Whenever I try to open the server on Discord a message "Something odd is going on. We have to verify you by sending a verification mail.". It then asks for email address AND PASSWORD. Why do you need password for sending a mail?

Also, you can contact the Discord support team or google the possible answers to your question.
Giving your phone no. is a lot safer than giving away your PASSWORD to them
