Do you all think it's worth it to pay gems for energy? I like to play more than 10 minutes every two hours, but it seems wasteful sometimes. I don't know if trading gems for other things would be a better payoff.

Yes, on certain conditions:
1. Max the upgrades on your gem mine and sparring pit first: those are long-term investments that will eventually save you a ton.
2. Grind classic arena as much as possible, use gems to buy refills, until your great hall bonuses are maxed. Again, long term investment.
3. be level 60+, to have your energy pool at the maximum of 130
4. After that, energy refills are the only thing worth using gems on. If you're extra smart, do all your energy potion buying during cvc, the only time you earn any points for spending gems.
