A comprehensive list of my ideas for mech arena
So I've got a ton of ideas for mech arena and if I were to share them all in individual threads I'd be making a lot of them. And honestly I'm probably going to quit even with the better tournament rewards. Because it's still probably got awful scaling unless up to 50% more is addative and not multiplicative which I doubt it. And because the matches are completely rigged and our CM Velocity told us a lie that it isn't when the evidence is clearly there and she and our mod nightfury have been silent on the issue since, support refuses to acknowledge the issue using the same generic terms for when you get matched up against opponents that have you too outgunned about "we understand the matchmaking can sometimes be challenging [blah blah blah]", and the issue is ongoing. All of that pisses me off. Having the game determine the outcome of the matches. Having you lying to me about it. Having support minimize the issue as the matchmaking being "challenging". I've told all of you multiple times that pisses me off. And yet you keep doing it. This shit feels like "rage bait - the game". And I'm getting really tired of it. I didn't sign up to be rage baited.
And don't ban me for reason of "publically accusing staff of lying". What else am I supposed to call it? ARE YOU TELLING ME THE EVIDENCE I SEE IN FRONT OF MY EYES IS LYING TO ME AND NOT YOU?! Or do you not want any staff to be spotlighted because it's an official statement. I'm sorry but that makes the official statement a lie. That makes you a team of liars and anyone who perpetuates the official statement a liar. You say I'm allowed to disagree and criticize. This is my disagreement. This is my criticism. I disagree with being lied to. I feel like you're lying to me and what's more you're telling me that my eyes are lying to me. But I guess only certain criticisms are allowed. You know what that's called? Censorship. And I know you got agressive in that one thread and even a little here. I can tone that down and I've toned it down here as to not be over-aggressive. But I'm simply trying to express my anger and shock that you would try and tell me that my eyes are lying to me. How do you know that the matches aren't rigged, Velocity? Do you believe the official statement? Do you actually play this game? How much do you play? What's your win rate? Have you seen the code? What makes the official statement more believable than the evidence I've presented? Maybe the devs want to call it all coincidence. But I'll have matches where the matchmaking time doesn't even take the max 30 seconds but I still get put in games with bots that are basically known to influence matches whether devs want to say it's intentional or not.
I know none of that was ideas, but I just had to get that out there. Anyways. A lot of these ideas are going to be improvements. Some of them are going to be for new mechs and weapons. And one of them is for an all buffs rebalance wave.
--------------------
To start I've got a list of improvements I'd like to see in mech arena. In no particular order: Stop the game from pre-determining the outcomes of matches. Make all implants in the market available for in game resources. Make all mechs and weapons available for in game resources in gear hub. Remove combat point limit. Stop using mech stars as the baseline for matchmaking in hangar showdown. Give mechs and weapons their real power ratings. Add more lower grade mechs. Add multi-perspective match replays for matches in the battle log. And remove gambling.
Firstly, stop making the game determine the outcome of matches. Disproportionate power differences between individual players in most battles. More powerful gear given to bots on one side versus the other. One side's bots being able to carry while bots on the other side wander aimlessly and into enemy mech's fire and dance and spin around and do nothing while enemy mechs invade the spawn. All bots, or all but one bots, on one side generally underperforming versus the worst performing bot on the other side. This is all recurring problems which take the outcome of the match out of the hands of players and their teams and put it in the game's hands. So often the game is determining the outcome of the match. These issues used to occur independently, and you would always experience one of these. Once you caught onto one you would be screwed another way. But it all happens at once now. I refuse to believe this is a coincidence. Unless your dev team is just inept. Like maybe you don't have any experienced/veteran coders on the team working on the matchmaking and/or AI. But I think it's more likely that it's deliberate. We'd never been without one of these issues until after I called out the cycle, and then suddenly I start experiencing them all at once and I complained pointing that out. I got decent, non-screwy matchmaking for a month now it's back to experiencing every way for plarium to fix the matches at once. Though maybe I'm wrong about that, and maybe I'm right that your whole team is inept. Either way I want it to stop.
