Why FFA is one of the worst game modes in Brawlhalla, and ways to solve issues it may have.

Upon acquiring the new steam achievements, I have been playing FFA in excess to get the 500 and 1000 KO achievements. What I have deducted is that the game mode is in dire need of some improvements. The most problematic ones I have discovered have been:

FFA? more like FFN.

The ability to team, and suicide to a teammate CONSTANTLY with no punishment whatsoever and causing a waste of time for the other two players actually trying to compete and have fun is a MAJOR flaw in the game mode. Having this as an option is ridiculously problematic because the more people do it, the more other people will notice and do it themselves to troll, taking away from the Brawlhalla experience.

Potential Solutions

A possible solution to this would be you will get one point from killing the person two times in a row rather than the usual two, and then after x amount of times killing the same person after that the number is reduced to zero until someone else is killed. This may not stop the feeding completely, but it will surely slow it down by quite a bit, considering in 30 seconds you and a buddy can win the game without trying in the game's current state https://19216801.onl/  https://192168ll.link/  .

The Player Base.

This one pretty much goes without saying, but the community in FFA is pretty terrible considering its the first and most easily accessible game mode. This has been a problem since the beginning of when Brawlhalla started to gain a larger player base, and almost nothing has been done to improve the BM and salt that could easily be avoided with simple chat systems.

Potential Solutions

Reporting players does do stuff people and you should be reporting them, but my main point here is that the chat system could use improvements in catching BM players early-on instead of after 50-100 reports, since extremely few players take the time to report, at least in my friend group. What I mean by this is something that takes out key phrases (I believe the idea of a system similar to overwatch's has been thrown around the community a lot) or maybe a system that lets a player personally input key phrases they don't want to see (for example "ez" "spammer" etc... Sure, you can just turn the chat off completely, but there are still SOME nice people to make friends with, and who wants to miss out on new friends?

It is pretty much a game of randomness above anything else, skill or otherwise.

This gives the impression to most new players that spamming is the most efficient way to win a game. Things can be done to fix this, such as map choices being a little less chaotic and stupid.

Potential Solutions

A map system that involves players choosing from their favorite maps to least favorite maps and queueing with others of similar tastes is the best thing I came up with. This could be effective for every game mode, come to think of it.)

• The implementation of dash has promoted this sig-heavy play style MASSIVELY as well because of limiting I-frames, as some will know. The best way to fix this will have to be a change with dash (I know that not explaining many specific changes to dash is stupid of me, complaining and not issuing a suggestion to solve the complaint, but every idea I have had has been put to shit by other players. The only suggestion that most people don't swear at me for is to split the game into two categories, casual play and more competitive (M-dodge and Dash), with FFA being casual and everything else having dash. This will hush up the 60% of the player base who don't feel like adapting and maybe save the damn steam reviews of the game from going down.

There is an argument to be made that the randomness factor makes the game more fun, but in my opinion if there was a more prevalent basis of skill a player would feel more as if they "earned" the win, causing a stronger liking to the game and creating more determination to play it, again, increasing the player base and overall appeal to the game.

In Conclusion

BMG, if you are going to make FFA the most prominent, "RECOMMENDED" game mode, fix it up as it has not changed in what I think is literally a year now. Steps can be taken early on in player's first impressions of the game to mold play styles and tactics to be a more fun game for other new players, ultimately resulting in a better community by far, not to mention a drastic rise in player base. Especially with PS4 being introduced, FFA needs a change.

Let me know what you think in the comments down below, struggles you may have with FFA, or maybe the community in general, and ways to improve it. I spent a lot of time on this post and would appreciate discussion :D
