Podguns and vipers are way different. You get more distance with a podgun but it takes awhile fir the pods to activate. With the aegis' shield I imagine viper for closer combat and killing enemies before they can bretch the shield. I,m not sure about about panther. Why don't you try each combination and go with whatever works for you.
