Simple question, but not a simple answer.

I see so many chat messages basically saying "I need a clan". 

Other than the obvious, social and clan bosses, do you really NEED to join a clan ?

The only reason I'd join a clan currently, would be to be able to get past the mission progression "Earn 3 Stars in one day for Clan Activity".

Beyond that one there's only one other clan related mission visible to me currently. Everything else I have already met requirements for or can easily.

I'd be interested to hear others thoughts.
