Im only playing 5-6 months so I have zero at 100% and I think I will not have 100% for few years or ever at all, purely because my goal is a-coins and they stop at about 85%.. Then I will probably be cursing everything when trying to achieve autocanons/thermal lances goals as I will NOT SP DROP I refuse to.. if I do SP drop then it will be all mechs, but in fair manner.. But thats a debate for the future me.. For now it makes no sense to get 100%, it makes sense to take new mech and get it to 250 a-coins reward.. if I have right weapons for it.. As for example I love Aegis but I dont play it in normal games, only in tournament, normal games are for mech achievements for me, so I dont use it as I don't have the Carbines, I dont like guided weapons (now with everyone fully moded they cant kill anything and I dont have geminis and savants), and mortars is an option only for special mortar missions.. in which case I would use Paragon (higher energy, more power), Stalker or Orion.. something that could give me damage boost. In short these mech achievements are probably my issue, as I use some crap that makes no sense and go play and my ranking doesnt grow.. but then im not sure if i care that much to finish 3rd or 4th.. I still think, even though I'm not going to be a 100% achiever, I am considering myself to be good at it...
Yeah, that sounds like an entirely reasonable strategy.
For no good reason in particular I like the feeling of hitting 100%, then I can "retire" that mech.
i feel like i would love to retire some mechs too, but it still feels similar to me when i hit last a-coin reward.. i think i would be happier at 100% too, but i just need a-coins too much :))
I also feel i would be happier if i was free from these missions and could just use whatever mechs and weapons i want, but im trapped into missions.
But then on the other hand that is a bit of initiative and goals to play, and its decided for me what to choose as weapons and mechs, so no fighting with my own self with decisions..
I still think they need to replace stupid autocanons and thermal lances into something like assault weapons and beam weapons.. its in a way a good strategy to make you try something new.. but i really dont know.. some mechs just have very stupid missions where i can barely pick anything i like.. for example i think bastion is the worst for me, best i could come up to enjoy it was arc torrent weapon in one hand and compound beam in the other.. alternatives are carbines which i dont have, stasis beam kills.. seriously? on orion its a bit more realistic, withour damage modifier there is like no chance.. so well i use missle racks 6 now.. proper beasts.. joking.. barely can kill anything but task is for damage so it still works..
Feel sorry for my teammates when they get an idiot like me in their team, and proper hate gemini/sniper enemies that i can barely do anything about if im forced to use some sort of arc torrent, repeaters, ember guns.. and kill enemies from behind with them or something..
Currently playing missions for assault weapons >50m and guess what? I have reavers, i love them, i use them lots in tournaments, hangar showdowns, they are proper killers, but how many did I kill out of 25 over the period of 2 days? ZERO.. wth are there missions for something you barely ever do... !?moan moan moaning me. beep beep..
@Iceman First Blood is a pain, especially with a slow bot. Using Artillery helps, but only on specific maps.
I gave up on Arachnos and Aegis. Arachnos because the task is so specific and the weapon is so weak. Aegis is almost as bad because at my level nobody is using the weapons anymore.
On the upside, some tasks force you to hone your skill level. Paragon kills with Autocannons was fun. I'm sure several opponents were thinking, "He killed me. With a sword!"
At any rate, I'm having fun without chasing the meta or worrying about my win/loss metric of success.
its a pity for me in all this is some real players in my team may take game more seriously and these missions are just so weird sometimes.. its like "hello, today you are going to eat soup using car tyres, who is the first to have a go?"
Its cool in one way but not very cool at all in another way.. if you are forced to flee the enemy with your assault weapon just to get the >50m etc etc.. its like a mission where you would need to jump 2 times forward, one time back and only then make a kill
But in short, clarly they just want you to buy overdrivers etc
@Papa I play solo. The vast majority of the matches only involve one human player and four AI teammates on each side, unless it's a tournament match. There's no real reason to quit a match while chasing individual bot tasks anyway. I'm not going to ditch a match because I didn't happen to get first blood or whatever. There's always the next match to try again. 5x5 gives you double the chance to make progress.
Since win/loss % is controlled by the MM, worrying about that aspect of the game is truly pointless. Yeah, I agree some of the individual tasks are randomly absurd, but that's what we're stuck with.
