great hall...3vs3 is as big of a mistake as cvc...need to do the same thing in 3vs3 as you did in classic arena...it's just a waste of time and yell force people to play it to advance in the game...so I got to ask...when are you guys gonna get management that know what they are doing?

I am sure Plarium is looking to replace these money hungry scoundrels with f2p friendly executives looking to pad their resumes by bankrupting the company... lmao

Well,

First  thing,  @oracle the info around the shadowkin cript is something great.  I  have  finished  Faction  wars,  but  by  clan  is  strugling  with  them,  having  some  more  time  is  good  and  knowing  that  is  great.

The  other  stuff,  well,  continous  improvment

Seems that the one and only thing that Plarium fixed is going to be unfixed. Arena has become the most interesting part of the game.  Before that fix I used to do only the minimum necessary arena battles.  I was cherrypicking 6 battles(for second clan star)almost always won all 6 and that was it. It wasn't fun , it was an obligation. I didn't even care if I didn't win all of them. Now,  I am using all my refills and I would use more if I had although I lose more than I used to.  There is a huge diversity of opponents in all tiers, you can find from very good ones to bad ones and I really can't see why that is bad since one faces a different team each time(quite a change from facing the same comps all the time). I don't cherrypick anymore ,I go for it even if it seems hopeless just to try new things. It's not an obligation anymore , it's fun. It's the definition of fun.

But please change that because  seeing Plarium actually fixing something was a huge shock for most of us and things have to go back to normal.

There is a significant disconnect between Plarium view of arena and the playerbase. Players see arena as a  place to farm medals for the great hall and to complete missions for Arbiter.  It is a place you have to be successful to achieve results.  There is no inherent joy or excitement to the forum. It is a task.

Plarium sees it as the place for players to challenge each other, build their best teams and enjoy the challenge.

Clearly, you have to see the comments throughout this forum and Reddit and youtube videos and comments, so if you want to engage your users and create excitement for the game, it would seem imperative that you accept that arena is not what you want it to be. Thus, you either need to keep it farmable which is it is now and the player base is excited for because it isn't a hurdle or you need to disconnect it from the medals and make it truly PvP.  Not defense teams that are set and can't be played, but true PvP.  Then it could be that true challenging place to engage while there is another path for medals and missions.

The fact that you keep going through the cycle of making easy, then letting it get hard and then making it easy again, makes it clear that you see the frustration when players can't get their medals and missions.  So how is the answer to let it become a source of frustration again?  Communicating that the arena is going to get hard again without any path towards medals and missions causes the users to question whether management knows what they are doing. So, new users are screwed again?  Pages full of arbiters blocking the way to arbiter and we are just supposed to get better?  Just wait, 'bots' will come again?  Go like made for a month before they disappear?  How is this sustainable?  Clearly, there are bright people at Plarium or the company would not be so successful and there has to be some vision for how the arena works long-term, but this type of communication just stirs the hornets nest.

Everything well said and I mostly agree with you. But you do one mistake.

Plarium doesn't see arena as a place where players can challenge each other. They couldn't care less if we challenge each other. If they did care about that, they could make CvC battle-oriented with multiple battles for every member each day. Instead they made CvC  grind-oriented like grinding wasn't already enough.

Another solution was 4 tiers in platinum and leave the rest of the arena as it is. Problem solved. Plarium offers players the challenge and players can get the medals for the quests and the great hall.

Plarium sees arena as a way to force players to spend money  from the early levels. That's it , that's the real problem. That is why arena can't be fun , that is why arena has to be the most boring and tedious part of the game. That is why whenever arena becomes fun Plarium feels that irresistble need to change everything and make it impossible again.

Of course Plarium has to make money. Who disagrees with that? The problem is when, already from the early levels, they put the "knife on your neck" and tell you " you know what , you are doomed without spending tons of money" in a game that  themselves advertise as FREE!!!

I am one of those that have spend money in the game. Not a crazy amount but I have spend money. The result? Nothing. I am in no better position than someone who wouldn't spend momey at all(I also have a fully free account so I know). And the reason is that to make a difference, just  spending money is not enough, you must spend a CRAZY amount of money and Plarium tries to force you do that from the very early levels. It's either "spend and spend and spend again" or "get the hell out of here". That is the REAL PROBLEM.

