I have done all of that just like last time. I double checked that my laptop was within operating parameters as well. As I've said before, this is not the first time this has happened. My thing is, if it is a known issue, there should be a simple fix. All I can do is continue to go on and hope that it straightens itself out. If not, I won't be playing for long. It's a shame because I like the game. I like fishing too. But I'm not going to do it if my hands are tied.
version 22H2 (OS build 19045.5965)
Just wanted to double check this because a recent update did affect Windows 10 users but yours should be good enough.
Have you opened a support ticket by any chance? Couldn't hurt to ask them.
In the meantime I'd make sure Windows, net framework are updated as much as they can be too.
Everything is up to date. I run updates daily. I have not submitted a ticketfor this instance. Like I've stated before, this has happened before. I submitted tickets for those instances and received 1 response the first time. Asking the same questions you did, with no satisfaction. The second instance I didn't even get a response. So what's the use? The issue is still there and it seems like nothing will be done to, either fix it, or compensate accordingly.

Fair enough.
I'd try one more time with support because perhaps they can see something from your end from a tech standpoint.
What makes it even worse, is, when it happens, the only way out of the black screen is to shut down and restart the game. I have some personal choice words about this game but I am refraining from putting them in here. One other time I referred to it as getting the shaft and had my comment edited for "vulgarity". I laughed at that one till I almost wet myself. If they only knew what I was really wanting to say... but I digress.
Ok. Here's a new one. In my opinion, it is not my system that is the problem. Here is my reason. Out of curiosity, I logged into the game on a newer laptop that is running windows 11. I had hoped to maybe be able to collect my tournament prizes. Wrong! I still cannot open events on that account. Before you say it, hear me out. The newer laptop, has my main account on it and I have no issues at all while playing it. Only on my "new" account do I have these issues. It acts as if I have to reach a certain level before these thing kick in. If that's the case, why am I allowed to participate in them? Thoughts?

this all does sound in line with issues new accounts face around and post novice tournament, actually.
these have been mentioned to support in the past, too.
