Operating under blocks

I consider totally unfair ...and also illogical that...as long as someone is blocked...he can send FS...scouts...raids and anything that can come out of heaven to harass the other participants in the game...while at the same time being protected by the one who blocks them...thus making it almost impossible for the attacked/harassed to react correctly 

Technically ...a blockade should stop anything to come out from and also go into an island....so why this game doesn't try at least to copy the reality?

This has been raised many times over the years and, as a fellow player, I agree. It's frustrating, to say the least.

You noticed - and even named it - correctly: a "blockade" is really "protection", and that's what many of us are sometimes calling it. You get to reduce their production of gold or lumber (not both) by 25%, which they easily make up for with a raid or two per day, and that's it. You're getting hit instead of them, so you're really protecting them, and quite cheaply (from their perspective).

So, if you have an enemy, don't block them. Raid them or FS them frequently. It won't do you much good if they have any gray cells and keep turtled, but that's literally all you can do.

As for why, I think the official explanation when it was first raised was to avoid strong players bullying smaller ones into leaving the game (or for any other purpose). And I must say see the argument there, as having the effective blocking mechanism would definitely be abused (and Plarium, obviously, doesn't want to lose customers).

Could it be handled better? Maybe put some pressure on the blocker (by auto-disbanding block every few days or something) or letting other people choose if they want to hit the blockade or the haven itself? Sure, but Plarium always liked simple solutions and even more so keeping the ones they already have.

There is no official info, but most of us are under the impression that all development of this game has ceased many years ago (I think that Brawls were the last thing added to it), and all changes to this were refused even when the game was being activelly worked on. So, we can chat about it, but don't expect anything to change now.

What's interesting is that the bullying is reversed now...the small players protected by blocks...often of frendly BHs...are raiding ..scouting and FSing all over...understood your explanation CB...so we don't have just to keep up the flag LOL

On the other hand...this probably should be another topic...all the old players finished all the possible upgrades...including the Alchemist's ...I guess...when we may expect to some new upgrades to do...because all the ugrade & discovery challenges are useless for us since long time ago :((

It is. Usually, it's worth parroting the blocker. You'll frequently get "just hit it" reply. If you do, send a simple liberation (to hit the block) and then a raid (to hit the haven beneath).

well...good ideeas...but anyway...this status of BLOCKED must be somehow brought a little closer to the reality...same as....which is funny again...while we have that full protection...we are able to scout...send reinf and do prizes...my opinion is that we shouln't be able to anything under that protection...either all or nothing at all....same as the re-new protection for be back after a while....they can do anything....you can't do anything against them...and so far...many things I get to be fixed to have a game as more as possible to the reality...not as an emergency ...but just if sometimes will be possible 4 sure :)

Don't know what more to tell you: Plarium stopped changing things years ago, and refused to change blocks mechanics even while the game was being actively developed. We can talk about what should be, but it never will be. 🤷‍♂️

As for realism, you can send a suicidal exploding (Fire)ship in 1-3 minutes across the map, breaking the speed of sound by 10 times or more and hitting buildings on the ground. You can also use a whirlpool to relocate an island (you can even control where to go). You are a Pirate who can easily commandeer waaay over 100k ships. You have ground troops (Pirates, most of Mercs) that sail without needing ships, some being faster than some of the ships. If you have a chart, your ships' remaining travel time is in half, which can be up to 12h savings, but also as little as just a few seconds - for the same map.

I don't think that realism was the top priority when they made the game. Except the hospitals' finance model that bankrupts you. That's a very realisticly gamified modern USA system. 😁