"One of the side-effects of the segments addition was that low-level accounts appeared in almost all Arena Tiers. Please remember that it is only a temporary deviation - weaker accounts will be gradually demoted to lower Tiers. "

NOOOOOOoooooooo! That was the only thing keeping me at all interested in the Arena! Well, okay, it got ridiculous sometimes with INCREDIBLY weak teams showing up, but the system is still giving me almost NO other teams I can beat! Even a bunch of them that seemed by power and ranking to be easily beatable have STOMPED my team! Now I keep getting lists with teams with power rankings 2 or 3 times greater than mine to begin with!

BTW, can we please be allowed to buy just 4 and 5 star chickens, or have more opportunities to get them that don't require being way up on events or tourneys? I'm stuck with lots of 50s and 40s and I'm not spending a bunch of money for packs that include things I don't want, like XP boosts and Arena refills. BLEAGH!

The darn XP boosts have pushed me too early into the Doom Tower and apparently also I'm supposed to fight in the arena with guys who've bought fancy artifact sets and leveled them up to all 16s.

Hardly know why I'm playing this stupid "game" anymore. Started 'cause it was free, got a kick out of all the rewards and progress steps, but about level 40 (which I now think was premature due to the aforementioned XP boosts) I started running into walls. Clan mates tell me to be patient. Not having to be patient was probably the one thing I liked about this. Everything is basically the same, over and over and over, there's no real exploration, no RP, no real multiplayer team-ups or even PvP, hardly anything that could be called strategy, and what little of that there is can be done away with for those who want to throw money at it. I've experimented with team composition but apparently what really matters is having level 60 legendaries with lvl 16 artifacts.

The only thing the game has going for it (besides those lush graphics of sexy females, and some of those would only appeal to necrophiliacs) is that you can run most of it on auto and it gives you little virtual rewards. Get to a certain point and you either spend a bunch of money or get nothing but the same old rewards that quickly get boring and meaningless.

Of course, you've got people spending INSANE amounts of money to get beyond that, so why listen to someone who just throws a few bucks your way now and then? Oh, maybe you would like to keep more of us around to throw to those whales, pretty much the way the game builds champions by feeding them other champions.

First, let me say that I enjoy the game. I enjoy it enough that I spend some money to get at higher levels of the aspects of the game that I enjoy. I would love to continue my Doom Tower progression. In order to do that progression, I must needs spend time in arena in order to  get my Great Hall levelled to enjoy the boosts to power provided by said feature. The thing is...I'm not a pvp'er. I'm not interested in pvp. I suck at it because I'm not interested in it. I do it because that is what is required in order to progress in Doom Tower. That's just a fact, not a complaint.

Now, I've been informed that the speed at which I can level my Great Hall is being tied more tightly to my ability to play an area of the game I'm not particularly interested in investing time/money in. I don't want a PvP Vogoth and a PvE Vogoth. I build my heroes for PvE with the intent to play them there. If that gets me enough wins to level my GH, great! If not, then there's no reason for me to spend money anymore to speed up my progress. Will I still play? Most definitely because I enjoy most other aspects of the game! But my incentive to facilitate my progress monetarily is greatly reduced. That's not a bad thing at all from my perspective. More money to spend on other interests. :P

The thing is though that the more sustainable model is a game which is friendly for f2p and low spenders.  Look at Vegas.  If any casino there was run like Plarium, they'd be out of business in a year.   Going for the quick buck now is actually a pretty bad move IF you care about long-term profitablity.

This game is unplayable for new players with arena the way it was.  If you change it back, you are going to kill the game.  You cannot subsist on a dwindling pool of existing players.  Expand the arena by 300% and keep bronze, silver, and gold at the very bottom 1/3 where new players can learn the game, farm medals, and complete progress missions in the order the game designers originally intended.  I told everyone who asked not to play the game because of the arena.  I was about to tell them it is worthwhile to give it a shot, but heck no if you are planning on going back to that unplayable hellscape where you either neuter your account and only play arena OR you play the rest of the game without any benifits from the great hall or from the arena but you can at least pull for new players and do faction wars.
