Clans were exciting, but when I opened them up I was dissatisfied. Unlike clash Royale or other games, you cannot give anything to clan members. Instead you just chat, which can be done with just friends. This is frustrating because a lot of times your friend may have something you need, and you may have something he needs. Giving would allow clans to be sort of like a trading hub.
Right now, there's nothing monetized in clans, so they couldn't care less whether it's an actually good feature or not. They just put it in now to please the people that have been asking for clans for months while they work out a way to money from it.
They said in the last dev vlog clans would be bare bones at first. There should be more features that make it into the game with time.

They did find a way to monetize it. If you look into the clan squad power ranking, this ranking is based on ALL the items in your inventory, not just the gear you use in hangar. What's this mean? That to get into the "big name" clans, they are going to likely require the highest clan squad power you can get. For f2p and low dollar players that have to be cautious with their resources, they will have a lot of items they don't own and didn't upgrade. It's okay though! Just break out your credit card, buy everything in the game, then buy all the blueprints you need to upgrade those items to pink and you'll be ready to join!
