I am not a fan of "blocking ranking", but those players who do those usually block very low level blocks that are completely worthless as raiding targets, because that lowers the risk of somebody breaking their blocks. Those havens worth raiding are blocked precisely so that they wouldn't be raided.
Mass blocking has its purpose from Plarium's point of view: there are also liberation quests and medals. Combine these with blocking incentive, and you get people fighting (which spells sweet, sweet money).ozzie_brian said:
When will the powers that be realize that the "mickey mouse" ranking of having the most blockades, spoils the game for most players. It is a hollow and fairly useless thing which leads to some players blockading many many havens and in so doing they take away the opportunity for raiding and blockading by lower ranked players. It spoils the game for the average player and makes very little sense. You can only collect resources from three havens so why not limit blockades to three and open up the game. You can obviously leave in ranking for most resources being collected.
I do the mickey mouse terrible 10. I only block level twos who be not active, with one Bonnie. Since the in-actives are worthless as Crowbar wrote, what is the problem?

The reward for it talks for itself it's not ruining the game and those that cont to keep up and try to compete and stay within the top 10 work hrs to do just that.. used to be one of them players.. just don't have the time any more
That's what the parrots are for. Contact the blocker and ask nicely to be allowed to raid. Some won't allow it, of course, but many are actually nice people.
Besides, if I remember right, breaking blocks has no effect on their score if done in the week after it was blocked. So, with some cooperation and good timing, they lose nothing and you get your raids.
In short: if you can't fight 'em, use diplomacy. The big problem with blockading is that many do not understand that ALL blocks need to be recalled every Monday, then find new blocks or wait a week and do it all again. (to reset the negative block points)
If you check the top blockers you will see that most of their blocks are obsolete and do not contribute to the current week.
Too many noobs in this game (or idiots begging for hero worship who love to see their name in Pirates of Legend, all time)
1.3 million in blockade points and almost all are worthless
Thankfully, plarium have removed the option to blockade/siege from their new games, so hopefully they will remove them from all games

You called the habit of blockading multitudes of havens as an idiots way of begging for hero worship. I believe it is more of an animal behavior thing, akin to a dog marking his territory by p!$$!ng on everything he can.

But, in my opinion, it's just laziness. It's boring to release all those blocks if you have a few that you want to keep (so you cannot use "Recall Units"). It's also boring to block, but you get points and rewards for that. Releasing those blocks? Nah, just boring, with no rewards, but well worth to someone else.
That's why a cooperation with a small-time raider and/or liberator would be welcome, which is how I ditched my 300 or so mini-blocks years ago: I offered some guy who was chasing the liberation medal to liberate them.
Since we're on the topic of blockades, what about a new tournament to liberate havens. That should help clear the map of old blocks and should generate interest since it would be something new. Or would that be asking too much from the developers?Actually, we had an idea to make weekly Rankings for Liberation. But it's just an idea for now, it hasn't been approved yet :)
