ability to export and import hangars

I concede upfront that this might be considered a "rich" person's problem :-).

Being able to set up three squads in a hangar is great, but over the course of playing this game (thanks especially to ECRs) I now have a lot of gear. Apart from my usual play involving three squads I sometimes want to try something temporarily and then come back to my main hangar. This is tedious to do and often involves manually setting up a squad, and then manually restoring the previous one.

Can we have an option to just export the hangar to a data file and then import it whenever we want? Then I can switch between main, experimental or other squads/hangars somewhat more easily.

The issue is even more pronounced in hangar showdown where we are limited to one squad.

Thanks :-).

that would actually be amazing.. i dont have enough of 3 hangars and i understand why we cant have 20, but exporting importing would actually solve it amazingly well..

I vote my meaningless minion voice to YES

If i have sniper missions i would want to just load my sniper setup, instead of selecting everything from scratch.. and then go back to normal without trying to remember what i had

That's a really good suggestion! Definitely an upvote from me!

😅Sounds good. I guess that's somewhat similar to presets? Would pass that onto the team for consideration!

Thanks, but just to be safe I'll clarify since your comment gives me the impression you might have misunderstood a tiny bit. I'm not suggesting an alternative to squad presets. Squad presets remain exactly the same. I'm suggesting that you give the ability to save squad presets to disk, just like saving a document, and then load them from disk, just like opening a document.

So, as an example, imagine the following workflow:

1. I create my hangar as normal.

2. I tap the squad presets button.

3. Two new icons are present - one to save, and one to load.

4. Pressing the "save" icon should open a file-save dialog. I can select a name like "my_ffa_squad.preset".

5. Next I change the mechs in my squad and after some time want to restore the previous one.

6. I press the "load" button which displays a file-open dialog, using which I find the file I had saved earlier ("my_ffa_squad.preset").

7. Opening that file should replace my current squad preset with whatever was saved in that file (my previous squad).

Hope that makes sense.

It's a great idea. Instead of just giving us more hangars and investing into more data storage on Plarium's side,  create a client side dataset for us to make copies of. Unfortunately, this will probably not happen because it opens up a way for data manipulation. Also, being more of a mobile game, data structure might not translate properly between different platforms. Correct me if I'm wrong, but, Plarium Play itself is more or less just an emulator like Blue Stacks from the way the game is handled.

Yeah, it does. Though I think more presets would be more "doable", but I'd pass that on as well.

Preventing data manipulation for something like this should be very simple. The file just needs to mention the gear. If you don't have that gear or if there is a mismatch in energy and capacity or you mention one item multiple times (basic checks and balances), it should fail. And if it isn't compatible across platforms I wouldn't really care, though if they use a text based format like json I also don't see why there would be a compatibility problem at all.

I agree with your prediction that it "will probably not happen", but not for the reasons you mentioned. My reason is that it's just not talked about enough so it's unlikely to make the cut in their prioritization list.

I would be happy with a "Reset All" option where mechs, pilots, mods, implants, etc. are placed back into inventory instead of staying equipped for a hangar preset.

That's possible, and I would be happy with that, but the reason for suggesting export/import is that it would need the least change in the current UI.. you wouldn't have to think very hard about the best experience needed to accommodate more presets.

Also, let's say Plarium decides that the new number is 5. What happens if someone feels they needed more? Would you give a way to create an arbitrary number of presets? (That has its own problems.) Or you could implement the export/import idea and not have to worry about what the upper limit should be at all. The game would maintain an upper limit of 3, and it would be up to users how many files they want to create so in practice it would feel like (to them) that there is no upper limit.

I would be happy either way as I said, just thought I'd clarify why I asked for export/import instead of just "more presets" :-).

Yeah valid feedback, independent of the export/import idea.

doesn't feel like you understand what is more doable.. honestly dont really mean anything bad with it.. although who knows maybe it's really a rocket science for the devs comparing to existing presets.
