Q1: I've got a 4 star 14vrpg and looking to somehow get 150 kills to
complete the event. It's proving quite difficult and I'm not going to
spend acoins to upgrade it.
A: Not that difficult if you setup your squad correctly (quicker then
30 MVPs with mech or single weapon). Upgrading just to complite mission
is stupid - you spend more then you gain.

Q2: How exactly does SP dropping work? If I reduce my hanger to 3k
with only 2 mechs, does that mean I'll be matched against 3k sp bots?
Which in turn makes it easier to get kills with my low ranked vrpg?
A: If you do that you will be punished with 2-3x times stronger enemies. Don't go into battle with empty slots.

Q3: Otherwise should I fill my hanger to have 5 mechs but make sure 4
of them are common and low sp? Then have one maxed panthar with the
vrpg?
A: Again. If you do thet you will be punished with 2-3x times stronger enemies.

Q4: Even when I drop my hanger to 3k sp I'm being put up with 7k players so not sure this is the way to do it.
A: You are being punished.

Q5a: 150 kills is a bit of a crazy task to try complete,
A: Not realy. You can get around 20 kills per match.

Q5b: which is probably why Plarium put it there to try make you spend acoins to upgrade it.
A: YES. They do that all the time.

And now advice:
1. Empty all your slots.
2. Pick mech and weapon you want to use (main).
3. Fill other slots with mechs that are 1 star lower then your main
mech and armed them with weapons that use all or almost all their
energy. Thouse weapons should be weaker then your main weapon but can't
be too weak.
4. Experiment to get best results.