Next, make all implants in the market available for in game currency. Back before the implant market was made I complained that implants are pay to win because to get the implants you wanted you had to be lucky with the implant lottery and pay. It's still true for the legendary versions of implants on legendary mechs. I don't remember saying make all implants but legendary implants for legendary items obtainable in a shop, did I? No I said make all of them available in a shop for players to obtain with in game resources. There's a daily cycle of legendary implants from the shop shop but that only makes the problem less bad. The implants you get are supposedly tailored towards your account but that means you have to use an item if you wanna be more likely to get implants for it and that doesn't even guarantee you get the implants you want. And maybe it's under-level or your implants are insufficient or both so you can't really use it unless you SP cheated. It would be easier if they were just all available in the market for in game resources. Why are they not yet?
Also like I said, make all mechs and weapons available for in game currency in the gear hub. All of them and all subsequently released mechs and weapons be available in gear hub for in game resources upon release. You already release these mechs and weapons with a crate rush which puts them at a much discounted price for in game resources comparatively to their gear hub price and you get other goodies from the crate rushes. And you already repeat crate rushes for new gear. So I don't see why not just make it available in gear hub for in game resources upon release, or just after the first crate rush is over. That way players would have the option to buy in gear hub or wait for a crate rush when they can get items at a discounted amount of in game resources with the other goodies. Or whatever you replace crate rushes with if you follow my suggestion to remove gambling.
Additionally the combat popint limit needs to go. I already made a thread about this so I'll keep it short. Dedicated grinders need a reward to keep grinding. Limited rewards for playing gets in the way of that. There needs to be a way for dedicated grinders to keep getting rewarded. This is the best way to do it IMO. And give a tiny amount of every resource as battle rewards.
Also already had a thread about this but give mechs and weapons their real power ratings. I'd like to explain more why I think you should do this. You did the mech and weapons grade update. At that time you had the matchmaking separate players based on your highest mech and weapon rank and grade plus or minus one. That was alright then. But then you added the gear hub. In gear hub you could unlock legendary weapons in the same tier as rare mechs. Granted it's 6 energy legendary weapons but it's still legendary. So then you have these 3 star rare mechs and 5 star legendary weapons in the same gear hub tier but if you want to use them together the matchmaker thinks "hey you have legendary gear you should be able to go against legendary gear". And on paper right a 5 star legendary weapon should be able to take on a 3 star legendary mech. The problem is these players can also use 5 star legendary weapons and even if they weren't using those a legendary mech ability has the potential to be so much stronger. Example: Dreadnaught pre-nerf at rank 3 could 1 shot any rank 3 rare mech with its ability. And if it killed an opponent with its ability then its ability would get a much shorter cooldown and it would gain a speed boost. Vortex at rank 3 can kill rare mechs using its ability once thanks to doing continuous damage. Unlike dreadnaught it's vulnerable to system crash because its ability range is shorter but if there's no guardian on the field the rank 3 rare mechs are kind of screwed. New players can use promo codes, but then they have to know about the promo codes. They can get vortex rank 3 with promo codes and be matched against people who don't know about the promo codes and have an unfair advantage. You could solve this by NERFing vortex at rank 3 and subsequently every mech that benefits too much from its legendary status, or you could simplify the matchmaking system to discount grades and ranks entirely and use simple power ratings while simultaneously giving mechs and weapons power ratings more accurate to their actual power as opposed to being accurate to their power within their grade. Since gear hub has been added you've given price reductions to all mechs and weapons from common to epic. Power ratings remain unchanged since the mech and weapon grade update while most everything else has so the current power ratings and matchmaking system are really outdated compared to the rest of the game. I imagine this is the root of a lot of matchmaking problems. So it's not just real power ratings, I want added it's up to date power ratings and a simplified matchmaking system. This an opinion and a want echoed by much of the community by my observation and doesn't appear to have any detractors, so I imagine a change like this would be very positively received. And it would just be more realistic. Cause currently Lancer at max has stats similar to a lacewing at rank 4 but has a power rating more similar to max lacewing. That's not realistic.
Something else I think would be fairly well received is more lower grade mechs. If you switch to a power system that gives realistic power ratings lower grade mechs can become great options for certain power levels.
